DH and i were referred to a specialist after multiple mc's and an ep. well, today AF arrived, i rang up to check on my HSG xray and they said that i couldnt have it done this month coz you have to have 10d between the start of your period and the HSG, we also had our follow up appt with the specialist today. he asked me (quite abruptly) why i hadnt had the HSG and i said that i had the 1st appt in march, in april an early mc so they wouldnt do it that month, and last month they were full during that 10d window.

he went mad and said that as long as i wasnt pg it could be done at any time. so while i was waiting to come in and examine me (remember, i have my period) he rang the hospital.

after the examination he said "it was shrewsbury hospital that you'd spoken to, not telford"
"thats right" sez i
"you didnt say that" sez he
"no, but.."
"why not"
"because.."
"they are both hospitals, but in different towns. didnt you know that mrs w?"

so i burst into tears. he gets my appt back for the 11th we have another follow-up in july and im on high dose folic acid, low dose asprin and have to gain 1/2 a stone.

great!

Lissie, it's amazing how insenstive these guys can be, I really don't think they can have any clue what the average woman facing this goes through. But, look at it postively, at least he sorted the crap hospital out. I had an HSG a few months ago and was told it had to be within 14 days but this is to try and make sure you are not pregnant and they work on that most women ovulate around day 14. You did mention that 'we can ttc in the meantime' but I assume you know not to until after the HSG? Sorry if I sound like some bloody nurse (or horrible consultant!), just thought I'd mention what I was told. Good luck though and thinking of you.

spugs · 04/06/2007 19:13

ahh lissie he sounds like a complete tw@, i hope your feeling better [big hug emoticon] if you dont mind me asking - why do you have to put on half a stone? x

cedar12 · 04/06/2007 17:53

Sorry Lissie, what a bastard.

lissie · 04/06/2007 17:51

thanks. ive calmed down a bit now. DH was with me and the only other time ive seen him so angry was when i was in labour... see a theme?

Oh Lissie, you really deserve a bit better than this. As if you haven't suffered enough at the hands of negligent medics. . Hope you are ok xx

scorpio1 · 04/06/2007 17:47
Wink
lissie · 04/06/2007 17:46

thanks sweetheart. and the good news is, we can ttc in the meantime

scorpio1 · 04/06/2007 17:42

Good luck for all those appts then

lissie · 04/06/2007 17:41

lol at up the stick. thank you all, you've made me feel tons better.

so to re-cap: i have chromosone bloods tomorrow, my HSG on the 11th and follow-up appt on the 16th july. dh HAS to spank his monkey coz the mcs could easily be chromosonal probs on his part rather than my body being pants. and i have to take low dosage asprin and high dose folic acid

lissie
He sounds vile - but the upside is that his vile attitude obviously got results with the hospital, so hopefully it will work out in the end.

scorpio1 · 04/06/2007 17:20

lissie, im so sorry your appt went this way. what an arse.

sending you love xx

Saturn74 · 04/06/2007 16:59

Oh Lissie
The doctor sounds like a complete arse.
And unprofessional and lacking in empathy.

You deserve much better.

Aitch · 04/06/2007 16:57

agree with atilla, don't go on your own again poppet. this all means the sun, moon and stars to you but to him it's clearly just a job. he was a rude and awful bastard, but the sad fact is that a lot of consultants get their hardons from behaving like that. particularly to staff and often to patients as well. it's a disgrace.

anyway, where does that leave us? are you getting the hsg on the 11th? that really is something great to focus on... and good news about the aspirin too. come on, dearest, let's get you up the stick.

kittypants · 04/06/2007 16:52

thats awful.poor you,not what you need!

Budababe · 04/06/2007 16:50

Sounds horrendous Lissie. It's bloody stressful enough going through all of this stuff isn't it?

Hope it all goes well for you.

lissie · 04/06/2007 16:18

thanks. was worried that id over-reacted a bit.

CountTo10 · 04/06/2007 16:17

So sorry to hear all this lissie big {{{{hugs}}}} for you. The guy sounds like an insensitive arse. I think you should complain, there's just no need for that.

my1stbaby · 04/06/2007 16:14

oh lissie, i'm so sorry about your horrible experience. what a jerk!! what is it about these consultants? i had a bad experience too with the fertility consultant at my general hospital. i waited 6mths for app., he saw me and dh for 5mins at the most and basically told us to have more sex and shoo us out the door! i wanted to scream and shout at him. dh had to pull me away. our next follow up app was not until 8mths later, so we thought sod this and decided to go privately.
is he the only specialist attached to your hospital? if not, you can find out who the others are, find out if they are ok and ask your gp to refer you to a specific one. you shouldn't have to put up with plain nastiness just because he's a consultant.
hope you are feeling a bit better now {hugs}.

lissie · 04/06/2007 16:13

to be fair, once he got shrewsbury on the phone he gave them a proper earful and said the he would speak to the radiologist but he wanted them to xray me in 7d time, whether they wanted to or not

haarpsichordcarrier · 04/06/2007 16:11

rude rude rude fkn bastard. complain about him, that is appalling and totally unacceptable.

AttilaTheMeerkat · 04/06/2007 16:10

I would think as well Shrewsbury only do HSG's during that 10 day slot due to monetary constraints. No other reason.

AttilaTheMeerkat · 04/06/2007 16:09

Lissie,

I would also not attend such appointments on my own as they can be very stressful. It helps to have someone else with you to ask questions. Next time if at all possible take your DH with you.

Think as well Shrewsbury hospital gave you duff information to start with with regards to the HSG; the fault therefore lies with them and not yourself.

LilRedWG · 04/06/2007 16:05

(((Lissie)))

lissie · 04/06/2007 16:05

we see him in july. he's the head of fertility too!

tbh thought dh was going to punch him. the nurse said he was a bit scary but wasnt expecting that!
