CLeo would you recommend TCM and soy together or just one at a time?

littlemimosa · 26/10/2018 09:31

Oh fantastic news Cleo!!! Did you have any signs or symptoms? I’ve got acupuncture booked tomorrow at a Chinese clinic so will be grabbing those herbs with gusto. Do you make a tea and drink them or are they capsules?

Thanks all for the dhea info.

Cleozeta · 26/10/2018 08:46

Thanks evug! Not sure how to post a pic, will try & figure it out

Cleozeta · 26/10/2018 08:45

I'm either 13 or 15dpo! I got +opk on cd15 but temps didn't rise properly until cd17 so not sure which one to go with.

The very interesting thing here though girls, is - this is my 2nd cycle on TCM (accupuncture & herbs), and my pregnancy at the beginning of the year was also the 2nd month on TCM.
So my only 2 pregnancies in the last 19 months have both happened on 2nd cycle of TCM. Coincidence? Possibly not.

Evug1234 · 26/10/2018 08:39

Wow Cleo.... congratulations!!!!
So happy for you.... please Post a pic of your bfp..... it'll be a great morale booster

Rose68 · 26/10/2018 08:32

@Cleozeta - amazing news! I thought AF was taking a while to show up. How many dpo are you? Fingers crossed for you xxx

CritterTamer · 26/10/2018 08:03

Woohoo congrats @Cleozeta! I told you guys it must be all tha5 summer sunshine we’ve had!

CritterTamer · 26/10/2018 08:02

I have a chart somewhere from the clinic that shows how it declines with age - I’ll see if I can find it and post a picture later. Mine is 10.4 and that’s considered normal for my age. Even at 10.4 maximal protocol is recommended - even on a high dose of stims we only got 6 eggs in cycle 1 and 12 in cycle 2 (with a lot of changes). The response to stims is usually directly proportional to AMH so the lower the AMH the less eggs you are likely to get and usually worse quality too.i am surprised that they said 0% chance though - clinics routinely treat people with AMH less than 1, however age is a significant factor - a 35yo with an AMH of 1-2 has a bettter chance of success than a 42yo with an AMH of 10 due to the fact that the lower number of eggs collected will usually be of much higher quality so more likely to implant.

At least this is how my clinic explained it to me!

Cleozeta · 26/10/2018 07:58

OMG just got a very faint line on a FRER Shock

Cleozeta · 26/10/2018 07:39

I thought an AMH of 2 was quite good for our age group!

CritterTamer · 26/10/2018 05:34

@Dabofrouge sorry about the BFN 😔

CritterTamer · 26/10/2018 05:31

@Letsdothis43 - thankyou! I’m feeling truly awful but know it’s for a good cause 😊
I’m sorry to hear about what the clinic said. I’m not sure what the prolactin and TSH results mean (they can’t be that vital though as my clinic doesn’t even ask for them) but the rest look ok to me. Your FSH looks suspiciously low at 2.7 - that might mean you would stimulate extremely fast which generally leads to poore quality eggs, but I’m guess the AMH of 2 is what they’re worried about as this is definitely low, and AMH (together with age) is the best indicator of your likely response to IVF. If you have turned 43 (just asking due to your name change) I think the overall success stats drop to about 5% anyway, and maybe that together with the low AMH is what they are worried about. All that said whilst AMH of 2 is low, it isn’t extremely low and i know many people try (and succeed) IVF with an AMH of less than 1 - you will be warned that your chance of success is lower though. Maybe get a second opinion from a clinic in this country and see what they say?

Letsdothis43 · 26/10/2018 03:57

@russkispy :( sad to hear that, @Cleozeta, I had the same issue at the beginning of this month CD3 landed on a Saturday and I was getting conflicting advice but I managed (not easily) to get mine done on the saturday, hopefully yours will be timed ok.

Had a a really upsetting two days, the clinic I had chosen abroad (Reprofit in Brno) were sent all results and the Dr said that with my test resuts I had a 0% chance of conceiving with my own eggs. Below are my results

AMH 2.0 pmol/L
LH 4.4
Oestradiol 703
Prolactin 298
FSH 2.7
TSH 2.8

I was told by some people that these were okay ish for my age and I know that some have conceived with lower results at that clinic, am at a loss as to what to do now, can someone shed some light on how I should interpret the above results? Thanks in advance

@shinyblackdog thanks for updating list!
@Crittertamer, glad to see things are progressing well!

DabofRouge · 25/10/2018 23:08

Ugh! What possessed me to test on 11 DPO...and in the evening?! BFN and I “feel” pregnant this month. Nausea, cramping, the lot. Oh well. Sad

Cleozeta · 25/10/2018 22:38

Mimosa - I took soy after an anovulatory cycle. I ovulated every cycle while taking it and it got me back on track. I'd totally recommend it in your situation.
If I remember rightly I took them cd2-5? And built them up day by day. I've not taken them for quite a while now as cycles have stabalised. Accupuncture & herbs great too, would totally recommend that.

Dhea I got from biovea, planning on 50mg a day. I'll carry on with ubiquinol too. And the many others...

Orchid222 · 25/10/2018 22:20

Mimosa I've been taking DHEA for nearly 2 weeks now. No hair loss but a couple of big spots on the side of my neck which I'm ok with because my hair covers them. I'm taking 50mg once a day, also got them from Biovea because my friend told me about it a few months ago (I was afraid of side effects so decided against it) and then Faith said she got it from Biovea and she was taking 50mg so I decided to give it a try. I am taking mine with ubiquinol but I'm running out of the latter and thinking of giving it a break because I've been taking it for ages with nothing to show for it.

Rose68 · 25/10/2018 21:46

@littlemimosa - I was taking 50mg of dhea, (2 x 25mg tablets so I could reduce or increase as appropriate) but I had only just started taking it. I only took it for about a week and then I got the bfp . I did get a couple of spots, but now I don’t know if that was the dhea or because I had conceived. I didn’t have any hair loss. I got it from Biovea (suggested by Cleo I think).

@CritterTamer - I’m not sleeping either. Hopefully it will improve soon!

@Cleozeta - Fingers crossed AF stays away!

littlemimosa · 25/10/2018 20:42

Sorry, another question ladies re dhea; where did you all buy yours?

littlemimosa · 25/10/2018 20:35

Cleo - can I ask again about soy isoflavones? I’m convinced I’m low on oestrogen. I’ve got all the classic symptoms and have been reading up on soy. What made you take it all those months ago and how was it? Did it affect ovulation? Sorry if you’re repeating yourself..

littlemimosa · 25/10/2018 20:33

Cleo - hope that’s a good sign for you.

I’m just reading up on dhea. So how much is everyone taking? 50? 75? I’m tempted but slightly worried about the hair loss and spots! Anyone who’s already taking it had any of these side effects? Also, are you ladies taking it with ubiquinol too?

In other news, I’m on CD 19/20 and have not ovulated. I’m getting damned ‘warm flashes’ (they are only slight but enough to be disturbing my sleep) and my eyes are dry. Ive has this a couple of cycles before and it’s not fun. I’m pretty fed up with either ovulating early or very very late:-( anyone else getting this as they age? Have booked acupuncture for Saturday as I’m now willing to do anything and everything.

Orchid222 · 25/10/2018 18:20

Cleo maybe at won't show at all Grin

I'll be starting the dhea as soon as I've had my cd3 blood test. Rescheduled it for Monday. Af still not here so hopefully Monday will be cd4 so thats not too bad

Orchid222 · 25/10/2018 13:38

Thanks Snowie I've decided to keep going through the 2ww. Do you think DHEA really contributed to your pregnancies? How long were you on it before you got pg? I know everyone is different but I'm trying to figure out how long to give it before I go for IVF. My patience is really gone so I'm thinking of trying IVF asap but might hold off a while longer in case that miracle dhea works for me.

Snowie3 · 25/10/2018 09:31

Hi, i take DHEA throughout the cycle. My FS didn't say not to, but then i never asked if i should stop! Anyway i have been pregnant twice by doing this, the first time resulted in my son. So it was ok then.

Tbh i am not sure that the science has all the answers yet so you probably just need to follow what you feel right with. Since I've had two pregnancies (one successful) on it, i will continue taking it throughout the month, if things change then i might have a convo with FS or professional to re evaluate what I'm doing.

Not sure if that helps!

Orchid222 · 25/10/2018 08:10

Thanks Cleo. Conflicting messages online but I think I'll go with the ones that say to continue.
