Hi girls, hope you're ok, having a lovely holiday with hubby and son. Can I ask can you have a period twice in a month? I'm trying to work out my cycle length and put it in a calculator and it said 23 days. Last night only the tiniest pinprick of light pink was on the tissue like literally 1 or 2 nothing this morning, my boobs are a bit tender, I know this can indicate ovulation, possible preggo or af. Haven't brought any tests with me cause I'm trying to hold off until at least the end of the month. X

Hopefulforourrainbow · 17/09/2018 11:24

Hey that's me home and suffering big time from jet lag! Have zero motivation but have a mountain of washing and no food in the cupboards so need to go shopping and get organised for going back to work. It's such a thought! Had a lovely 2 weeks in the sun. Was so nice to spend time with hubby. Don't know if I've ovulated yet this cycle or not. I guess time will tell!
How are you all doing? Nice to hear from you @curly. Keep in touch. Welcome to the new girls. Sorry you've found yourselves here. I've got a baby shower to go to next weekend. Dreading it but it's a close friend so have to go. She has same due date as I would have had for 2nd mc 😭

CurlyTwirlyTwos · 17/09/2018 05:02

Hello!
I’m catching up on the thread! Sorry to find yourselves on here newscomers, it’s awful.

Massive congratulations @Miami81 @AnneLovesGilbert @Labmum - it’s is so, so lovely reading about your scans and progressing pregnancies! Time seems to be flying by I can’t believe you are all past 12 weeks now, amazing!

@Munchies89 I’m so unbelievably sorry, it’s utterly shit and unfair. I hope that you are being kind to yourself. Thinking of you. @TaysN let us know how you are - have you had any early scans yet?

@Hopefulforarainbow - your holiday sounds amazing, I am very jealous! I chuckled when Anne told you bugger off and enjoy yourself Grin Enjoy the FW coming up Wink

I’m okay here - sorry I’ve gone AWOL - I needed a proper break from everything. It’s been a month since last mc, but feeling like I can take part again. After last month (4th mc for the newcomers) I’ve had 2 counselling sessions (so far) which have been helpful to get everything off my chest. She’s very kind and is helping me see that it’s not my fault. I’m starting to cautiously feel better, but still have up and down days.

The gp has referred me to the rmc at local hospital, but there is a 2-3 month wait list. I have since found out that it is a gyne clinic which covers rmc. The ‘proper’ rmc in my area is Liverpool Women’s but you only get a referral there after testing locally.

It might be a 6 - 9 month long haul but we’ve decided that we are definitely taking a ttc break until the new year, which is probably best as I still have very low moments.

I bought a couple of books on miscarriage, so reading those so I can understand a bit of the language for when we get referred.
I’m finding it depressing reading tbh, so I dip in and out! I never thought it would get to this, but there we are it’s best to embrace it!

I’ll probably remain quiet on the thread and check in every now and again - I’m happy to support anyone who needs it!

You are all an amazing (overused word) group of woman who have been so generous with your knowledge. I love the concept of contributing to research. Too much is still unknown - I’ll keep an eye out in my own area!

Take care ladies xx

Labmum · 15/09/2018 21:50

@funnybunnyfluff it sounds like you're hitting the peak. Try take in plenty of fluids. Hopefully the cramping and bleeding will start to ease so you can try get a decent night's sleep.

@wishingonastar77 I know @AnneLovesGilbert is a fan of acupuncture, it's not something I've tried but it's really common on the TTC boards. Good you've got some test results already, hopefully at you're appointment in October you can discuss it all and make a plan going forward. In the meantime the ladies here are all lovely and "get it" so vent/offload away.

Funnybunnyfluff · 15/09/2018 19:46

@Labmum thank you so much for your information. My cramping in the last hour or so has been constant and the bleeding/clots are getting worst.
I'm just seating on the loo as i feel more comfortable.

Did you find at night it eases off the last two nights been hardly nothing until o get up I'm hoping tonight might be the same.

WishingonaStar77 · 15/09/2018 19:34

@Labmum thank you. Yes I have my appointment in October but I've already paid privately for some blood tests to rule out APS and thrombosis.
Only thing that came back was Thrombosis Gene MTHFT variant. I wasn't advised I'd this has any impact on MC but reading up on this there is mixed opinion. I'll discuss with my consultant to see their opinion.
But I have an appointment to start acupuncture next week as I've heard great things about egg quality improvement with this x

Labmum · 15/09/2018 19:11

@wishingonastar77 are you getting a referral to the recurrent miscarriage clinic? So sorry to hear of your losses.

Labmum · 15/09/2018 19:10

@funnybunnyfluff and @wishingonastar77 so sorry you both find yourselves here. @fluff I've found with all mine that it builds up to a day or so of intense cramping and passing lots of clots, flooding maternity pads and then will gradually ease off so there's no cramping, just more normal period type bleeding. In two of mine my waters have "gone" and I passed the foetus before passing the rest of the clots so it's been quite obvious. Mine all were MMCs at 10-12 weeks where baby stopped growing at 8-9weeks. I've always waited for a normal period after just so I have peace of mind that all is back to normal. Not everyone does though.
Hole up with some box sets and chocolate and be kind to yourself lovely.

WishingonaStar77 · 15/09/2018 18:42

@funnybunnyfluff i don't know how far gone you were in your pregnancy or how regular your periods were before but sounds like it's progressing so I don't think you'll be still bleeding for 2-3 weeks. More like another week max.
Hope it's over for you soon though so you can move on and start to heal xx

Funnybunnyfluff · 15/09/2018 18:33

@WishingonaStar77

The last couple of days have been a bit like a period with cramping but today is worst much heavier bleeding and this afternoon the cramping is very frequent and more intense pain. Passing more today for sure.

WishingonaStar77 · 15/09/2018 18:28

@funnybunnyfluff thank you 😊

Unfortunately I think everyone is different in their experiences of MC.
For me with my 1st MC I'd been blood spotting for 4 days and had my scan on day 1 with HB then again on day 4 with no HB. When I got home that night I literally passed the pregnancy that night. Then bled and passed clots and tissue for the next 5 days. After that my period came just slightly later than normal (2 days late).

My 2nd was chemical at 5 weeks and I only bled for 6 days.

My 3rd was actually a D&C but I bled after for 2 weeks. Period came 1 week late that cycle.

Have you started bleeding heavily yet and cramping? Have you passed much yet?

Funnybunnyfluff · 15/09/2018 18:09

@WishingonaStar77

Sorry to hear all that you have been through and I can only imagine the stress an heart ache you have been through. I hope everything works out for you xx

It's interesting to hear other experiences. I'm on day 4 of the MMC. Not to sure how long it's going to last I have read 2/3 weeks.

Is that normal?

WishingonaStar77 · 15/09/2018 17:53

Hi all,

I'm new too can I join?

Funnybunnyfluff I miscarried in April (5weeks) then panicked when my period didn't come. I thought I was going to start going through perimenopause. But 5 days after my period was due I tested and got BFP. My GP was suspicious she thought it was leftover from previous MC but it was a new little bean.

Unfortunately after 3 healthy scans and HB seen, my scan at 11 weeks following a tiny bit of pink sporting showed no HB and growth stopped at 9+6 😥

My 3rd one now 1 @10wks 1@5wks 1@9+6wks

So yes you can Def conceive without having a period. But I think because mine was after a 5week chemical loss a the pregnancy hormones went away quickly. After a loss further along it may not be as easy but I'm sure it's happened x

Funnybunnyfluff · 15/09/2018 15:57

@beanhunter

Thank you that's interesting to know as you say to make sure your not still indicating pregnancy.

beanhunter · 15/09/2018 15:44

Funnybunnyfluff I’m so sorry you find yourself here.
Personally I waited until I had a negative pregnancy test (but that took almost 3 weeks for me as my baby was older so hcg would have been higher). I wanted to know that any pos test I got was genuine and not left over hormones. However, there’s no right and wrong here and what’s right for me won’t necessarily be the same for you. Be kind to yourself. It’s a crappy thing to have to go through xx

Funnybunnyfluff · 15/09/2018 14:03

Hello all, could I join?

I am going through a MMC at the moment. Was our first and hd scan at 12 weeks Thursday to be told baby stopped at around 6-8weeks. Not sure how I'm feeling at the moment but will get there.

How soon did people try again once the miscarriage has finished? Has anyone tried again before the first official period?
I was told by gp their are not rules but harder to date before first period after miscarriage.

Just looking for some guidance.

beanhunter · 15/09/2018 13:54

@taylsn I get massive anxiety before scans. And having them weekly at the moment and despite lots of symptoms still feel anxious. Doesn’t help that with my last mmc I was still vomiting the whole time so I feel I can’t trust it.

TaylsN · 15/09/2018 13:01

@miami my recent mmc was at 14 weeks, baby stopped developing around 8. The one prior to my son my 6 to 7 weeks. I feel like if we hear a heart beat Tues I'll feel more assured, but probably holding my breath the whole way through

beanhunter · 15/09/2018 09:16

Thanks. I don’t know what I want. I have carried to term once as well so it’s only because of my most recent mmc. For now I’m focusing on getting past that time point and then will think about how I feel.

Miami81 · 15/09/2018 07:36

@beanhunter if she wants to take you off the heparin make sure that you have a detailed chat about why. It's not doing any harm and if there is a chance that it is doing good then I would be wanting them to make the case for stopping it. I am on the heparin with no evidence of clotting issues in all my blood tests. My consultant has acknowledged that they keep finding new clotting things and that it is possible I have one that is untestable at the moment. With my history and evidence of problems with dd placenta they are happy to heparinise all the way through.
I don't like that they are making you decide. If they want you off it they need to be making the case for it. If they can't make the case I say keep taking it. Unless you want to stop some medications and are concerned about them, which is obviously completely up to you.

@TaylsN hi there. In terms of symptoms I felt like mine went quiet for days before scans (and still do), it's like your brains and bodies extra little way of messing with your mind I think. The slam as soon as I have a good scan they all come rushing back. Scanxiety is real. Stay strong until Tuesday and I am hoping everything is progressing great for you. What stage were previous mc's at? Is there a gestation that you feel you need to get past?

TaylsN · 14/09/2018 20:36

Hi Ladies,
I sent this through the other day, but not sure if it went through.
Sorry I've been MIA. We were on vacation and prior to that I was laid up with a stomach flu.
Welcome to the newcomers, though sorry for the circumstances that brought you here.
@miami and @anne congrats on your recent good scans! smile
I should be 10 weeks today. Our next appt with the midwife isn't until Sept. 18th and I've convinced myself the baby isn't viable because I had a fever when I had the stomach flu. I spoke with the midwives while I was sick and they had me take fever reducers as soon as I realized I had one. They didn't seem overly concerned, but I'm not really having pregnancy symptoms so I've convinced myself we'll have another mmc. They said I could go for a scan prior to the appointment but I've been holding out to make sure they'd be able to see something. I'm hoping for affirming news on Tues. It seems too much to get attached and hopeful.

beanhunter · 14/09/2018 20:06

Not specific to the ivf. It’s from the rmc clinic. My screens didn’t show a clotting issue but she thought my later mmc (13 is my weeks and baby dating 12 was odd so gave it me for that). I don’t really want to make the choice. I’m on aspirin because of previous pre eclampsia anyway Jon addition to the mc. I don’t know what to do.
I’m ok. Pretty sick and losing some weight but worth it as baby currently still in situ and growing. 9 and a half weeks now.

AnneLovesGilbert · 14/09/2018 17:59

Ditch it when you can miami. I know it’s worth it and as no one knows why this one is sticking I’m just going with it all but doing it up the front and back and hating progesterone anyway it’s no barrel of chuckles. How’ve you been feeling in yourself?

Thigh sounds awful, ouch! Poor you irony

I have b12 stuck in my upper arm and that’s also worth it but it can ache like a bastard so I get the muscle thing.

Same bean, they take a couple of days to show up and I can never tell why it happens or doesn’t. How are you doing this week?

I’m definitely on aspirin and fragmin till 36 weeks so no choice and I suppose it depends on how easily or not it’s fitting into your life. It’s hard when you feel the meds are what’s working and the thought of stopping anything can be a bit nerve wracking. Not helpful if you're being given options but I’d ask what they think and if not stopping at 14 weeks then when, and why.

Is it always recommended after ivf or do you have reason to believe you’ve got a clotting issue?

I’ll let you know if I ever do it laura Smile

Part of me, which always pictured floating through pregnancy bare foot, eating a lot of fruit salads or whatever and wearing flowers in my hair is having a mental episode about filling my system with endless chemicals and having SO much intervention. But we tried that route and the disappointment of losing my babies is greater than the loss of the hippy fantasy Grin

So yay for drugs and scans and doctors, I know we have a lot to be thankful for and I’m trying not to hate the bruises and vegetable oil leaking onto my chubby thighs and the roid insomnia (now behind me!) and trying to go with the fucking flow a day at a time Grin

Miami81 · 14/09/2018 13:55

@AnneLovesGilbert I'm ok to use mine either belly or thigh, but Christ the pain in the thigh is way worse. So belly it is for a while.
I am taking the heparin almost to term I think. Cyclogest maybe only to around 20 wks.
My issue with dd was so obviously placenta development related (large clumps of underdeveloped sections) that I think they want to support the blood supply to the placenta for as long as possible in this pregnancy. I am only on the cyclogest as a belt & braces thing and I think the consultant will be telling me I really don't need it anymore soon.
