Hi gang
It’s been a while since I was here (banned by DH!) and so much has happened! Congrats to those with BFPs and so sorry to those with CPs or no AF at all Sad - I hope you get some positive news soon.
Also welcome to the newcomers 😊
I’m gearing up to start round 2 of IVF - AF is due the end of this week and that will kick off the 2 month cycle. Trying hard to be positive about it after the last go but certainly won’t be going into it with the same naive hopefulness this time.

Angelbabyollie · 20/08/2018 15:59

It's been 17 weeks since Ollie born and no af, I went to dr who reassured me it's probably stress of Ollie in hospital and passing away as stress can hold back ovulation. He also said if you were having regular periods before you don't just run out of eggs like that and periods don't just stop - they are going to do bloods to check hormones thyroid etc which is being done tomorrow- but today I think af is restarting as have pinky watery mucus not a lot but now it's a bit blood red. Tmi sorry but now am happier as ttc journey can begin providing hormones come back as ok. Sorry ranting but wanted to share as happier about things now- just need a bfp now . Xxxx

Karigan198 · 20/08/2018 15:13

So here we are on week ten of no sign of AF and all BFN. Clearly my system is entirely out of whack right now!

CookieWaffle · 19/08/2018 13:35

Ah @Floofsquidge we have much in common! Apart from the previous man which I'm so glad you've found a good one now! I turned 40 this year too and we just had a couple of chemical pregnancies. Am on month 5 now and gonna give it another month before going back to docs to try something else. Keeping my fingers crossed for you xx

Cleozeta · 19/08/2018 11:55

Thank you everyone for listening to my rants. Weasle, I also think it was yesterday, so I'll go with that!
Chat - tempted to dtd anyway, but at the in laws so a bit awks!! Bloody typical right. Also thinking might just write this cycle off and try properly next cycle as I'll be starting tcm etc then, plus will have my ava bracelet hopefully. Also this month has been tricky with the late ov after the holiday. But also worried I may not have many cycles left. Argh what to do?!

Welcome floof! Sounds like you have family history on your side, thats a great start! (Alas, I do not)

Floofsquidge · 19/08/2018 11:37

@weaseldee, probably one more month, we’re on holiday next week. I’m vvvv impatient (so lots of fun during the 2 week wait), and worried about my age. Partner supportive and tells me I’m being silly, lots of options out there and could be him with a problem for all we know.

weasledee · 19/08/2018 11:28

Hi floof, welcome to the clan!
You sound really positive and your family history is encouraging! We like a good 40+ pregnancy story on here! :)
Have u thought how long you'd give it till you started ivf?

Floofsquidge · 19/08/2018 10:33

New member posting for first time, hope you don’t mind me joining in. An intro: I’ve just turned 40 last month and TTC actively (using natural cycles and ava) for 4 months, a few months longer without. I was married to a man 10 years older who decided he didn’t want children and was verbally abusive about my body and my friends bodies specific to what happens when a woman gets pregnant (not going in to detail but yeah he was charming). Met the love of my life 3 years ago and we have a great life, blissfully happy, except the patter of tiny feet. We both want children. We’ve just had what we think was a chemical pregnancy; faint positive preg test then period came with clumps. So in theory everything works but with my age we have pondered taking the science approach to see if IVF could speed things along, we are probably incredibly naive (private, nhs in my area don’t offer ivf over 35). Partner is 4 years younger. So just an intro to me rather than lurking, and hoping to see some fellow 40+ folks with success. There is a history of older births in my family including sister at 40 (also her first), granny at 42 so I’m hopeful.

Chatbash72 · 19/08/2018 10:06

@Cleozeta this is why i ditched the temps in jan, your body does also need a good nights sleep to function best and if it's interfering with your sleep then it's not going to help.... dtd anyway!! As this thread tells us we really have no control over what our bodies do and a sly swimmer could get to his goal when we are least expecting it....

weasledee · 19/08/2018 10:05

Cleo I think you ovulated yesterday. Was your random high temp at the usual time you record? Don't forget other things affect your temp like an infection, cold etc....?

Cleozeta · 19/08/2018 08:54

I do keep getting the same temp, which is unusual for me as I'm normally a bit all over the place. Do you think it would give me a low temp even if I had ovulated? I am seeing DH tonight but we are at his parents house, not sure we should dtd there!!! Lol
Hoping ov has already happened then no need to worry about it. +opk was 2 days ago, so it should already be done

shinyblackdog · 19/08/2018 08:28

It could give you the same temperature several times in a row I think.

Cleozeta · 19/08/2018 08:13

Interesting point. Would that make temps wrong? I have had it a while now

shinyblackdog · 19/08/2018 07:58

Battery could be on the way out.

Cleozeta · 19/08/2018 07:36

I think you are right, I'll bin it.
Going to write off this cycle as a bad job and just move on. Going to be busy anyway, so will just wait for af in a few weeks. Hopefuly my ava bracelet will turn up beforr next cycle.
Another weird thing is temps have been unusually stable this cycle, almost always waking up around 36.03 or thereabouts. My temps are usually a lot more rocky than that. Could my shit-stick be broken??

CookieWaffle · 19/08/2018 07:13

Oh @Cleozeta yes this sounds that maybe temping isn't for you :( personally I wouldn't use that second temp yesterday and just stick with the first one a day. There could be a chance it was just an off one, which can happen. I hear there's also different types of bbt readers that might work better. Tried to do a quick Google but couldn't find so maybe someone on here knows.

shinyblackdog · 19/08/2018 07:12

Cleo, you definitely need to stop temping! Your sleep pattern isn't regular enough for it to work for you and ttc is stressful enough as it is without adding other factors into the mix. Your ava bracelet will arrive soon, you dtd on the latest day you could, given dh away and then you, just ditch the thermometer (properly, in the dustbin, not somewhere you can fish it out again!). It will make you feel better.

Cleozeta · 19/08/2018 06:32

Oh my god I am so stressed and raging. Managed to squeeze a last temp in today before I go away (why?? Why can't I just leave it alone?!) And it came out low - pre ov Sad gutted. And now I have to go away for a week, not knowing if I've ov'd or not. Yesterday after my 2nd sleep it waz high, so how is it low again?? I could have sworn ov happened yesterday, and +opk was 2 days ago, I usually ov same day as +opk.
Can temps be wrong??
Ffs so annoyed, and now I'm awake early and can't go back to sleep as I'm so stresssd and annoyed, so going to be knackered all day. Why can't I just leave the sodding temping alone?
Sorry to rant, but you ladies are the only people I can talk to about this.
Haven't been able to dtd since Thursday so this is a wasted month. I'm actually going to bin the thermomitor. I hate it.

CookieWaffle · 18/08/2018 22:09

Thanks @shinyblackdog :) 2 CPs down and onto cycle 5. 3rd time lucky maybe? I always did like the number 3.

shinyblackdog · 18/08/2018 21:05

Cookie and Eloisa, so sorry about what you've gone through, it truly sucks. All we can do is pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off, stay strong and carry on. I wish we didn't have to though.

I like temping, I'm good with routine! It was only after six months ttc the very first time, when I was a sprightly 35yo(!) that I started temping and found out I was ovulating at cd21/22, not 14 as I'd naively assumed. Thought there was something wrong with me, couldn't work out why opks never showed a positive.

Welcome to all the new ladies - I need to do a new list.

mondaycando1 · 18/08/2018 17:23

So cd16 here and symptom spotting at just about at everything other than temping reckon I ov'd yesterday so quite pleased we managed dtd on days 8, 10, 13 & this morning. Suspect I will spend the last week of the month pg symptom spotting and then in misery when the kids are back at school but at least we tried.

Cleozeta · 18/08/2018 17:06

Oh I love the crosshairs, thats so satisfying, and I love the confirmation, so I keep doing it, but I just find it stressful, I can't sleep properly and it interferes with my dreams, I find myself waking up early all the time then have to temp then, and then I worry its wrong and do it again after another sleep and then find its so different, and I find myself cheating too and trying to get the temp I want by opening or closing my mouth beforehand, then thinking its wrong because I may have changed the outcome, then I don't know whats real. Then I wonder if I slept with my mouth open or closed and did that change it. Urgh. Anyway, yeah, love the crosshairs.

CookieWaffle · 18/08/2018 16:33

Weirdly I felt quite enlightened temping. I had no idea I ovulated, I just assumed, it confirmed it for me. If i missed it i either did it anyway and put a note saying its late or just leave it til the next day. Granted not everyone's chart is gonna look the same but I find it reassuring seeing the lines!

Over 40 ttc - August baby dust for me!
Cleozeta · 18/08/2018 15:28

Thanks cookie, I hate temping! Can't wait to get my ava bracelet through so I can just go by those stats. I find temping unreliable and stressful. It's so changeable from one minute to the next. The difference in the 3 hours between the 2 temps today was the difference between pre ov & post ov, but if I had not woken up early I'd have automatically assumed ov had happened from later temp, but after seeing early one, not so sure. Anyway, just grateful ov seems to be happening at all! When the ava bracelet arrives I'll be flinging my thermomitor out of the upstairs window.

CookieWaffle · 18/08/2018 14:56

If you ovulated today then Thurs is still in your fertile window. Ovulation will be up to 24-48hrs after your peak was detected.
