Reality - I just looked up access fertility and it turns out my chosen clinic (the one that appeared OAP friendly) is part of that. I've booked into the full fertility check for half price, would have been £800 but now £400. Bargain. Also saw the 2 cycle IVF deal. Shame we are too old for the unlimited IVF one!

Random question about the SA. Do they have to 'supply' the sample in-house? Or do they bring it in? Slightly anxious my DH will not be able to 'perform' under pressure!!

Realitysucks · 12/11/2018 19:52

@cleozeta we went to an open evening at Herts and Essex then got AMH and SP test half price. Went back on 8th November for tests and got result for his straight away he obviously has supersperm 🤦‍♀️ But I’m low on AMH. We have now booked a Treatment information appointment where you pay your cash they go through all of the drugs and show you how to do it. I will be on the short protocol as I’m 40. I think I will have to have a scrape to help implantation but they will know more once I start on 12 days of the drugs. Yes it’s expensive but look at Access Fertility we are going for ICSI as I want the best chance possible so are doing the multi cycle where you get two transfers. It’s cheaper than the clinic alone by about 5k!

Cleozeta · 12/11/2018 19:26

Thank you taxgirl & reality. I didn't feel like that until I made the call it just suddenly hit me! Reality - it would be good to hear how you get on with yours. I'll hopefully start any treatment in the new year but it's bloody expensive!
What is TIA?

Realitysucks · 12/11/2018 18:52

@Presh12345 aww I’m keeping it all crossed for you. I’m dreading the wait for mine. I really feel for you, 😞

Realitysucks · 12/11/2018 18:49

@cleozeta don’t feel like that! I am 40 so is partner and have a 16 year old son already. If you start treatment you may be a few weeks behind me so I can let you know how it goes 😬 I have my TIA on 21st November. We are just ploughing ahead as my AMH was 4 so not waiting any longer! I’ve cried all weekend 😬 just be aware most clinics shut down over Xmas. Doesn’t look like I will get a cycle in before Jan at this rate as next cycle due 10th December so egg collection will fall smack in the middle of Xmas 😭. I just want to get going now and cross my fingers for our ICSI baby!

Orchid222 · 12/11/2018 18:19

Let's- you've been quiet the last few days, how are you doing? Has AF stayed away? Have your meds arrived? Have you started on your ivf cycle? Hope AF never showed.

I went back to see Mr Shehata today and I've got to start taking steroids and progesterone and something else - can't remember right now - from ovulation. Take a test 10 dpo and if BFN stop taking the drugs. If BFP then continue. It's all so unproven that I don't know how I feel about it but I may as well try. Feel a little nervous about the prospect though

Taxgirl1 · 12/11/2018 17:35

Cleo, you aren't too old and you don't need to feel like a fraud. You have every right to get some checks done. Don't feel stupid or selfish.

Taxgirl1 · 12/11/2018 17:33

Presh, keep your chin up. It could be AF or it could be crazy pg hormones. It could have been implantation bleeding. I'll keepy fingers crossed for you. That time of the month is horrible and I totally understand your despair and teariness. Big hugs x

Cleozeta · 12/11/2018 17:24

Booked our fertility check at the clinic for 14th December. Aaaaargh! So scared

And also.... feel like a fraud. I hate the part when they ask your age. 41 for me, 44 for DH (he'll be 45 in 2 weeks) I feel so stupid for asking for checks and I feel guilty as I already have 2 beautiful children. I hope they are not judgemental as I feel stupid. And selfish. Maybe I'm too old for this.

Chatbash72 · 12/11/2018 15:06

Big hugs @Presh12345 just past af and know the teary feeling.. try and rest to get over the cold.. xxx

Presh12345 · 12/11/2018 15:01

I just have a feeling it's on its way. But I'm on so many tablets it could also be them.

Russkispy · 12/11/2018 13:30

@Presh12345 sorry you're feeling shite! Hope tiny fell better soon and AF won't turn up at all! Would you test again? My clinic counts the day of IUi as a zero day. I'm supposed to be having HCG tests on Friday and Monday, providing Friday is positive. But I'll take a hpt first as don't want to track all the way to London for nothing! Fingers crossed for you!

Presh12345 · 12/11/2018 12:43

Oh and could burst into tears at anytime

Presh12345 · 12/11/2018 12:40

I feel horrendous. I've had a rotten cold since Wednesday and feel shite. I've got sore boobs. AF due tomorrow but on so many tablets i doubt she will arrive anyway. 10dpiui today.....not even sure about that, do you count the day it happens? Sore throat. Feel depressed and sad and down and have no reason to. Sorry for the moan.

Orchid222 · 12/11/2018 12:12

Presh- it could be implantation bleeding?

Cleozeta · 12/11/2018 11:28

Orchid - it's possible some dodgy back street TCM places might put crap in there 'herbs' but I think as long as you go to a fully qualified reputable practitioner it will be absolutely fine, it's just natural stuff.

Mimosa - I was getting some hot flashes, not sure about the dry eye but I was definitely dry 'elsewhere'!

I think deffo go see the hormone dr, I'd be interested to hear what he has to say! 42 is definitely too young for peri and there may be something that can be done.

Presh - fingers crossed for you! Have you tested again?

Ameliel - fingers crossed for you too!

Ameliel · 12/11/2018 11:17

Morning Ladies, new week! Presh how are you? Fingers crossed it's not AF!
Here I am expecting AF any moment now, thought it would have been yesterday or def today but so far no show..? Temps dipped down this morning, I was expecting it as have been POAS few times last days and always clear BFN...oh well I wasn't expecting much this cycle as I think we missed our window... but so far I've not had any usual AF symptoms, aching back and dragging feeling... in fact I'm feeling pretty good! No pregnancy symptoms either whatsoever, so just hanging here waiting... roll on cd1!

Presh12345 · 12/11/2018 06:31

Tmi.....just had the teeny tiniest bit of pink when I wiped. Like teeny. Was mixed in with mucus....which could have been the progesterone gel that I have to insert every night.

Orchid222 · 12/11/2018 01:52

Mimosa-I'm not reluctant, I've taken the herbs for 5 months! My place has a good reputation and has been in business for a v long time too so I'm not worried or anything but if the clinic wants me to stop that's fine, God knows I spent a fortune on TCM without much to show for it so I'm ok stopping the herbs (I'm continuing acupuncture until after my ivf cycle is finished)

littlemimosa · 11/11/2018 23:56

Actually my TCM guy said something about goji berries and mushrooms amongst other things. It tastes rancid mind you....

littlemimosa · 11/11/2018 23:35

Cleo and Orchid thanks so much.

Cleo you always give me confidence:) Were you getting dry eyes and hot flashes when your cycles went weird?
An endocrinologist is basically a hormone doctor. Not just for women’s sex hormones but things like thyroid, adrenals etc too.

I feel ok about taking the herbs Orchid. I’m fussy about what I put in my body but the place I go to has been in business for years and years. It’s always busy and has a good reputation. I can understand your reluctance tho. Cleo’s enthusiasm for it has swayed me too!

Orchid222 · 11/11/2018 22:39

Critter I certainly hope you're wrong ivf might take a few cycles to work. I know it took 2 for you but hope next month will be lucky for me.
Presh it's hard isn't it? I'm purposely avoiding friends pregnant with no 2 as much as I can, not accepting invites etc because I just can't face them, it's too hard :(
WishingonaStar- 6dpo is v early but the line is there so fingers crossed it only gets darker!
Mimosa- it's actually interesting, at my clinic the consultant asked me to stop the herbs as people don't know what's in them and there's been some research done that's found traces of arsenic! Shock I'm sure that's not the case with our places else Cleo wouldnt be feeling so much better lol but I stopped as asked. Hope the TCM/endocrinologist helps and your cycles, energy and mood return to normal very soon 🤞

OP posts:
Cleozeta · 11/11/2018 21:37

Mimosa - sorry to hear you are still struggling with your cycles, I felt like this last year and was also worried about my general heath. I am currently feeling so much better after taking many suppliments and TCM. My energy is up, and I just feel so much healthier alongside my cycles being currently stable (I keep saying currently as it could change at any minute!) But I just want you to know it can be turned around. These bloody hormones have a lot to answer for when it comes to our health though!
I think seeing someone would be a good idea. What exactly does an endocrinologist do?
As for the yummy herbs, its different stuff depending on your perscription but its all natural medicinal stuff. Berries and bark stuff from forests kind of stuff I think! But it works so I don't care Grin

littlemimosa · 11/11/2018 21:01

Btw, does anyone know what is actually IN the yummy tea?? I keep asking but he sort of evades the question lol.....
