Pull out method

My Dr said that it's a reliable form of contraception if done properly but I'm not sure I agree.

So I was wondering, has anyone here conceived by using the pull out method properly?

A good friend of mine and her dh use this method, she is about to have her 3rd baby in November none of them planned. She obviously want tracking her fertile days.

Its not more effective than condoms. Condoms are 98% effective.

I was taught at school that if used properly it was 92% effective. So more effective than condoms. But the real life failure rate was very high because most people struggle to do it properly. When you think about it though I dies make sense that if you withdraw without ejaculating you wouldn't concieve. Most people make mistakes though or they don't realise that stray Speen can end up in oreedjavulate if the man has ejaculated recently.

Well yeah it would be effective if done properly 😄 as with all contraception. The point is it is surely difficult to have that much control, and also I’m told sometimes pre-cum (eurgh hate that term!) can sneak out without anyone realising. So.
Having said that, it’s our choice of contraception. As Pp said, I can’t bring myself to recommend it though!

I'd change your GP, if that's an example of some of the advice she gives out I'd be worried about her competence.

Your GP sounds bonkers!
We have used it on and off for years now, even during the fertile period. I have had 2 planned pregnancies and conceived easily. I would never recommend it though!!

Yes, my gp genuinely recommended it. Lol

My husband and I have a 6 month old daughter and at a recent appt, my gp asked what contraception we use (condoms) and she was talking about other contraceptions available and said the pull out method is effective if done properly.

We're not planning on using it as I'm not planning on having another any time soon but I was just curious to know if it does actually work!

Yes, weird a Dr. advocates this. Anyway, used it for twelve years without a problem, but, as others have said, wouldn’t have been a problem for us if it hadn’t worked, soooo......

I agree with this, I used it it didnt work, I got pregnant, I obviously wasnt upset about this as I knew there was a chance it could happen, My relative also used it and got pregnant.
I dont use this method now as I REALLY dont want anymore kids.

I also cant believe a gp recommends it!
