Yammers thread 9!

Yammer rules:

A safe place for those of you who have been trying to conceive for 6+ months and even yams aren’t helping. Come and have a good ol’ bitch and a moan without judgement. Please read the rules before posting!

The Yam Commandments are as follows;

  • Thou shalt not arrive one day and post BFP next day
  • Thou shalt not give advice to others when TTC for one month only
  • Thou shalt not participate in one-up-manship and realise TTC is shit for everyone in different ways
  • Thou shall allow posters to be fucked off with the world and everything in it at regular points in the month
  • Thou shalt not be offended by strong language
  • Thou shalt not tell everyone to eat yams
  • Thou shall accept being called a muppet for testing at 7dpo at 9pm at night
  • Thou shalt not symptom spot during the two week wait and must be prepared for a telling off if you do so.

-Thou shalt not post pictures of positive pregnancy tests. We will be delighted to hear about it but no photos, please and thank you

Sorry to hear that @BGDino that's shit. Have you and DH taken time out together to have a nice evening just the two of you? Let everyone else piss off but I think you both need to get out and just have some nice time to yourselves... sorry if that's shitty advice but I think we always forget to look after ourselves and each other when TTC. The stress can't be good for us in general - let alone what you've gone through x

@impatientmammy you should be okay I think 😊 DH had a burn from my knickers before - totally fine, it's just a graze really. Just make sure he keeps it's squeaky clean! X

BGDino · 15/12/2018 10:48

Does anyone have any tips for passing the time while waiting to TTC? I feel like I'm losing my mind.

BGDino · 15/12/2018 10:48

@impatientmammy have bled for the two weeks since delivering my son, just stopped today. very much doubt I will have a period after this, the things that cause me not to ovulate (PCOS + hormonal suppression by lithium) haven't changed.

impatientmammy · 15/12/2018 06:37

@BGDino they're so incredibly unorganised it's awful. I hope your ok. Have you had a period since? X

BGDino · 15/12/2018 04:52

Christmas marks 1 year TTC for us, but we spent the first 6 months trying fruitlessly until we were referred to a fertility specialist and he found out I don't ovulate (not having any periods for 6 months after stopping the Pill should have been a clue for us...)

Today would have been my 20 week scan. DH called and cancelled after we got home from the hospital, they must not have written it down they called me this morning asking where I was Angry Massive kick in the gut, did not need that.

24 days today until my follow up obstetrician appointment and the possibility of some kind of timeline for trying again... Yammers please help keep me sane Sad

BGDino · 15/12/2018 04:45

@impatientmammy yeowch!

impatientmammy · 15/12/2018 00:22

It's a friction burn from moving knickers to the side 🙈 I wouldn't have worried but it looked like it's bled a tiny bit so it's an open wound ? X

Owlpatrol · 14/12/2018 23:54

Yep been much better trying to be chilled @impatientmammy I know it's a cliche and everyone says it but it has been better this month, and easier tww. I opked a few days then that was it this month! But I'll be fertile again Xmas week so hoping some more chill and Christmas cheer helps us this month fx. 're the other half, oooh how'd he manage that? Is he ok dtd? Not sure aboutninfection is he taking anything?

impatientmammy · 14/12/2018 23:19

Also guys this is a bit tmi but my oh has a penis injury 😳 is it likely to get infected or anything or are we ok doing the dead so long as we wash 🙈 I honestly don't know who else I could possibly ask an I'm a bit scared to google it 😂 x

impatientmammy · 14/12/2018 22:33

@Owlpatrol how you finding the whole calmer ttc situation? You still not OPKing?
I've been drinking grapefruit juice this cycle it doesn't seem to have worked is it possible that and the fertilitytea are counteracting each other ?
I'm on a night shift tonight so I'm gunna sit and read that old yammers thread. Sorry some of you have been here son long x

Owlpatrol · 14/12/2018 21:21

Awwww chook that's sad but lovely and so nice we've all been here. Been ttc for 2 years but on yammer thread I think for about a year. I seriously need to think about our next moves, dp still not had his testing. But to be fair we said we'd take some time off so going to push him in the new year

Chooklass · 14/12/2018 21:12

That was actually thread 4. I lurked for a loooong time til I was brave enough to say hi.

Any lurkers reading? Come and say hi! We're all in the same shitty boat and need all the support we can get!

Just checked back and I joined on 28th Jan! Not long til my Yammiversary!

Chooklass · 14/12/2018 21:06

@Owlpatrol I've been around since about then too, sadly! I lurked from the original thread but think I'd only been ttc 4/5 months at that point. So didn't feel 'qualified' to join! I love this thread!

@maddiie3 So glad everything is ok!

Awwww nice to hear from you @maddiie3 glad everything is going well

@impatientmammy go go go hehe hope you have a lovely weekend

Owlpatrol · 14/12/2018 20:12

I can't believe I've been here since I think the second yammer thread, is there any other old timers? Cycle day 2 here currently drinking wine watching Jamie and Jimmy yum!

LimpLettice · 14/12/2018 16:58

The one after that was better but I think it all got deleted. She was a nasty old boot.

Cupcakes I think that's what has made these threads last. We've all just been so rage filled and wanted somewhere free of yams, baby dust and positivity to rant and feel dreadful so we could face the world and all the fertile feckers in it with grace and charm.

cupcakesandglitter · 14/12/2018 16:03

Oh god what?! I must've missed that!!! Why the bloody hell did she say that?!

SparkwoodAnd21 · 14/12/2018 15:37

MNHQ had to step in after the poster told us she hoped we never got pregnant. Caaahh.

cupcakesandglitter · 14/12/2018 15:08

Ooh okay thanks ladies 😊

@SparkwoodAnd21 i think I remember seeing that last year! I've just had a read through and everyone is so angry it sums up everything I'm feeling!!!!

LimpLettice · 14/12/2018 11:25

Oh, we had a lovely (not) poster come in and tell us we were bitter old bitches who should just have more sex too. The yams was more lighthearted, even the poster who suggested them had the grace to be amused.

Maddiie I'm extremely pleased to hear this, altho sorry about the HG. I found this latest pregnancy terrifying after so many losses and couldn't relax enough to enjoy it. Just keep remembering the mantra, today, you are pregnant, and forget tomorrow and the day after.

impatientmammy · 14/12/2018 09:58

😂😂😂 @Si1ver that's amazing i love stuff like that (on reflection) at my "why the fuck am I not pregnant" drs appointment he politely suggested we try vaginal intercourse. No shit Sherlock 🤦🏻‍♀️ x

Si1ver · 14/12/2018 09:45

@maddiie3 that's brilliant news. Fingers crossed that everything stays ok.

The yam thing goes back many years ago stared into the distance one of the early members of the group, who'd been trying to get pregnant for years, was advised to eat yams by some woman who'd had a positive test after three months TTC.

impatientmammy · 14/12/2018 09:30

@maddiie3 sorry your feeling so I'll but I'm pleased you have a sticky bean and hope it stays that way. Also I hated being pregnant the kicks and scans where lovely everything else was awful. I think people are scared to say it but many feel that way.
@cupcakesandglitter I thought the yam thing was just an old wives tale can you even get them in the uk? Sorry I don't know how they work.
Static smiley today and BD'd yesterday so will try keep going for the next few days. Might get myself a frer for my Christmas stocking 😂🙈 x
