New thread ladies! @PastaSauceHoarder @Goostacean @Barker26 @crazychemist @DoveGreylove @springsummerautumnwinter can't remember who else to tag.

I know @cupcakesandglitter has linked us to a new thread but I'm not sure I am strong enough to be surrounded by those TTC already!

@PastaSauceHoarder we are doing pretty much everything!! New garden with gym, downstairs extension with a new kitchen, new bathroom, and now doing a loft conversion. I don't think much of the original house is left! We are in the home straight now, but living in a building site is getting me down

Rachael321 · 13/09/2018 22:06

@dottydally thanks, I'm getting there, good days and seriously awful ones. Wanting to move jobs as I've just completed a management course so will stay in the same industry just move up the ladder hopefully! And hopefully more money and more regular shift pattern, just now I do about 30-35 hours and days and times vary every week. And OH has just got a new job Monday to Friday... and i work most weekends which isn't great.

@PastaSauceHoarder thanks I hope so too!

I'm with you all on the hurt of seeing people announce their pregnancies! Recently saw a friend of a friend on Facebook announce here, with the same due date as I would have had (going by my dates anyway)

PastaSauceHoarder · 13/09/2018 21:06

Don't worry @Barker26, my SIL just publicly announced her second pregnancy yesterday and today we got an invition to my other SIL's baby shower - so we'll just be unreasonable and jealous together. Wink

Hi I remember you, @happytobemrsg! Don't worry about being grumpy, sounds like most people would be if they were in your shoes. What are you having renovated? The end result will be fab but its the getting there thats annoying - I'm so impatient, I'd just want to click my fingers and have everything done instantly!!

Welcome @Rachael321, really sorry to hear about your miscarriage, that must have been horrible. Flowers Hopefully 2019 will be a lot kinder to you.

Don't worry @dottydally, I'm sure when the time comes you'll be absolutely fine! Smile

Forgot to update about the hen do/strippers last weekend - yeah, definitely not for me. Blush

Barker26 · 13/09/2018 20:46

@dottydally we are waiting until December! Purely for financial reasons and the fact we are going to New York on December 6th and Athens in March! Just caught up with the thread hello all newbies! Omg my DPs cousin just announced her pregnancy tonight, 4th baby youngest DC is 3 I think? I know IABU but I'm so jealous :(

happytobemrsg · 13/09/2018 20:34

I can't remember if I joined this thread or the last one Hmm

My stats are:
Age: 30
TTC: baby #2 (DS is 2)
Reason for waiting: lots of house renovations & I've gone back to work part time for a while

I'm so rubbish at keeping up with this thread. Work is crazy busy & DS is running rings around me at the moment. The house renovations are taking forever (we started a year ago) & living in a building site is getting me down. As you can tell I'm a bit grumpy today! Sorry everyone

dottydally · 13/09/2018 19:53

@SurfingTheSouthWest did you have to convince him? I'm pleased he is on board! 26 weeks is good though. Saves you waiting a year.

I say it like it's a pressing issue - I'm only 23 and no one in my family has had any issues until 30, but we own our own home and financially and emotionally stable/ready so it seems as good a time as any.

@PastaSauceHoarder oh gosh! That sounds tough. I'm useless with pain but the idea of pain relief also freaks me out. I guess we will have to wait and see which side wins out when it comes to it! Stitches.. down there... shudders

@Rachael321 welcome! So very sorry to hear about your miscarriage Thanks it is good to let your body/heart heal though.

What is making you want to move jobs?

OP posts:
Rachael321 · 13/09/2018 15:50

Hi ladies
Mind if I join you...?
Been lurking around here for a a while trying to find somewhere I might 'fit in'

I'm 24 and ttc #1 waiting until jan/Feb we think...

After ttc for almost a year we finally found out I was pregnant in July and unfortunately i miscarried early in August. Waiting a few months for everything to get back to normal cause it was a really big blow to both of us. What doesn't help is that AF decided to show up today for the first time since and today was booked as my scan date which has spooked me again..

At the moment the beginning of the year is when we will start trying again although I am looking at moving jobs and going to a higher position so it depends on that too

PastaSauceHoarder · 12/09/2018 21:40

Haha @dottydally, basically I was in labour for over 30 hours and I ended up having to have an epidural because none of the other pain relief did so much as touch the sides (plus I needed anti-sickness injections because the contractions kept making me throw up). Though it was getting stitches after giving birth that was the worst...
Also the little monkey was eight days bloody late!
All in all it without going too much into it, it wasn't a brilliant labour, birth or recovery really - but you can bet anything that I'd happily do it all over again in a heartbeat! Smile

Wow @McHelenz, I bet you can't wait now! It sounds amazing, hope you have a wonderful time!

Hello @SurfingTheSouthWest. Smile Congrats on your wedding and your new job! Your department might not know that you want to get pregnant but you can gabble away to us here, we're all in the same boat! Wink

SurfingTheSouthWest · 12/09/2018 18:38

@dottydally how exciting! I’ve had to slowly approach the subject over the last 12 months to prep dh for the inevitable. He’s finally come round to the idea so I’m on countdown mode! In theory, I have to have been there for 26 weeks by the 15th week before due date. Which technically means I only have to have been in the job 2 weeks... I’m waiting till October/Novemberto ttc to make sure I can definitely complete my first full year with my classes.
I feel so awful that I’m desperate to have a baby and my department are nonethewiser. It’s a horrible feeling really. Oh wow no you wouldn’t want to miss your chance because of a job! Fingers crossed the weeks go quickly so we can all start ttc!

Xoxox

dottydally · 12/09/2018 06:00

@SurfingTheSouthWest welcome! You're a similar age to me Smile I was fine when we first bought our house as I assumed DP wasn't up for having children straight away. Turns out I was very wrong and he was the first to say he wanted to do it!

How long do you have to be in your job for maximum maternity pay? For most it is a year (I know ours is). I also feel cheeky, although not because I'm particularly new, just because I feel like I'm being awkward doing it so soon. But you are right, we have been back and forth on it and concluded that we have to put ourselves first. With a history of early menopause in my family i wouldn't ever forgive myself if I delayed due to work and then couldn't.

Happy hump day all. It's nearly Friday!

SurfingTheSouthWest · 11/09/2018 22:34

Hi ladies,
Hoping it’s ok to join? I’m another lurker taking the plunge.
Have had 6 months of married bliss and hoping to ttc from the end of October 2018. Started a new teaching job this month so feeling a little cheeky. Its consuming me a little but I know ive got to put our family life first. Have been brooding for 18 months now (pretty much as soon as we completed on our house). We’ve done lots of work on the house and are ready to fill the spare rooms in the foreseeable future.

So my stats are

Me: 24, Dh: 28
Ttc: Oct/Nov 2018
Reason: max maternity pay

Xoxo

dottydally · 11/09/2018 18:03

@McHelenz see, not because they were 30! 30 is still very young. Ha! I'm sure you were an angel..

Jealous of your hols!

@PastaSauceHoarder ok, how bad was it? I feel like I ought to knowBlush

OP posts:
McHelenz · 11/09/2018 10:31

Morning ladies, hope we are all ok!

All checked in for Mexico and only 4 days of work to go! Getting a bit excited now!

PastaSauceHoarder · 10/09/2018 22:18

Ooh good idea @dottydally, I'll have to get a counter on my phone too!
I'm afraid I have no stories of a non-sickness pregnancy and a pain-free birth, so I'll refrain from going into detail! But I will tell you that I've completely forgotten the pain now - birthing my daughter seems really dreamlike these days. I'm definitely not scared of going into labour again, I can't wait.

McHelenz · 10/09/2018 19:03

I've been here for just 12 months now. It's one reason we are waiting because I wanted to settle.

I have and I think its because they couldn't afford and my granddad lived with us. I took ages to come to the point they were going to stop too. Also I probably was a pain in the arse 😂😂😂

dottydally · 10/09/2018 14:45

@PastaSauceHoarder if you are worried and you already have one there's no hope for the rest of us I'm pleased it is so badly wanted though. I'm at a point where the idea of not doing it makes me more scared than doing it so I know it's right for us. I have a counter on my phone! 147 days to go! Almost double what you've got

@McHelenz how long have you worked there? Have you ever asked why you are an only child? I joke that I want two but if the first one is really painful I'm not having a second! I know I'll likely end up having a second if I can but the thought of the pain really does terrify me. And morning sickness. Anyone have lovely stories of how they were never sick and labour didn't hurt at all? Wishful thinking.

Hi @crazychemist! It's been a while. Three months will fly by!

OP posts:
crazychemist · 10/09/2018 14:07

Hi ladies!

Have been taking a break from mumsnet to avoid obsessing over wtttc. The next 3 months are pretty long in my head.... I'm back to school though now, which hopefully will keep me busy and distracted. I took DD to a toddler group this morning and sooo many of the other my,s had a cute little newborn on their lap while the toddlers were playing. Seriously tugged on my hormones!

McHelenz · 09/09/2018 22:03

It absolutely is heartbreaking sometimes but it's filled with absolute joy all the time. I love working there but it does make me worry about extras that probably don't cross people's minds.

I think it's because I convinced myself as a child I was an only child because my parents were 30 when they had me. So my logic was I needed kids by 27. Failed there haha.

PastaSauceHoarder · 09/09/2018 22:03

Hello @ValleyFire and @Manycatsandallthegin! Smile

@Manycatsandallthegin I think the fear of not being able to conceive must be quite common. I'm still worried about it now, even after having one happy and healthy pregnancy already! I think @dottydally hit the nail on the head when she said that its irrational but wanted so badly - its just a silly fear really that we all seem to have!

I started spotting yesterday in preparation for AF and I'm starting to feel majorly impatient - I just want to TTC now!
Only roughly 70 days to go. 🙄

dottydally · 09/09/2018 21:56

@McHelenz 31 is absolutely not old! In my profession 35-40 is very normal for a first child. Many go on to have a second and third too! I'm not saying they all find it super easy, but 31 is still very young!

I definitely couldn't do your job. Do you not just end up in tears when bad things happen? I'm such a softie Blush

OP posts:
McHelenz · 09/09/2018 21:53

Also, I work in a children's hospice and it just brings up a lot of its own worries.

McHelenz · 09/09/2018 21:52

@dottydally Im the same. Hubby had mumps at 21 and my parents apparently struggled to have me so it really worries me. Also I have this stupid thing in my head that being 31 is ridiculously old.

dottydally · 09/09/2018 21:37

@Manycatsandallthegin hello! waves you are of course welcome to join us.

Skiing sounds brilliant though. It's just disheartening when you want to ttc now now now.

I am really scared it will be difficult. It's something I've struggled with throughout the wait as I'm constantly thinking 'even if we started now it could take a year'. It's irrational, I know it is, I have no reason to think we will struggle. I think it comes down to the fact I know I want this so badly that the thought of not having it is awful. There is a history of early menopause in my family too (although not my mum), being early 30's which scares me. We had originally planned to start next summer but there's also a lot going on lately which makes me think life is too short. Reasons for waiting beyond February are trivial and quite frankly there with always be something to wait for.

@ValleyFire thank you! Not a holiday as such for me though as I'm heading away with work. Hopefully I'll enjoy the weekends though Smile

I think I would ask your doctor again if I were you. Mine was very clear when I had my vaccinations done that it would be 6m if DP travelled with me. Hopefully the link works. It's close to the bottom!

Also you might know if you've been bitten! I know it's dead disheartening I just don't want you to be told false info.

McHelenz · 09/09/2018 21:10

@valleyfire it's deffo 6 months as it can be symptomless. That's NHS England's advice. I'm a nurse so I keep trawling public health England 😂
