New thread ladies! @PastaSauceHoarder @Goostacean @Barker26 @crazychemist @DoveGreylove @springsummerautumnwinter can't remember who else to tag.

I know @cupcakesandglitter has linked us to a new thread but I'm not sure I am strong enough to be surrounded by those TTC already!

Oooo @cupcakesandglitter cross post! Hi hun! Hope you're doing ok too xx

rollerskaterdata · 04/10/2018 21:26

@dottydally thanks hun, we move in a couple of weeks and I'm so nervous excited! It feels so surreal I can't believe it's actually happening after dreaming about it for so long!

Also really exciting that some of you are really close to TTC, only 4 cycles to go @dottydally! And @PastaSauceHoarder it's literally just around the corner for you! All the very best ladies x

PastaSauceHoarder · 04/10/2018 21:26

Wow, all I can say is good luck @dottydally! That eight weeks will definitely fly by. I've never had a proper career that offers promotions and whatnot but I imagine its a little nerve-wracking. Like @PumpkinsMum18 I also hope you get what you want! Smile
When is it you go on your work trip again, is it December?

Ahh I know what you mean @PumpkinsMum18, its my SIL's baby shower in a couple of weeks time - my broodiness meter is full to the max as it already is so god knows how I'll be after that. 😂
I can't find your first post sorry, how long are you waiting to TTC?

By the way I love all the period countdown talk. Grin

cupcakesandglitter · 04/10/2018 21:26

I'm good thankyou @dottydally and @PastaSauceHoarder ... crazy to think I'm now TTC but honestly it is 1000000000 times more stressful than waiting for it was 😔 hope you're all looking after yourselves! We haven't had a natter in a while xx

PumpkinsMum18 · 03/10/2018 18:22

Thank you everyone for the warm welcome, it’s been good to hear about your plans and experiences 😊

I think I will stay on the pill until the right time to TTC. I don’t feel very confident with using the Natural cycles method and don’t think it’s worth the risk!

I’m going to my cousin’s baby shower on Saturday, will be fun but won’t help with my broody feelings! 😩

@dottydally good luck with the promotion! Hope you get what you want 🤞

dottydally · 03/10/2018 16:39

@PastaSauceHoarder welcome back! I had also become a bit rubbish at keeping up. It's the final push for me as promotions are decided at the end of November. 8 weeks and counting. I'm worried this will renew my love for my career, but I can cross that bridge when I get to it. I definitely wouldn't be able to travel like I do now with a baby.

How are you??

@Tropicana1 yes! I have also had some weird cramping today so not quite sure what that was. It caught me out in a meeting and then I realised I had stopped listening to what people were saying Blush

OP posts:
Tropicana1 · 03/10/2018 13:44

@dottydally I’m so glad someone else is marking the time left to TTC as how many periods there are to go haha!
I was thinking today “only 5 more periods to go until we start!” 😂

PastaSauceHoarder · 02/10/2018 22:26

Hi all!! I dropped off this thread for a bit when it went a little quiet but I'm glad to see its more active again. Smile

Big hello to everyone who's recently joined! I'll also re-introduce myself:

My Age: 22
Husbands Age: 24
TTC #2
Waiting until November to avoid clashing with our daughters birthday.

Well it feels amazing to actually say that I AM TTC AS OF NEXT MONTH!! 🎉🎉 I seriously can't wait. It was a whole two years ago yesterday that we found out we were expecting our now toddler. Smile I'm just so desperate to be pregnant again.

Hello @cupcakesandglitter and @dottydally, how are you both?! 💛

dottydally · 02/10/2018 21:05

@Rachael321 but that is what we are here for!

@AlwaysaNortherner it is good but harder than you might think. My automatic response is to want to talk about babies and join in when people talk about their children. I only have 4 periods to go though!

Welcome @PumpkinsMum18! I will have been off contraception a year before we ttc. If you can stand condoms it is worthwhile. We don't use them all the time, tracking my cycle and making sure we pull out are helping us.

I think there is quite a lot of research on the link between the pill and anxiety and depression. It's not well publicised!

@cupcakesandglitter I am good! How are you?

I'm looking for new work clothes. Is it bad that I'm looking at things that are a little looser on the tummy so I can get away with being a bit chubbier when I do get pregnant but don't want to tell people? Blush at the minute I live in slim trousers and fairly tight tops but might have to venture into the shift dress/floaty top world! It would be really obvious if I put weight on in my current clothes.

cupcakesandglitter · 02/10/2018 14:11

Hi ladies, just thought I'd drop in to see how you're all doing? ❤️

PumpkinsMum18 · 02/10/2018 14:06

@AlwaysaNortherner thank you, that’s good advice! I have also suffered with anxiety in the past and I have wondered if the pill was having an adverse effect in this regard. I have worked out that the earliest I could fall pregnant and still qualify for full mat pay is mid-November. So this could be a good time to come off the pill, but concieving then would be getting close to the September/October mass family birthday zone!! Spose that wouldn’t be a huge problem though, joint birthday parties are fun right?! 😂

AlwaysaNortherner · 02/10/2018 12:57

@PumpkinsMum18 I guess it depends how much of a disaster it would be if you got pregnant straight away. For us it would be financially less ideal, but still OK, so we decided to go for it. Also my DH was really supportive of me coming off the pill to see if it helped with my anxiety and to have fewer chemicals going round my body! He said it was a bit weird going back to condoms at first - it reminded him of being a teenager haha - but it really hasn't been a problem. And I'm using Natural Cycles so we only have to use condoms some of the time.

@bubblegumunicorn We got that all the time when we got married, luckily we have been married for 4 years now and people have mostly given up assuming that having a baby is top of our to-do list Wink

bubblegumunicorn · 02/10/2018 10:39

I've noticed we've started getting pressure to have a baby from friends and family we've been married for 10 months now and that seams to be what is expected next! We are wanting the fact we have a plan in place to be between us and only us for now though! I was late this month by 5 days which was terrifying as that has never happened at all in 14 years Hmmbut a huge relief when it came which now I'm feeling guilty about as it's only 6 weeks until we plan to start TTC and my only excuse is I want to ride rollercoasters I feel like this will be my last holiday to just be a 27 year old/big kid before properly settling down so I want to enjoy it but I also really want a baby! Has anyone else felt like this whilst WTC?

Age 27 DH 27
TTC 1st
Waiting till November so I can enjoy Orlando properly!

PumpkinsMum18 · 02/10/2018 07:33

It’s been interesting to read how some of you have come off contraception before officially TTC.

I have been on the pill a long time (over 8 years) and I’m curious to find out what my normal cycle actually is, but I don’t want to risk getting pregnant earlier and messing up our plan! I don’t think I’d be able to convince DH to use condoms either 🤔

PumpkinsMum18 · 01/10/2018 18:10

waves Hi all! Brand new to the forum! Can I join?

Age: 27 Hubby: 30

TTC First time

Waiting til - end of January 2019

Reason for waiting: I will get better mat leave package when I’ve been at my job for 2 years (work anniversary in April). Also don’t want a September/October due date as loads of our family members have birthdays in these months already!

I wish we could start trying sooner as I am so broody! We met our 2 week old niece yesterday and she is soooo lovely! Grin

AlwaysaNortherner · 01/10/2018 18:07

@Rachael321 so sorry to hear about your mc. It's really tough, it does seem silly to wait sometimes when you think it might take many months once we 'properly' start ttc. But hopefully that won't happen to you the next time around.

@dottydally I love your "I hate kids" cover up haha. Various people at work keep dropping hints about me, I should have gone for that attitude too!

Rachael321 · 01/10/2018 16:58

@dottydally yeah I know it makes sense, I'm just not exactly patient when I know what I want! It's the head and heart arguing with each other that's the problem

dottydally · 01/10/2018 16:36

@Rachael321 sorry to hear Thanks

I know it's hard but good mat pay means you get more time with baby, just remember that. I wouldn't be able to afford a year off if I only got statutory.

There's nothing to say it will take 8 months again lovely!

OP posts:
Rachael321 · 01/10/2018 12:10

@AlwaysaNortherner @dottydally
Work is also part of the reason we are waiting!
It feels like it gets harder to put it off every day!
We had been trying from last November and I found out I was pregnant in July and unfortunately i MC in August. So feels silly to wait to start again! But with me now hoping for a new (and better) job it makes sense to wait to get mat pay etc.

But in my head I can't help but think if we wait 6 months or so and then if it takes another 8 months to get there etc it's getting on for 2 years waiting which is heart breaking Sad

dottydally · 01/10/2018 10:58

@AlwaysaNortherner yes! Sometimes I think it's a silly reason to wait (I know there's more to life than work) but deep down I know it's right. It will mean our future child has the best life possible. I am also on period count down. If only DP knew how much of an obsession this had become!

I was an emotional mess on the pill but I didn't make the link until I came off. I had been on it since I was 14 so I just assumed it was my normal - I would cry at anything and became quite an anxious person. I think it's more common than I realised. I am a new woman these days!

Maybe she is! Someone joked that I was pregnant last week. I sat there, awkwardly. I know I'm not but their joke was made because I am maintaining a 'I hate kids' view with my friends/work so it was a completely ridiculous suggestion that I could be. Slightly concerned that it will mean they think it's an accident though...

OP posts:
AlwaysaNortherner · 01/10/2018 10:35

Hi @dottydally. We are both waiting till Jan and both for work reasons, maybe we can keep each other sane until then!

We've also had a few 'oops' moments with NC and condoms. Mainly while drunk on holiday Blush It wouldn't be the end of the world if I got pregnant now though so it works for us. Also feel SO much better for being off the pill! I've suffered with anxiety in the past and that seems to be much better now, I don't know if there's any medical evidence to back that up but it's definitely made a difference for me.

Last week I had a really vivid dream that my sister was pregnant! (She's not. As far as I know...)

dottydally · 01/10/2018 10:20

Just popping in to say hi waves. I have been awful at keeping up recently. Life just takes over!

Sending good luck to @Barker26. Do come back and let us know how things are going Star

Welcome to @Frizzy1986 @lewk @hippybottomas @AlwaysaNortherner @Rachael321 and a big congratulations to @rollerskaterdata on the new house!

There are so many new faces I think I'll recap.

Age - 23 (24 in November), DP 26
TTC - #1
Waiting until - January 2019
Reason for waiting - I'm holding out for a big promotion which will be announced in December! Also waiting to be clear from any Zika risk.

Waiting is getting increasingly more difficult. DP is all ready to go and it's taking every inch of my self control to not give in. I know this is for the best though she says whilst googling prams in her lunch break.

I am a flaky NC user so we are relying on condoms and pulling out until we are ready to go for it. Been off contraception 9 months and feeling so much better for it.

Rachael321 · 01/10/2018 09:30

Morning all
Had to pop in and calm myself down.
Have been going stir crazy thinking about ttc and getting there in the end and having our wee bundle.
Every night for the last week I've dreamt that I found out I was pregnant, pregnant in the whole dream and then last night was in Labour!
OH is happy to ttc whenever I am and it's getting oh so tempting to just go for it!
Head and heart going in different directions!

AlwaysaNortherner · 30/09/2018 18:27

Hi everyone. Hope I can hop on Smile

Age: 28
TTC: 1st time
Waiting until Jan 2019
Reason for waiting: Waiting until I've been in my new job long enough to qualify for full maternity pay (and also long enough that I feel like I vaguely know what I'm doing at work! Can only deal with one stress at a time lol). I have talked about it with my DH and he's basically on board but I don't think he realises that I'm pretty much counting down the periods until we can start!! We're using Natural Cycles at the moment and it's been really interesting (and reassuring) getting to know my cycle better, but it does mean I'm a little over obsessed with it...

SenoraSurf · 29/09/2018 23:39

@hippybottomas welcome! South west is best as they say. Though, I've changed my username to add to the anonymity on another post Grin
So glad you've managed to get everything in place for TTC. My OH seems to be on the fence with trying next month (but normally he comes round to things when they get nearer so I'm expecting it to be all systems go come half term).
I totally think men take longer to get there mentally than us ladies.
The folic acid makes it feel so much more real!

Hope everyone is staying sane during the wait. The weeks are passing mighty slowly. It's yet another reason for me to be excited for the winter season though Smile
