@BambiOnIce80 I didn't go into details of what exactly she was sniffing. Maybe it was just the grown bacteria in the petri dish. But nonetheless, it still came outta someone and not any less gross. I don't think I could work in that kind of lab.

I just realized I never officially joined the list. We're TTC#1 since May when I had my coil removed after 8.5 years of not having a period. It came back within three weeks and since then my cycles were 31, 34, 24, 24. By the looks of it this month, it'll be 24 again, although I'm starting the TWW today, or more like twelve day wait. Not sure why it shortened like that, it used to be 30.

I've been temping this month (a couple at a different time and a couple with less sleep) but my chart is WHACKY. It's now making me doubt whether I even ovulated even though I had EWCM 😭😭 I cant even show you ladies because I've uploaded too many pictures today apparently 😭

@cupcakesandglitter same, I have to restrict water too for a few hours before. Also if I just tested in the evening I don’t think I’d necessarily find my positive, I only seem to find it in the afternoons x

Hey @Josico58 it's definitely a little daunting but also (might be just me) super interesting too to learn what the hell your body is doing each month! For OPKs its usually best to test after 10am, your OPKs might say on the pack the best times, then test throughout the day. I usually test when i get home from work. For me I get a bit of a line that gets darker so i try and test more often til i get the positive.

If you're not sure when it is its probably an idea to start really early in your cycle and keep going for a bit. It should be around 14 days before your next period but everyone's different. I take my temperature every morning too which helps show that ovulation actually happened. Best of luck to you! xx

I am super new to TTC, this will be my first cycle. I've been tracking my cycles in a couple of different apps and they're all saying different OV days.

I tried the OV strips and I couldn't get a positive, although I wasn't testing first pee of the day as instructed.. so maybe that was it.

Advice welcome! I'm quite daunted by the prospect of "actively trying" because of so many friends and stories here that have struggled :-(

Looks like it's just me with the water then 🙈 if I drink normal water my pee is too diluted, I have to restrict it when I'm testing otherwise I get nothing xx

@Delilah7 have you tested? Also have you heard back from docs?

@GDOG35 sorry if I've read it wrong, did you have EWCM earlier today? Get DTD tonight if possible!!!! You may have just missed your surge idk? Xx

@BambiOnIce80 you put me to shame 😂 @sunshine1987 when I had my EWCM it was yellow tinged, I had to have a quick sniff because I was scared it was an infection 😭 I've not had one before though so I had no idea if it should smell without having to sniff it? Idk 😂😂

My stats:
I'm 31
TTC #1
Cycle 5

I came off the implanon rod after 6.5 years in February, got my period back within the first 4 weeks, and have been TTC since May.

My cycle has been varying between 24-28 days but has been 24 days for the last 3 cycles with ovulation on day 14.

I have been a bit worried about the shorter luteal phase being only 10 days, but I think I just scrape through for the minimum.

Currently 7 DPO and trying to remain positive but feeling that AF is inevitable this weekend 😭

@Delilah7 ref times, i didnt test at all during the day with OPK just when i came in from work, then a couple of hours later, then before bed think the dark ones i got were around 7 / 7.30 without restricting water as I drink a ridiculous amount of water.

Just going to put my science geek lab coat on and defend the poor microbiology scientists a bit 🤓 When I did my 1 week micro rotation a good 20 years ago nobody was putting their noses anywhere near any manky samples 🤢 Certain bacteria give of very distinctive smells when you grow them in a petrie dish and they might take note of that, but that's about it. Maybe your friend had a bit of a weird fetish @KatBeCool and was disguising it as necessary as part of the job?! I knew very quickly that I couldn't do micro for a job - the sight of sputum alone made me gip 🤢

@sunshine1987 I knew someone who used to work at a lab. Now I can't 100% say they still do it with all modern inventions, but some years ago they did for sure, to smell for infections and all sorts ailments that happen down there. I said the same thing - there's no way you'd be sniffing what came out of someone else. But I guess how else they knew that, for example, yeast infection smelled sour? They had to smell it lol

@katbecool @flapjackered haha they do not? That’s hilarious!!

@FlapJackered @sunshine1987 They perform a "whiff" test during the lab testing (not joking), so if they can sniff other people's stuff, I think we're ok sniffing at least our own.
