Anyone else trying to lose weight to help with TTC?

As another AF comes with no TTC success at all, I have decided to make a big push to lose weight.

I am obese :( with a BMI of 32.7. This morning I weighed 80.8kg. I am going to try to get to 65kg as my goal which would still be above the highest "healthy" weight but would give me a huge weight loss.

I've started with myfitnesspal tracking and using Huel meal replacements for some meals.

Anyone want to join me? I would like this to be a space for positive encouragement, I'm feeling very fragile... wondered if anyone else would like to join so I'm not positively encouraging myself!

Hi all do you mind if I join?
I am on cycle 2 of ttc with a BMI of 31- size 16 clothes!
I have put 2 stone on since meeting my dh in 2014 and need to lose some weight, not only for my health but for my ttc journey.
Just reading the thread and have just download myfitnesspal.

Also thinking of joining the gym as sit in an office for 8 hours a day!

Hope you ladies are all okay?

Hey @cupcakesandglitter 👋 I know right?! I've come down with a cold today so what am I doing? Sitting on the sofa comfort eating! 🤦‍♀️

Hi, just thought I'd interject here as I was in the obese range about ten years ago (bmi 31 or so, just gradually crept up over the years, and I had a bad relationship with food) and really struggled to shift it on my own. I hired a personal trainer and saw her once a week, and she kept me motivated and doing lots of strength exercises, and I gradually added in running to the mix as I got fitter. It really helped instil good practices with me and my BMI has never gone over 23 since (and I'm getting on for 40 now). It really was money well spent, and I loved our sessions, we always had a good natter. I have a good relationship with my body now.

Good luck!

Hey @JustLikeTheySaid I've been to the gym on Sunday and yesterday - bought some scales so I can monitor my weight. It does fluctuate a lot Day to day, so I'm gonna check back in on Sunday :)

Well done both @Laurenita and @JustLikeTheySaid it's hard but we'll get where we want to be as long as we're persistent 💪🏽

Hey @rollerskaterdata 😊😊 oh I'm with you on the eating!! Any excuse to eat 😂😂

rollerskaterdata · 05/09/2018 09:38

Hi everyone 👋 I hope you don't mind if I join? I'm TTC #2, on cycle 2 and could do with losing a couple pounds! I'm 27 and so is my BMI (!), so overweight category and keen to lose as much as I can before falling pregnant, however long it takes me to catch. I'd already lost a ton of weight over a year and a half or so (about 15kg) but managed to put back on 2.5kg of that over summer. I'm also an emotional eater and will use any excuse I can to eat junk food (upset, happy, celebrating, on my period, bad day at work, you name it!) 🤦‍♀️

Laurenita · 05/09/2018 09:26

I started dieting 6 weeks ago, I’m on cycle 7 now and feeling the strain. I’ve lost 5kg so far (11lbs) in that time as I lose slowly. I’m around BMI 30.

JustLikeTheySaid · 05/09/2018 08:01

I've lost 1kg in a week! Not a huge amount of progress but it is something. Feeling pleased! How is everyone else doing?

Just popping on to say you can do it ladies!

I'm ttc for dc 2 and have been since January with no joy, except for one early miscarriage. My BMI was nearing 28, so in the overweight category. Two days ago and after four months ish I've finally got it to be in the healthy range. Hoping it makes the difference and results in a bfp. I did it (very slowly - damn people at work bringing in so many biscuits!) through the 16:8 fasting diet and just not being as greedy as I used to be with chocolate (my main weakness).

Good luck. You can do it! When my friend was losing weight for ttc she always thought "so I want this biscuit or a baby?"

cupcakesandglitter · 31/08/2018 17:18

@JustLikeTheySaid I had a nobbly bobbly before bed, and bought a big bar of chocolate today if it helps 😂

I hope you're okay xx

JustLikeTheySaid · 31/08/2018 16:10

....eaten half a box of Maltesers this afternoon. Emotional day and I cope with emotions with food. Trying not to beat myself up.

@ILoveHumanity ooh I may try it then!! Only thing is, I've read some vitamins etc can alter hormones etc, I have no idea what is/isn't safe apart from folic acid 😂

ILoveHumanity · 30/08/2018 23:16

cupcake yeh must be that. She took it as capsules from Holland’s and barrats

cupcakesandglitter · 30/08/2018 23:00

@ILoveHumanity is it Açai berry, or are they different? I've vaguely heard of it but not known anyone that's used it... how did your aunt have it? Xx

bananabanana · 30/08/2018 22:41

@cupcakesandglitter 😂😂😂

ILoveHumanity · 30/08/2018 22:39

Have you heard of Aciah berry?? I’ve heard it really helped people lose weight and seen my aunt lose 20 kg in six months on it . I thought it was fake advertising but I’m considering it after I stop breastfeeding

cupcakesandglitter · 30/08/2018 22:37

@bananabanana I hear that 😂 biscuits are amazing same as chocolate, ice cream etc etc

bananabanana · 30/08/2018 22:17

@cupcakesandglitter wow that's amazing! I'm trying to go 2-3 times a week, I've done no exercise for soooo long!! Yeah MFP is amazing!! I just need to have enough willpower to actually stay within the calorie count and not keep eating biscuits Grin

cupcakesandglitter · 30/08/2018 21:52

@bananabanana I'm at the gym too - went for the first time in two years last week, was supposed to go today, but work has been super hectic. Going to try and go at least five times a week! I also use MFP, it's good to know how much sugar etc I really eat in a day! X

bananabanana · 30/08/2018 21:39

@cupcakesandglitter Yeah I've joined the gym which is actually really refreshing, am really enjoying it! How about you? xx

@JustLikeTheySaid I'm doing exactly the same with my fitness pal! The barcode thing is brilliant! xx

JustLikeTheySaid · 30/08/2018 11:54

Well done @sunshinegirl82 that's great!

Welcome everyone. I am using myfitnesspal to track everything I eat. Its really easy to do because of the barcode scanner.

Trying to stick to 1200kcal a day but I'm not beating myself if I go over a little bit, yesterday I ate 1211 which I still think is okay lol.

It's really helpful because it gives you a "if every day was like today, in 5 weeks you will weigh ... " which is helpful! Yesterday it said I would weigh 76.5 which is about 3.5kgs so I'm pretty pleased with that if it is true. It helps to have a little motivation anyway!

cupcakesandglitter · 30/08/2018 07:29

@bananabanana yeah I'd definitely look into it! Are you getting much exercise in? Xx

bananabanana · 29/08/2018 23:47

@cupcakesandglitter Hi!! I've been a longtime lurker so decided to take the plunge and join in on some threads! Smile Hmm maybe I should join SW then, just really want to shift some weight to at least get my BMI down to 30! xx

cupcakesandglitter · 29/08/2018 23:22

@bananabanana hey! I've just seen you over on the other thread too 😊 I've just discussed slimming world with DH too, everyone I know that's been on it has massively dropped the weight xx

bananabanana · 29/08/2018 22:40

Hi everyone! I would love to join too! TTC #1, my BMI is 32, really want to lose some weight as on cycle 9/10 now. Have absolutely no willpower, been ineffectively trying to lose weight for over a year Blush Thinking of joining SW so it's reassuring hearing other people have had success with it!

cupcakesandglitter · 29/08/2018 22:14

@Squ1ggle oh wow that's amazing, well done you!! Hopefully TTC goes well, fx for you x

@Sunshinegirl82 well done!! Do you think you'll continue doing it after the two weeks? X
