AF 1 week late but still BFN

I was wondering if there was anyone else out there who is or has been in a similar position? And if so what did you do?

My cycle is normally 31/32 days long. I’m now on cycle day 40 but still getting BFN. We have been actively TTC for last 4 months so praying for a positive result soon.

When is too early to call your GP?
When did others get their BFP?

I’ve read threads talking about chemical pregnancies, ectopic pregnancies etc so getting nervous and really hoping to get some answers soon.

Any help would be great, thank you

@PenguinBeach when is your doctors appointment? Really hope you get good answers soon. Flowers

I asked when I should receive blood test results and was told Tuesday or Wednesday so have booked an appointment for Wednesday with me GP. My plan is if the result is negative I still want answers so will need to see him anyway.

It’s just so frustrating isn’t it? Confused xx

@Kr250710 bless you, that’s really tough! I hope the appointment goes well tomorrow.

The doctor I spoke to earlier seemed to be saying I would get an appointment to work out what was going on if this urine test came back negative, so I’m hoping either way I will get answers soon.

@penguinbeach I completely feel your pain. I’m currently on cd68 and am normally a 30 day cycle! I’ve hd only negative urine tests, including the doctors 😢😢 feeling really down and fed up about not knowing. I have just been in to the doctors again and demanded a blood test as I have epilepsy and need to know. I have this tomorrow and am actually driving out of town to get seen quicker!! My fiancé is so calm and relaxed about it it’s driving me insane!! 😢😢 waiting for the results is going to be hell!!

Yeh it’s nowhere near a strong enough line to really know 🙁 I have another FR test I can do tomorrow morning, I always use my FMU when testing. I know this sounds crazy but has anyone ever known of the Hcg being too strong to come up on a test and when the sample is diluted it then comes up positive? Sounds crazy but I have read it in a few different places, not sure if it would be the case though.

And yes I’ve been tracking my BBT, it stayed up (with small fluctuations) until about 3 days ago when it went down a fair bit but not as low as ovulation, but then has climbed back up again yesterday and today and is back to where it has been? X

@penguinbeach I think I can see the faintest trace of a line but not sure, might be worth testing again tomorrow morning. Did you test first thing in the morning? Have you been tracking your temp? After I had given up hope it was my temp staying high that made me do another test.

Another update: apparently the lab couldn’t test my sample for some bizarre reason, I got the call from the dog ores yesterday to tell me. So they have asked for another sample.
In the meantime I thought I would do another HPT to see if the situation has changed. Still looks like it’s negative but there could possibly be a very faint line, does anyone else see anything?
I rang the doctors this morning to see if they will do a blood test but they said no as their urine test is different to HPT and is 100%. So will take a sample in tomorrow morning and then wait till next week. If that comes back negative then they will see me to try and find out why my period still hasn’t started. Currently CD48 and I’m normally only 31/32 day cycles so something is definitely happening surely?
I’m hoping for some good news soon as I’m getting really down 😢 x

Update from me: I am still just waiting for the results to come back. Still no sign of AF showing up at all.
Symptoms mostly the same as last week - backache, bloated, and nauseous from time to time (mornings and after being in the car for a while especially) but not being sick.

@Timaru is giving me hope of getting a BFP - congratulations! X

I've read that for some people it can take longer for HCG to show or if you ovulated much later than usual that could help explain the BFNs. Fingers crossed for all of you, keep us posted!

Hi Everyone, I'm going through the same just now!

I'm CD 40 after 4 months of trying. I'd put myself at 22 dpo but with AF being so late I'm not so sure (usually 28 day cycle). Had very very light spotting for 5 days last week but that's fully gone now so trying to hold off another HPT for a few more days, been POAS since 10dpo and constant BFN! @Timaru is giving me hope! 🤞

I had neg tests up untill today. I tested last week it was neg i'm 6 weeks n 2 days late.
But i was 3 weeks 6 days late last cycle & af came. Hope you get a bfp!

An update from me. I’m on cd 65, still no sign of af. 2 neg home tests. Went to docs and did a urine test which went to the ‘lab’ and that came back negative today! Can’t get back in until next week unless I scrape an emergency app which I’m going to try! I’m so down and have been crying almost all day - I just don’t know what is going on. I’m usually a standard 30 day cycle! I’m so so so fed up Sad x

@glitterbug17, sorry this month wasn’t your month Sad It can be so disheartening especially when the period cramps kick in. Everything crossed for next month!!

Update from me, I started spotting on Thursday and thought AF was on its way. Still hadn’t turned into a proper one by Saturday so did another test and... my first ever BFP! It was pretty faint so have done quite a few now, think they are getting darker but don’t know if that’s just wishful thinking. Went to the drs today and he reckoned 8 weeks based on my last period but my cycles are long and BBT would suggest more like 5/6 weeks. It’s really strange I don’t feel pregnant, no morning sickness yet!

Hi just wanted to join as going through the same thing. I'm sure I ovulated on 2nd August CD 15. I always get ovulation pain and normally test which confirms I'm right and AF comes 13/14 days later. Well for some reason this month I didn't test Hmm But I definitely had the pain and mucus (sorry tmi). So now it's 17 days later and no AF and two negative tests. With DD I got a faint positive the first day of my missed period.

Know how you all feel. I'm usually 25/26 day cycle and am now cd32 with no sign of AF but just bfn on tests. I'm waiting a few more days before I test again now.

It's really hard when you're ttc and this happens. We've been ttc for 19months now and this is the longest I've ever been late for. Had months where I was a day or two late, but never this long... so hard seeing bfns all the time though! 😫

You have my complete sympathy. @Penguin I have also just sent a sample of for testing and should have mine back Monday.

I’m currently on cycle day 62 of what is normally a 30day cycle with 2x negative tests.

Hello Penguin. I'm currently on day 33 of what is normally a 27/28 day cycle, all BFNs. It's maddening! 6 months TTC so getting a bit stressed out - the excitement of a late period followed by the feeling of seeing stark white tests is all a bit much right now.
