I must have been TTC for too long: I don't find that gross, I find that fascinating!

Do you take the asprin every day or just some days of the cycle? Are all asprins alike (apart from dose) or is there anything in any of them I should avoid?

fingers crossed. my doc was v positive about taking asprin. tbh (tmi alert, sorry) ive been spotting since monday, rang up the fertility nurse and she said it was all the gunk from my tube coming out. ttc is gross!

I might start on aspirin too, just for the hell of it. I had an HSG a couple of years ago and found it painless, so it won't necessarily be horrible! I need another one now too, and I've deliberately not booked it for this month because I can't TTC (exams etc) this month, and want to save the 'flushing out' power for a month I'll try! (That will also be the first month TTC in the last couple of years that I haven't been working full-time with non-sleeping baby and A Levels... I have high expectations for that month - fingers crossed!)

soreheart. i self-medicate 75mg asprin and its proven to help with problems conceiving as well as staying pg so (i spoke to my doc about this) theres no harm at all in taking a low dose asprin daily, to be safe.

the HSG was really quite painful, but it does have the added bonus of clearing your tubes and womb out a bit. i asked to see the pictures and got preliminary results there and then

I think I should ask for the HSG, just to be sure, as although previous operation didn't reveal anything the op. wasn't for this reason (remove cyst and laser off endo). Was this a painful procedure? Did you get instant results?
I wimped out a bit on the low dose aspirin as well. He said that was for people who had a history of miscarriage (or something similar) and just nodded and made a note! Should have said, "Well, that's my experience of pregnancy over the last 6 years, even 'though' that's only 2 m/cs". I wonder if I can speak to my GP about that?

shit. the dye test is a HSG which i had on monday and i wouldnt have thought that would be applicable to you. having said that i sat next to a woman who is 41 (42 in 2m) and she is just undergoing investigation leading to ivf. cant believe he was so dismissive. for fucks sake, why do these people become doctors if they dont care about helping people. it makes me so angry.

Happy to do more sperm tests and do the dye test on me to ensure clear tubes (whatever that's called) but there doesn't seem to be any reason to do anything else. Age is the real issue against fertility and there's nothing they can do about that.
I asked about extra Folic acid and B6 but he wasn't particularly enthusiastic.

Ferty McExpert advises that I get used to the idea that it's just too late, regardless or sperm quality, I'm too old. He now advises a 1 in 5 chance with IVF. So the implication is that it's just not going to happen. I'm sure it's based on loads of Empirical data and experience but it's not really what I want to know.
Duchesse, you MUST press on and not be stoic in any way. You have age on your side so maximise this NOW before you get the same story I've just been told.

Duchesse - so sorry you are on CD1. I like the team hut notion. It's been suggested to me before now to imagine that you are taking a group of people in there with you, who are right there behind you. What would you be able to say if we were all standing right there with you?

Duchesse, what do you need from us? We are Team Hut: Behind you in any corner. See another GP? Don't leave till they agree to write the letter. Sit there and say it's time you saw a fertility specialist: It's been 4 years TTC. They can't dispute that. Stick to the facts. Say you need your thyroid sorted out for it's own sake, and you need to get it balanced before any fertility treatment starts. Just sit there and keep coming back to the facts if they start waffling off topic. I'm sure once you've run over your allocated 3mins they'll start getting rather keen to get you out, and that means writing the letters for referral. I guess you need an endocrinologist for thyroid, and the fertility one. The GP isn't going to be able to do much for you anyway, you just need those letters of referral.

The south west is far too far for me to pop down, but if you like you can imagine me standing behind you with a 'do as she says' fierce look on my face. I can be quite scary, especially when I'm tired and things aren't going how I'd like them. So that's all the time ATM!

So, Scorpio1, it's always the case that there are way too many pg people out there. They keep having sex, that's the thing. It should be rationed.
Lissie, I'm so glad my DP is not the only reluctant one out there. It gives me strength to just give him a time and a date that he has to be 'donating' and just get it sorted.
I will go to fertility expert tomorrow with questions - especially on what we need to be looking for on DPs fertility test so maybe we can read results at GPs without having to wait 3 months to see expert just to interpret results. i.e. what scores show reasonable levels of fertility.
I will be an expert eventually whether I like it or not.
