Anybody else thinking about IVF

I have just been refered for IVF we have choosen a hospital in woking I am already being seen by a consultant who works here.
Just wondering if any body else is embarking on IVF thought we could all help each other get through it.

Just wanted to say that I havent forgotten you and to wish you all luck with your treatment!

Mrs Fossil i had iui (just the once as the chance for ivf came up at another clinic whilst i was waiting for iui 2), but it didnt work whereas the ivf worked first time. But they don't know why I wasnt conceiving naturally, so maybe iui just wasnt the answer for me. Its a lot less intrusive than ivf and doesnt seem such a big deal,(and is much cheaper!) but I believe the chances of success are smaller.

IF you are still quite young, its probably worth doing. I'm 40 so decided that I would do ivf as soon as i could.

Hi cedar, Sorry to hear about your eps. I have a 5yr old and have been ttc for 3 years. I have a slight bloc in 1 tube but other is ok. my doc says we shouldn't have a problem conceiving but has suggested IVF or IUI. Did you consider IUI. We won't get any help from NHS ia our area. I'm glad to hear you got your appointments, best wishes

Hello hope everyone ok, does any one have any news.
Went for ar appointment today in woking and we have decieded to go for it so will be starting ivf in July all a bit scary. Clinic has good success rates 50% chance it working. The dr only wants to put back one embryo as I am quite young and have had no problems concieving in the past, as my problem is tubal. Not sure yet whether to go for 1 or2 he think i ve got a good chance with one. And less chance of misscarriage etc if it wasnt twins. As I would have quite a high chance of twins.

I spoke to my gp last friday quite happy to write out blood forms so I can get them done.The receptionist phoned me to tell me the forms were ready to pick up but before this phoned my mil. Receptionist obviously cant read to tell the difference between Laura and Linda.
We have been ttc for 2 1/2 years so obviously know about folic acid and good diet etc.

sorry to hear about your gp. why are they phoning you anyway? don't you get the forms on the day itself? i've heard from a few people that some gp surgeries refused to do bloodwork for ivf. i guess they figure that since we are willing to pay thousands, then a few hundred quid more shouldn't matter to us . luckily my gp is fine with it and was quite helpful. what was that about the greens .

I am fuming at the moment, My dr surgery managed to phone me and my mil to say my blood forms were ready. We both are at the same surgery and have the same initials. We hadn't told her about the ivf as shes not been very sympathetic in the past. So dh got a phone call tonight asking why I was having blood tests. Bloody cheek
He fobbed her of and said he was having his tea, She figured out it was something to do with ttc and asked him if I had thought about eat more greens! She probably think shes trying to help but she just pisses me off. Just needed to rant.

i saw mr brook as well. only the once as before follow up app i got pg. went to wessex because mr brook says we have to pay for our ivf anyway. i didn't really get on with mr brook as he saw us for 5min and pack us home with 'have more sex'. must admit i was in tears after that. we were bd'ing every other night at that time. can't really have more sex we don't think. anyway, think it's a good idea to stick with someone you have build up a trust with.

Open evening evening is tonight, forgot about it until you mentioned it thanks. I think I will stick to Woking though my consultant has been good so would rather stick with him. Who did you see at the princess anne hospital? I have been seeing Mr Brook.

hi cedar. my dh just got his blood tests done 2 weeks ago but he can't get time off work to go and get the results. i have had my day 2-5 fsh done last nov but the clinic needs it be less than 6mth old. i am still on my 2nd cycle, 8dpo so will get the test done early next week. the clinic says 1mth to sort out all the bloodwork and the next mth should be able to start the treatment. where have you decided to go for treatment? did you go to the open day at wessex? what do you think?

Hello everyone, Managed to get a list of blood tests we need to have done. Gp is going to do the blood forms so at least that will save a bit. I cant believe what the clinic charges for blood tests. So hopefully gets the bloods done today. Dh cant take any time of work for blood tests so will have to go to the walk in centre for 7am.
Hope you are all doing ok. Myfirst baby have you had your last blood test done yet? I have missed day 1-4 this month so will have to wait until next month for it. So it will probably be at the end of June do you think will hold it up much? or will we be able to start as soon as its done.

my1stbaby if your cycle is very long it might be worth letting your clinic know. I say this because I have a long cycle and because of this they started my treatment as soon as I came in to the clinic on day 2 of AF rather than waiting a couple of weeks as they normally do. (not really sure what the reasoning was behind this though).

But all clinics have different protocols.

Please don't worry about the injections though, they're really not that bad and hardly hurt - honest!

hmm...maybe we can inject each other ha ha ! can't really remember the success rates for wessex from top of my head. i think you can check it out on their website. got my initial consultation within a couple of weeks of phoning them. i'm not sure if there's a waiting list for treatment though.

Not looking forward to the injections either, I am a nurse so dont mind giving them to other people but dont like the idea of doing it to myself Tried to phone the wessex earlier to ask about there success rates but no answer. Do you know? If they arent much different thought maybe trying there. Not sure though did you have to wait long for a appointment.

according to the info sheet that i got from wessex, i have to call them on 1st day AF and arrange an app. on cd19. it seems to suggest that is the date treatment is started and it'll take 6wks from that point to egg harvest. i'm not sure how well i'll cope with injecting myself with the drugs. my dad was diabetic and it used to freak me out whenever i see him pricking his fingers for the blood sugar tests. i am worried that this injection would stress me out too much and i won't respond too well to the treatment.
it's good that gp is willing to do the bloods otherwise you'll have to do it via the clinic and it costs about £170 for both of you. it's such a rip off.
i'm hoping that my AF will arrive mid june. my cycle has been pretty messed up post m/c. this is the longest cycle that i've ever had in my life. one consolation is that i did ovulate as i was paranoid might be peri-menopausal already. i'm trying to stay positive and hope for the best but i do hate the 2ww .

My af isnt due until 23rd June will that be enough time to get bloods done if we want to start in July. Sorry dont know whats happens when when in your cycle does it all have to start. My Gp is going to do bloods for me.

good that you have a date cedar. i am aiming to start round the same time as you, we can keep each other company then . i am still waiting for AF to arrive before i can go and get blood tests done. good luck with your gp; mine was very good and was happy to let me do the virology on the nhs.

Managed to get ivf appointment for June 13th. So hopefully have the ivf in July or Aug. Its a bit scary now its all happening.
I have got an appointment with my Gp this afternoon to see if she will do any of the blood tests.

Think I would probabley stop reflexology before Ivf. Good luck for next time Latenightowl. Had you being ttc for long before you tried Ivf?
Herbacous at least you have got lots of choice in London, a friend of a friend went to ARGC and has know got a 4 year old ds and twin 1 year old.

I had IVF in March but was unsuccessful and hoping to go through it again in July if bloods are fine.
I would advise you to check with your consultant re. what he thinks about reflexology. Mine was quite anti as he said it causes the uterus o contract and can cause probs but was most complimentary re. Accupuncture. Needless to say, Im currently looking for a good practioner at the moment!
Wishing you all the best, it's tough but worth the try.
