Over 40 ttc - August baby dust for me!

@raffleylou and @lumpy76 I’m so sorry for your losses. I too am in a similar position. I have just had my 4th consecutive mc. My last was a mmc and my body still thinks it’s pregnant. I saw a specialist on the nhs last week but now have to wait to do any tests until my hcg levels are normal and I’ve had a period. I’m thinking about paying to see someone privately too. The last few days I’ve felt exhausted. I’m realising what a toll it’s taken on me physically and emotionally so I feel your pain. I just can’t deal with the fact that my body hasn’t caught up with the fact that I’m not pregnant anymore.

Btw, the EPU told me that you can be referred the RMU after 2 recurrent mcs if you are over 40. I guess it might depend on your area but worth asking about...

@Lumpy76 I saw a consultant gynaecologist, I self referred as nhs wouldn't do any investigations after MC in March. It does come at a price but I'm glad I went. If it's just progesterone you want you can perhaps see a private gp which may be half the price.

@Dinah99 thanks for the info! I was thinking about seeing someone privately after this...just to get some advice! I’ll ask the nhs about progesterone and see what they say but now I have the heads up I’ll follow through with the private consult. Did you see a fertility expert or a reg gyny/obs?

I'm so sorry to hear that @Lumpy76, just totally devastating and heartbreaking. I couldn't get progesterone on nhs but I could get it privately, I think it doesn't do any harm to take it, there's a lot of evidence that you can take it in 2ww and then in 12 weeks til placenta takes over, though my gyn said no point in 2ww.

Hey ladies, apologies - it's been a while! Before I properly catch up with the thread (which has an extra 14 pages since I was last here!) I need to share my not-so-happy news .. So following my miscarriage at the beginning of August, I had an eight day bleed mid August and wasn't sure whether this was a period or ongoing miscarriage. Either way, I noticed EWCM at the end of August and figured I was ovulating, cue bedroom antics that day and the next . Seven days later I began feeling nauseous which is EXACTLY what happened with the pregnancy the month before! Sure enough, the same symptoms as that pregnancy soon followed - dry heaving, boobs sore at the sides, weeing ALL the time, extremely wet cm, heartburn, painful trapped gas, bleeding gums and increased sense of smell. It was like going back in time six weeks, I couldn't believe I might be pregnant again - it seemed too good to be true! But the symptoms were so compelling I started taking tests when I thought I was 12 dpo. Over the course of a week, I was getting faint positives on Tesco blue dye tests but negatives on a variety of pink dye tests. This really burst my bubble, especially when I read that blue dye tests are notorious for false positives and pink dye tests are much more accurate. Part of me wondered whether the symptoms were all in my head because I wanted it so much! But the other part of me put the pink dye negatives down to the fact I was maybe testing too early, I didn't know for sure when I'd ovulated after all. I was in such a confused state, and didn't feel I could accept I was pregnant until I got a positive pink dye test. So I bought a Superdrug pink dye test on Friday and used it on Saturday, annoyingly the urine didn't move through the window so I assumed it was a duff and binned it. About an hour later I began bleeding very heavily, I was gutted but figured it was my period and that I hadn't been pregnant after all. Later that night I spotted the Superdrug test in the bin and something made me dig it out .. I wish I hadn't, two pink lines. What a kick in the teeth to finally get confirmation I was pregnant a few hours after starting to lose the baby . Heartbroken that this is happening to me again, it's like a horrible recurring nightmare. After the devastation of the last miscarriage, it was wonderful to feel hope and excitement again when I started to experience pregnancy symptoms but here I am back at square one - talk about emotional rollercoaster. I'm making sure I get serial HCG tests this week so the miscarriage is on record because I understand that if you have three recorded losses in a row, you're entitled to free specialist referral? The only positive I can cling to is I conceived straight away on both occasions so I'm still fertile .. I can make them but I can't keep them ><

Interesting as I had a mmc when I breastfeeding DS1. Then fell preg again with DS2 and milk promptly dried up by 2nd tri.

Thanks for the kind words! I am hoping they will test the baby for chromosomal abnormalities. As far as I know progesterone is important in maintaining the pregnancy and can be low if you are breastfeeding (as I still am). However, I had a successful pregnancy after my last mmc and fed through that pregnancy and have fed through previous pregnancies with no problem in the past. I am just hoping we can get lucky one more time and have a successful pregnancy after this one.

Sorry to hear this Lumpy. Wishing you a swift recovery from the mmc and treatment. I dont know much about progesterone Im afraid. Will they do any tests to work out the cause of the mmc?

Hello again! Briefly came on here after I got bfp in August. Unfortunately (after I chose to get a private scan) I’ve had a mmc again and go in for the second part of medical management tomorrow evening. Dreading it tbh. Waited for a natural last time but haemorrhaged - very scary. Praying tomorrow will be different! We are hoping to try again and I’m going to ask about taking progesterone if I conceive again. 43rd birthday is looming in January but I fell pregnant quite easily so hoping that we can do it again!

So I just got BFN on a clear blue. 13 DPO but only CD 23 as My OPK suggested I was going to ovulate on CD 10 or 11. I am utterly baffled!!!! I feel totally pregnant. Intense hunger pangs which are temporarily relieved post eating only to re-emerge a short while later. That feeling like you have a vacuum in your abdomen that you only get when you are pregnant. Intense sense of smell too. Sicky feeling in afternoons and evenings.
Light AF cramps yesterday but nothing today.

I can only assume this is a post Mirena issue and I must be PMS or something. But I don’t even feel bloated. I also don’t feel tired which doesn’t fit with pregnancy but I put that down to CO enzyme 10...
Any ideas????

Big hugs to all. I've been a tad busy at work and with home stuff so disappeared for a bit. AF has finally arrived today, 10 days late! Am sure that taking a break from the oestrogen tablets helped. Going back on them in a few days to get and get the lining to grow will hopefully try again next month.

Does anyone have a referral code for the ava bracelet? I'd like to get one xx

After a positive first response pregnancy test earlier this week I waited until period was well past its due date and took 3 tests this morning including a clear blue digital blue one with weeks indicator so we can see the words. All 3 BFP. Exciting and terrifying. So hope our tiny bean survives, still can’t quite believe it. Looking back at my temp chart compared with previous 2 months and very different from my chemical. The temp is consistently high after ovulation.

@Dinah99 my cm is still quite reliable on ov time, and I'm one of the " older" ladies... but we are all diff... I sometimes get loads on last days of af, so tend to try to regularly dtd during the cycle as not to miss an early egg.. ( which can happen too as you mature) x
