Could I be pregnant?

I have a son and a daughter aged 1 and 2. A week ago (midcycle) we had an incident where a condom split but, thankfully, we discovered it before ejaculation. I don't know how long it had been split, but it must have been a few minutes before we discovered it. My period is due on Sunday and for the last week I have felt very, very sick and unable to sleep at night - my mind is all over the place, and I can't shut down. I had these exact same symptoms between conception and when my period was due during my last two (planned) pregnancies. The thought of another one now scares me - I would have a 3, 2 and a 1 year old after a year!!! Talk about close together! How likely is a pregnancy under these circumstances?

I feel really silly! There is absolutely nothing there! And I got my period this morning too! The woman doing the scan said they see 2 or 3 women a week who are convinced they are pregnant, and most of them have small babies, just like me. She said it's because they might have a scare, and get so paniced by it because they wouldn't cope etc that they convince themselves they are pregnant, and they actually start producing symptoms. I thought only woman who desperately wanted a baby had phantom pregnancies, but I was wrong. I do feel very silly, but thank you to everyone who has listened/advised/reassured etc!

Reminds me once when I wasn't trying to get pg, my periods stopped for 4 months and I had a semi-positive test followed by two negative tests. I went to the drs and he felt my tummy and then gave me an internal. He said "There's definitely something in there" and I had a blood test that came back neg. A few weeks later I got my period.
I still wonder what that was all about!
What could possibly have been in there!

How did your scan go Happy1?

BeckiF · 21/09/2004 22:41

Have you got one you can do now? If it's negative now I can't see how you could be pregnant!

happy1 · 21/09/2004 21:16

JUST BUMPING AGAIN

happy1 · 21/09/2004 20:51

Tessiebear · 21/09/2004 20:44

happy1 · 21/09/2004 20:41

ebbie22 · 21/09/2004 20:39

Hi everyone. I have finally got the drs to send me for a scan, which is on friday. I still have all my symptoms, and in my opinion look like i'm showing, and i am also positive i can feel the baby moving. but the dr felt my tummy today and she couldn't feel anything. so now i feel like im going mad! could it be an eptopic pregnancy? and would that show on the scan? or am i just going mad? please help me!

SickAsAPig · 25/08/2004 07:35

Still no AF and I was kept awake a lot of last night with dreadful nausea, I was hot and clammy and had nasty vivid dreams. I am really late now.
Am I looking at 3 under 3??????
I can't be pregnant, can I? I've had a -ve test already and will test again at the weekend when dh home..... where are my white trousers...

I had several positive tests with Clearblue when I was just (4 weeks) pregnant with DS2. I'd had 4 previous miscarraiges so went to the EPU where they did a blood test. It was negative and i was sent away for a week. The next week it was positive. The docotr I saw said that the Clearblue sticks were looking for any presence of preganancy hormone wheras the hospital blood test was looking for a specific, higher level hence it came back negative and the Clearblue was positove. And DS2 is now 3! So you may well be pregnant Happy I think is what I am trying to say!

happy1 · 24/08/2004 11:14

Next week. The doctors round here won't do anything unless they think it's necessary. When I phone for an appointment, I give them a list of doctors I don't want to see!

CP3 · 24/08/2004 10:50

When are you back at the docters, im amazed they havnt done a blood test. You could even have a scan now.

happy1 · 24/08/2004 10:42

It is wierd, and it's also really fustrating as I feel like no one believes me, even DP. He's a 'I'll believe it when I see it ' kind of guy. I feel like I'm going mad, or maybe imagining everything.

CP3 · 24/08/2004 10:39

Looks like ill have 3 under 3 too happy1. Isnt it wierd about your tests?????

happy1 · 24/08/2004 10:37

8 1/2 weeks now. I swear I can feel the top of my uterus now aswell.

SickAsAPig · 24/08/2004 10:35

How late are you, Happy1?

happy1 · 24/08/2004 10:29

I got a faint positive on day period due, then the doctors test showed negative. I have done two of my own plus another one at the family planning clinic and they've all been negative. I still haven't come on, and still got symptoms but the doctor wouldn't give me a blood test so I'm waiting to see another doctor. I too would have 3 under 3 if I was pregnant and kept it, it is a scary thought isn't it? If I am pregnant, which I'm convinced I am, I would be 12-14 weeks now.

SickAsAPig · 24/08/2004 10:16

In both my other pregnancies, I got a positive 3 days before AF was due. I am pretty sure I am not pregnant, although was rather getting used to the idea!!! (crazy woman!)
I am getting period pains on and off so keep expecting her to show. Still nothing though.

Tessiebear · 24/08/2004 09:39

Sickasapig - i have always received negatives until about a week after my period is due - but i have never used a first response test.

libb · 23/08/2004 22:34

worrying about it can play a big part - I remember my driving test years ago put my cycle out by about 2 weeks and I am usually regular as clockwork!

The female body is a crazy thing I think! Look how women alter their cycles to coincide with each other? a substantial part of mumsnet must be due around the same time seeing as we're all so close!
