Anybody else thinking about IVF

I have just been refered for IVF we have choosen a hospital in woking I am already being seen by a consultant who works here.
Just wondering if any body else is embarking on IVF thought we could all help each other get through it.

I'm in London, so there are a few. I'm thinking of either the Bridge, ACU at University College Hospital, or the ARGC. And probably in August or September - I guess I should wait until my hormones sort themselves out after my latest m/c (March) but don't want to shilly shally.

Hello Herbaceous its all very confusing isnt it. Do you have a clinic near by? when are you thinking of starting ivf?

I'm thinking about IVF too. I have no difficulty in conceiving - despite being ancient - but have had four miscarriages in a row. The last two both had chromosonal problems - trisomies - so I'm thinking that IVF with PGS, where they test the chromosones before putting the non-buggered embryos back, could be the answer.

Of course, it's enormously confusing, having to choose a clinic, deciding on timing, etc, not made easier by having to pay a £150 consultation fee just to go and have a chat! Money-grabbing **s.

I think the wessex is good my consultant told me to go there if I wanted to stay local. He told me not to go to Sailsbury as it does not have good success rates but that the Wessex was good. They are having an open evening next week which we will probabley go to to see if we can get any info. But probabley go to Woking as i would rather still with the same consultant.

Hi

Wanted to wish you all the best with the IVF. I went through it last year and now have a ds aged 5 months.

I had acupunture during my treatment and found it to be hugely beneficial. Of course, we'll never know if it actually made any difference to the outcome but I am most definitely not a relaxed person (more's the pity!) but found I was a lot calmer after the acupuncture sessions.

Thanks for the insite toy town mum hopefully we will be lucky first time to. I have started reflexology to help with the relaxation and its wonderful would reccomend it to anyone.
Firsttimemum i also live in Southampton, only going to woking as the consultant who has been treating me at the Princess Anne hospital has a private clinic in woking and they have quite good success rates. Its a small world isnt it. Are you going to the Wessex clinic in Anglesea Rd in Shirly? I dont live that far from there.

Hi... Just wanted to wish you luck. The only advice I can offer when going through the IVF process is to relax (easier said than done I know)
My DS1 was born as at result of IVF at 29 weeks, he is now a very happy and healthy 3 yr old. He was born on our 1st attempt of IVF after 7 years of TTC, his brother naturally appeared 14 months later!!!!!!

most of the tests are virological ie hepatitis, hiv etc, there's also std tests and chlamydia. also day 2-5 fsh to calculate the amount of drugs that need to be taken. we had gone for a preliminary check up last nov with the intention of starting treatment in feb but i got pregnant in dec. we decided to go for it this time as i don't want to leave it too long. unfortunately my body is not back to normal yet. so frustrating! by the way, i'm in southampton...not that far from woking

We also have to go private as I already have a dd who is 4 so no help from the nhs. We had no problem concieving her 3month ttc and no problems. But in the last 2 1/2 years I have had 2 eptopic pregnancies and only have one tube. My last ep was in feb as well body seems to be getting back to normal but not coping so well emotionally. Hopefully i will get an appointment in the next couple of weeks. What blood tests have you had to have done? I am also terrified its such a huge thing and costs so much let just hope we both get lucky first time around.

hi cedar, i am going for ivf but doing it privately as over the age limit for nhs. we've seen the consultant and will probably start in a couple of months, hopefully. just had a m/c in feb so had to wait for my body to go back to normal which it doesn't seem to be doing. in the meantime we are getting all the bloodwork done. would be great to share our experiences as i'm terrified about the whole thing.
