Anyone else trying to lose weight to help with TTC?

As another AF comes with no TTC success at all, I have decided to make a big push to lose weight.

I am obese :( with a BMI of 32.7. This morning I weighed 80.8kg. I am going to try to get to 65kg as my goal which would still be above the highest "healthy" weight but would give me a huge weight loss.

I've started with myfitnesspal tracking and using Huel meal replacements for some meals.

Anyone want to join me? I would like this to be a space for positive encouragement, I'm feeling very fragile... wondered if anyone else would like to join so I'm not positively encouraging myself!

Well 2.5lb off this week at WW. I'm really pleased with that as the Bank Holiday weekend was difficult as we ate out a lot. That's 3.5lb total down now (in about 2.5 weeks).

WW is an adjustment but it does seem to be working! Hope everyone else has had a good day.

Good luck everyone. I'm now ttc no 2 after having spent the last year losing weight to help it all. I lost 7st on slimming world and feel so much better and healthier and hoping that I conceive soon

It's too early to tell on WW yet I reckon! I'm definitely thinking about what I eat a lot more and have really cut down on the crap/ice cream I was smashing down! My doctors is currently giving you 12 weeks free if your BMI is over 30 so I figured I had nothing to lose (except the fat of course!)

Tomorrow is weigh in day so we'll see whether it's made much of a difference.

Thanks! I've been very good all day and then DH has come home with a donut! Bless him lol.

I've ordered a load of Huel shakes. Not sure how much I will take to them but hopefully it will help.

Good luck ladies! I just wanted to say, don’t underestimate the impact that weight can have one ttc!

I was diagnosed with unexplained infertility when ttc DC1 as it had been 15 months with no luck and nothing wrong with either of us. My bmi was in the overweight range, not quite obese. We finally got lucky and had DS.

When Ds was born i joined Slimming World and it was FANTASTIC! I lost 4 stone in 9 months and my bmi is now at the lower end of healthy range.

I’m currently 14 weeks pregnant with DC2 and conceived from one lucky try. My midwife wasn’t in the least bit surprised it was so much easier this time as after smoking, weight is apparently the biggest factor that affects fertility! I genuinely can’t recommend slimming world strongly enough!!!

Oh food shopping is definitely my downfall - if I do it when I'm hungry I'll pick loads of crap foods that I fancy there and then 😂

@Sunshinegirl82 how are you finding weight watchers? I know quite a few people who have been successful with slimming world x

Sunshinegirl82 · 28/08/2018 12:21

Hello, I'm doing the same. TTC number 2. My BMI was about 30 when I conceived DC1 but is now up around 33. I've joined Weightwatchers and I have moderated what I'm eating so I think it's doing something! Finding it quite tough though.

I've found 0% fat plain yogurt good for snacking and mixed with a crushed meringue nest it feels quite like a pudding (sort of!)

JustLikeTheySaid · 28/08/2018 12:02

Hey! Definitely having healthy food in and not snacks is a good idea - I struggle with willpower especially when I am tired so it is easier just not to have those things in! I also struggle with food shopping when I'm hungry so I need to try not to go to the shops after work!

Hey! I'm doing the same :) currently TTC #1, AF has just finished so I'm onto cycle two. Me and DH both could do with losing quite a bit of weight - we're trying to go to the gym as often as we can (only once so far but going today) and I'm eating loads of healthy food when I can, and trying to keep the house stocked with fruit rather than snacks x
