Hello!
I'm brand new here and kind of TTC - I very recently stopped my contraception method (non-hormonal IUD so no need to wait for anything to 'regulate itself') and will see what happens over the next few months before actively trying (tracking, OV strips, etc).
So not trying but not not-trying basically!
My husband is actually broodier than me but he doesn't want to "start trying" yet because we still have a lot of work to do on our house, and we're both awaiting an annual bonus from work - but he seems to think that it would happen right away as soon as we decide we're ready to be expecting, despite me explaining to him numerous times that realistically it could take up to a year or maybe longer. But we'll see. It's tricky because until you give it a go you just don't know how long it'll take - could be immediate or could be quite difficult.
Anyway, I want to hear your stories of finding out you were pregnant and letting him know... Did you take the test together, or take it yourself and then surprise him with the news? What was his reaction? Etc etc. All stories ... I want to know :)
Also did you tell your BFF/Mum/immediate family the news before 12 weeks? I can't imagine not telling my Mum but I don't think I would tell anyone else until after the 1st scan.
PS: I'm quite nervous about the prospect of "trying" as nearly all of my pregnant/parent friends have not had an easy ride.. but trying to think positively. Exciting!
PPS: I know hardly any acronyms yet, but enjoying learning them :)

Some lovely stories! I looked at the same time as my OH this time so we found out together.

Last time I told a very few close friends and family before 12 weeks, was planning to tell the rest after my scan but then had a MC at 11 weeks. I told most of the rest of my friends about the MC instead as I wanted to be open & needed the support! So this time the idea of hiding it then doing the big reveal has lost its shine somewhat now. So I’ve told most of the people who knew about the MC already, same day I did the test. But I’m not telling work yet 😂

@AndNoneForGretchenWieners

That is the absolute sweetest thing I've read in a long time how lovely Thanks

Mine was an unplanned pregnancy in a new relationship so I was wary of telling him. I had got pregnant previously with my abusive ex who had forced me to have an abortion, I knew that my now DH was lovely and kind, but still was anxious. I went round to his house after work, he cooked shepherds pie, I blurted out that I was pregnant while eating my dinner. He said he was really happy and the next day asked me to marry him. It all happened really quickly. 19 years later we are still together and have been married for 17 years. We still have shepherds pie on momentous occasions or when one of us is feeling miserable and needs cheering up Grin

After a year of trying I just got my BFP today & all my plans of surprising him went out the window, I couldn’t wait so just what’s apped him a photo. Still in shock !

He told me! I didn't think I was pregnant so left the test with him and wandered off round the house. It was wonderful. I was the one who had the surprised reaction and he got some ownership of it. I would do it again a million times.

I wish I had a film worthy story!

DH and I had several losses between 14-24 weeks. I took a test, saw it was positive and told him, but was bleeding on and off for a few months. We both tried not to get too excited and get our hopes up.

It was all a bit of an anticlimax really!

Josico58 · 11/09/2018 17:00

Aw, that's really sweet to think that he is just as excited to take the test as you are. I feel like my hubby would probably feel left out if he knew I was taking a test alone but I kind of feel like I wouldn't want to do one together then it be negative, which of course is likely to happen a number of times before BFP (I do know that one!), so I'd plan to hold off as long as I could and only do a test when AF (another one ;) hadn't made her appearance.. I just don't want to get too obsessive over it, especially as we're in no particular rush! But it's hard not to get excited!!

@Josico58 ooooo exciting times!! I kinda tracked mine the last 8 months after coming off the pill but we weren't due to start trying untill June next year so I didn't track much more than ovulating (can feel it) and when I bled, but we started trying this much & I wish I'd tracked better now! So the fact your doing ovulation tests etc now is great!! :)

I'm in the 2WW (2 week window) before testing, we 100% tried at the right time this month as we used ovulation test & im symptom spotting like a lunatic! Part of me wants to do a test myself & buy something cute for the other half and wrap it up with the test or do something silly like put a packet of buns in the oven and let him figure it out but I know he's counting down till we can test like me so I think it will be me running in the bedroom waving a wee stick around jumping all over the bed (hopefully non escapes GrinGrin)

I will tell my best friend who's currently out of the country & we're hoping if we are as lucky to be pregnant that we will try & hold out (symptom and bump may get in the way haha) but untill Christmas & surprise grandparents then!!

Having been told I couldn’t have dcs, having a baby was nowhere on our plan, and I couldn’t find the words to even start a sentence so I just handed him the little stick.
