New thread ladies! @PastaSauceHoarder @Goostacean @Barker26 @crazychemist @DoveGreylove @springsummerautumnwinter can't remember who else to tag.

I know @cupcakesandglitter has linked us to a new thread but I'm not sure I am strong enough to be surrounded by those TTC already!

@Pinkroseuk good luck!

@PastaSauceHoarder such an exciting thought! Very jealous but happy for you, of course.

@Blueberry001 I struggle with remembering to take it early enough. Im quite often 'awake' half an hour before my alarm god knows why as my alarm goes off stupidly early and I doze. But I think I should be taking my temperature as soon as I wake rather than when my alarm actually goes off. It's trial and error but my graph this month looks pretty good and is tying in with the other symptoms I have noticed. I had no idea before all this that there were so many things you could track.

Oh no that's awful. It's hard that there is no reason for it as well. We've got everything crossed that you will be okay!

A last holiday sounds like a lovely idea. My DP wants to go skiing in January though so not the relaxing holiday you've got in mind! I'll take a little convincing yet but I agree with the idea of having time just the two of you. Would you start ttc in February after your holiday? I think that's when we will start (all being well) as I should be free from zika worries by then.

The weekend here is expected to be nice weather so we might head out for the day. I keep saying I want to go ice skating but in reality I think I'm pining for winter. Other than that we will just be lazy. A few busy weeks coming up so taking the chance to relax while we can.

Hi @Dotty!

I’ve just started using the app from Saturday, not quite sure of my way around it yet but I’m sure I’ll figure it out as I go. Although having to remember to take my temp at the same time is a challenge!

Well there is no medical reason, but for some reason my family have always sadly suffered, my Mum had 4 MC and a stillborn before me, my aunties suffered as did my grandma. I think maybe just bad luck rather than a condition but even so it makes me very nervous.

We were talking tonight about booking a little holiday in early Jan/mid Jan so we can have a last ‘no baby’, still have a few wines and eat what we want time away! There’s some good deals to the Canary Islands at the moment so I’m hoping I can convince him, as that would be a lovely last hurrah as the two of us hopefully!

@pasta, hello!

How is everyone today? Nearly the weekend! Any plans for anyone? I’m off to see my in laws, they are about 2 hours away so we don’t go too often but it’ll be lovely to see my nephew xxx

PastaSauceHoarder · 05/09/2018 21:47

My ovulation strips usually look like that a week-ish before a get a positive, @Pinkroseuk. The few days before it gets darker and darker and then I get that lovely bold line! Not sure if its the same for everyone, but it might be worth keeping your eye on. Smile

Hi there, @Blueberry001! Hope you had a lovely day off. Smile

I had a wonderful thought yesterday; this time next month, I'll be TTC next month! I'm so excited!! ❤

Pinkroseuk · 05/09/2018 20:15

Hi everyone -
For some reason mumsnet have stopped emailing me so I haven't been getting notifications of posts!
I have started ovulation strips- does this look like the start of a line or am I too hopeful?!

@dottydally I think Hubby will find out when I have my next appointment with gynaecologist.

@EthelThePiratesDaughter that makes sense! If you can work etc. I'm sure it's good. Much better than ours would be.

Perhaps not. I don't drink much anyway and I don't think my eating habits would really change so hopefully I am good on that front.

Welcome @Blueberry001

Of course you may join us. Have you been using NC before now? It's taken me a while to get the hang of it and I got a lot of red days at the start. I was using it as I thought we'd start NTNP from the new year and then properly ttc from June, but recent events have shown me life is too short so we are going to ttc as soon as we can. I am still temping - hoping it might help when we do ttc!

Christmas sounds like a good plan. Why is the MC risk so high? If you don't mind me asking.

Jealous of your day off!

Blueberry001 · 05/09/2018 11:51

Hi Lovely Ladies,

Can I join? 👋🏻

I stopped taking my pill on Saturday (1st Sept) and currently on my withdrawal bleed, hubby and I have decided to use natural cycles for a few months whilst everything goes back to normal. We were going to just go for it, but I think we’ve decided to wait until the new year to properly start TTC! (eeek).

We’re going to wait just to have a last Christmas together as ‘us’ and it would be impossible to hide it from my family, but we also have a huge risk of MC in our family history so I also wouldn’t want to say anything until we were in the safe zone, and it gives us a little bit of time to consider getting our house back on the market and moving and all that.

We had sold it last year (twice!) but both sales fell through on the last hurdle and I was so disheartened I took it off the market. I mean it wouldn’t be the worst thing if we had a baby in this house, we have 2 bedrooms, it’s just not in the best area and we don’t have a garden/storage so I would prefer a bit more room!

Our stats are;

Me: 31
DH: 35
TTC: 1st
Waiting until January!

Hope everyone is well today! I’m currently finally having a day off work, and a sit down with a brew after blitzing the house work and washing! Xxx

EthelThePiratesDaughter · 05/09/2018 09:32

My French was already fluent for social situations before I moved so I was starting from a high level, but picking up all the professional vocabulary and for non-everyday situations has been challenging. I still feel very frustrated and like I struggle to communicate a lot of the time but I must have improved a lot in the last year. It just doesn't feel like I have because I don't notice the changes myself. (Always nice when someone else says I've improved though!)

I don't think travelling to different holiday destinations would arouse suspicion, honestly. I think zika virus is something that only people TTC tend to think about. It's when you have to stop drinking alcohol and eating certain food that people know what you're up to.

dottydally · 05/09/2018 09:21

@EthelThePiratesDaughter wow only a year! You've picked it up quickly. Good luck with the apartment and doctors vocabulary. I think it would freak me out too!

Raspberry pink sounds amazing. Are you wearing white?

Re zika. We are in the same boat on holidays. We love the long haul/tropical destinations and do them every year but now I am having to look closer to home. I'm worried that in itself will arouse suspicion as to our intentions!

I think if I was pregnant i would just have to tell work. It would be a case of telling those who needed to know but it being strictly confidential. These things have a way of getting out, though, and I feel like it would ruin the excitement/surprise for me. I'm really looking forward to keeping that little secret for the first 12 weeks or so! I may have to keep it longer as our family is very spread out (with some overseas - not far though) and I would want to tell them (in person if I can) before work. That said, I have no idea how big I might get so I might have to tell people at 12 weeks before they guess. I don't think I want anyone other than my parents to know before 12 weeks though.

OP posts:
EthelThePiratesDaughter · 05/09/2018 08:03

Also it must be frustrating not being able to refuse to go to a zika area for work because you can't tell your boss you're TTC. What do you do if you're already pregnant but haven't told them yet?

EthelThePiratesDaughter · 05/09/2018 08:02

I've been here just over a year but my OH and I did years of long distance before that, so I've spent a lot of time here.

I find it absolutely fine socially, and 95% fine professionally, but it's when I have to deal with non-everyday situations (like wedding planning) in French that its stressful, because its vocabulary I wouldn't normally use.

After the wedding it'll be apartment buying vocabulary and medical stuff - I'm healthy so have managed to avoid doctors thus far but once we're TTC I'll need to find a doctor to get my coil removed and then no doubt discuss all kinds of weird stuff in French!

Colour scheme for the wedding is raspberry pink!

I've been wondering about zika too. It seems to be everywhere. We wanted to go somewhere exotic for our honeymoon but perhaps ten days in Greece or Spain or Italy is more what we need at this point in time!

dottydally · 05/09/2018 07:21

@EthelThePiratesDaughter you've plenty of time yet! What colour scheme are you going for?

I'm feel nosey now.. but I assume you are not originally from France? How long have you been there to be able to speak French so well? I have a friend that can speak English and Spanish equally and I find it amazing to listen to her! She just flicks between the two like it's nothing and then there's me desperately trying to remember a few basic phrases from my high school Spanish Blush

Do you do many business trips? I'm going away later this year and I'm in a massive sulk about the impact it'll have on ttc. Made worse by the fact it's a zika zone and I'll have to wait 2 cycles when I get back not at all bitter.

OP posts:
EthelThePiratesDaughter · 04/09/2018 20:59

dotty and pasta, we're getting there with the wedding organisation but there's still quite a lot to do. I live in France and my French is good but I still find it really daunting calling up wedding dress shops and florists and hairdressers in French and trying to sort things out when I don't really have a clue what I'm doing so I put it off and then get stressed because it's getting late and I haven't done it yet! And I'm busy with a really big project at work at the moment and I've just found out I have to go on a transatlantic business trip next week so I've had to rearrange several wedding related appointments. I just can't wait until it's our wedding day, this project is over, I'll be off work for a few weeks, and what's done is done and what isn't done isn't done so there's no point stressing about it... If you get what I mean!

And then once we get back we'll be looking for a bigger apartment. I really hope that by Christmas we've found something and then we can just relax, drink all the wine, eat all the cheese and start TTC!

Being pregnant would also be a really good excuse for not being sent on last minute business trips.

dottydally · 03/09/2018 16:33

@PastaSauceHoarder I haven't spoken to him about it yet as he is still at work. We'll have a chat tonight. I know he will be super supportive (as he has been with everything) but disappointed. He is so ready to be a dad.

I am trying to focus on the opportunity the trip presents for me long term but I'm so broody!

OP posts:
PastaSauceHoarder · 03/09/2018 16:07

Oh @dottydally, how disappointing. Sad I'm sorry you've been told you have to wait even longer, that truly sucks. How does your husband feel about it?

dottydally · 03/09/2018 15:24

@PastaSauceHoarder that sounds lovely! I get new pyjamas, a book and fluffy socks. I often get gingerbreads too! I still spend Christmas Eve at my parents, even though we have our own house.

Bit of a grump here. Had my appointment to discuss vaccinations for my trip. They know we want to ttc as I saw them before I came off the pill so we talked about zika. I'll have to wait til February to make sure I get two full cycles before we try. I think I knew this but had hoped there might be some magic why I didn't have to wait. She also said I should wait even if I don't think I've been bitten just in case Sad

Wow ladies, its September! Which means we're all one month closer to TTC - how exciting!! 🎉

@dottydally her main presents are a baby doll (I was going to buy her one when I next got pregnant, but she loves babies right now so I just gave in!), her first ever Barbie doll, some of that Duplo toddler Lego stuff, and I'm in the middle of making her a busy board right now. Smile And shes got clothes, a ton of books and lots of lovely little stocking fillers. Shes going to love it all, I'm so excited! Grin
Its lovely that you still get a Christmas Eve box from your mum! What does she put in it?

@EthelThePiratesDaughter how exciting about your wedding! Have you much else to get sorted?

Well I'm feeling mega autumny today! 🍂🎃🍁 I've been cleaning the house and I lit a big fat candle so it smells lovely. Looking at some recipes for meals to suit colder nights too so if anyone has any suggestions! I'm going to ask my mum to teach me how to make her stew, its absolutely fab.

dottydally · 02/09/2018 22:24

Welcome @EthelThePiratesDaughter! Someone at work was talking to me the other day about how all consuming it is when you decide you want a baby. Like trying to explain how it feels. I just sat quietly thinking 'yes, trust me, I know how it feels to be desperate for a baby'. I am also waiting til next year so will be here to keep you company! Exciting news about your wedding, are you all set?

@PastaSauceHoarder Christmas shopping is so hard! What did you get your toddler? I can't wait to shop for a little one (and do Father Christmas!)

@Jelliestogether sorry to hear about AF. What is insotol? Sorry if you've already explained and I have missed it!

@happytobemrsg Christmas Eve boxes! I still get one from my mum you are so organised! You'll be chilling in December when everyone else is panic shopping.

@Pinkroseuk When do you get the results?

OP posts:
EthelThePiratesDaughter · 02/09/2018 21:20

Everyone's in the same boat, huh? Smile

I'm getting married in 6 weeks, so if we got pregnant right now I would probably still fit into my dress as long as I stop eating pizza like I did tonight but I wouldn't be able to drink all the lovely champagne.

I'm crazy busy at the moment with work and wedding planning so we would quite like to just have a stress free honeymoon and enjoy the first few months of being married. We're both really excited to start TTC, but we live in France and there's no way I could hide an early pregnancy at Christmas because I wouldn't be able to eat or drink anything we normally have. It's not just about the alcohol (that would be hard enough), but all the soft cheese, pâté, cured meat etc. (smoked salmon? oysters?) as well. So I think we will get Christmas out of the way and then start in January. I know it will probably take longer than we expect, but it would just be sod's law if we got pregnant before Christmas so better not risk it really.

But January feels like ages away and everyone is having babies!

PastaSauceHoarder · 02/09/2018 21:04

Hi @EthelThePiratesDaughter! I think we're all feeling super broody right now so you've definitely come to the right thread! When are you thinking of TTC?

Wish I could help @dottydally, but I haven't got a clue what to get my own parents! I'm happy to say that I've completely finished my little toddlers presents though (but that was the fun and easy part of Christmas shopping! Wink).

I'm really really REALLY feeling the envy pang today - it was a family event today and both of my husbands sisters are currently pregnant. November needs to hurry up! ☹

EthelThePiratesDaughter · 02/09/2018 14:46

Hi ladies, mind if I join you?

I'm getting super broody but not quite ready to start TTC yet!

Jelliestogether · 01/09/2018 08:53

@happytobemrsg you are right there is always a bit of hope and worry mixed in!!

Thought I'd update. AF arrived at CD48. Definitely feeling more disappointed as even the OH had come round to the idea of the possibility! So this time im going to give the insotol a try! It can't hurt I guess!

happytobemrsg · 01/09/2018 08:03

@PastaSauceHoarder it's so hard talking about this with people IRL. Everyone seems to have an opinion!

Thanks for welcoming me back @Jelliestogether & @Pinkroseuk! I think the unprotected moments are the worst because they make you hope & worry at the same time!

@dottydally I've already done DS' Christmas Eve box! Thomas pjs, a Build a Bear, toy car & some Christmassy books! I've bought my bff's presents & know wheat I'm getting DH.... I swear I get into the Christmas spirit in February Grin

dottydally · 31/08/2018 07:16

I know this isn't the Christmas thread but I've started to think about presents. I've got no idea what to get my parents! I really want to be organised but I'm not used to having to come up with ideas in August Blush

OP posts:
Pinkroseuk · 30/08/2018 17:52

Thanks @Jelliestogether - it all went well so just have to wait for the results at my next appointment.

Yes it's definitely the not knowing what's happening that gets me! Xx

Jelliestogether · 30/08/2018 17:00

@pinkroseuk you are so right waiting is so hard!! This is harder than any tww as you never know when your actually due anyway! Plus with the chance of a few unprotected moments the hope is there....even though officially not trying!

Good luck with your husbands analysis today!xx
