implantation bleeds and stuff

You do know me, it's just that I don't feel ready to talk about any pg issues openly yet - this soon after my mc I feel uncharacteristically reticent!

Since my last period we suddenly got broody, after having said we'd wait some time. So we did the tests, worked out my dates and did the deed last Saturday.

Now, I am not sure exactly when my last period started, but I would expect my next one to be 14 days after ovulation - surely whatever the length of your cycle, it is always 14 days after ovulation? So a bit of bleeding (stringy brown bits) yesterday - is that an implantation bleed? Is an implantation bleed usually accompanied by lower back period type pains? Or is all this in my head?

nutty, I'm not sure how well you would know me - I'm not as much a MN celebrity as you ... I don't want to build you up with excitement, only for you to say "who?". I have been a lurker on your new house threads for years and years (well, it must feel like that long to you!). I've been around, though!

How do you know who tltw is?

Hope it's you guys Ssshhh and TLTW, i really do.

I'm intrigued as to who you are Ssshhh. Don't worry if i figure it out I will not tell a soul, after all i kept my identity hidden for oooh all of 5 seconds .

Weird thing is that i was convinced that i ovulated about 5 days ago but today i have been getting ovulation pains.

twolongtwoweeks · 18/08/2004 13:47

Bleeding has stopped, not that i can call it blood really. As you say shhhhh would never have noticed if not so paranoid about it. Was also up last night 3 times to go to loo. Am also testing on 28th with Nutty!! Well one of us must be posotive

ssshhh · 18/08/2004 13:16

nutty, may I just remind you that you are not allowed to test until the 28th. I shall come round to your lovely new house and hide away any test kits you have!

Getting up for a wee in the night? Not sure about that, never happened to me, but I don't know whether it is actually a symptom or not. With both of my pgs I had symptoms before I tested: madness mainly (crashing the car, bursting into tears). But onyl a couple of days before - isn't it a bit early yet?

nutcracker · 18/08/2004 11:12

I do know who TLTW is but am not telling

Anyway I have a question, how early could you have symptoms ??? Only asking cos for the past two nights i have had to get up ijn the night for a wee, something that i never ever do.

ssshhh · 18/08/2004 07:11

oh no, I don't have a clue who anyone else is! I'm not that clever! (although if you ever reveal yourself, I shall say that I knew all along).

TLTW - that sounds exactly like the bleeding I'm having. Maybe we bleed like this all the time and it's only when we're frantically looking that we notice it!

TLTW: Implantation is said to occur anytime from a week following the thermal shift...Are you sure about the day you ov'd? I am hoping that you are pg!

Scaredstupid · 17/08/2004 21:50

Ssshhh, you scared me by saying that you were excited: I thought that you knew who I was too!! My details are really too specific so I shan't go into them for now but I am petrified that I might be pregnant as it would be an oops...
I have never taken an ov. test as I am one of those really annoying 'Fertile Myrtles' who just thinks about a baby and then finds that she is expecting one.

twolongtwoweeks · 17/08/2004 21:00

When does implantation actually happen? I am spotting this eve but af not due till a week sat, si if had concieved it would only have been in the last 5 days. Surely then its too early for implantaion as i was under the impression that that took 7 days. iyswim. Ive had no spotting with previous pregnancys.

I hant a clue who sshhh is, but good luck anyway and you scared stupid.

popsycal · 17/08/2004 19:32

sssshhh i think i know who you are too....
I had my spotting before my period was due and it stopped the day it was due....i tested 2 days before i was due
test test test

ssshhh · 17/08/2004 18:41

Ooohhh scaredstupid, I'm excited. Firstly I'm excited cos you're tring to get pg, which is exciting (well, it would be if it wasn't for all the anxiety) but more importantly I am excited cos you think you know who I am. I am rubbish at secrets. If you guessed who I was I would immediately admit to it!

I have had bleeding (spotting) around the time of ovulation in the past - a sort of mid-period bleed. Can't remember when, whether it was before or after my mc, though. Have you taken an ov test?

I had that spotting on Friday, and then another bit yesterday. Otherwise nothing. But I am asuming that my period is due 14 days after I ovulated - so that should be Saturday.

I am using an alias as well. Not too sure how to do it properly so maybe it won't even work! Think I know who ssshhh is but only because I am also a lurker... I sure hope that it is indeed an implantation bleed; that would be so great for you. I have just experienced something similar and the timing in my case is all off. I am on day 15 of my first cycle post m/c. Is it possible to have this happen at ov?

MummyToSteven · 15/08/2004 20:00

ah I see - and sympathise - my usual cycle could be anything from 4 - 6 weeks, with the very very occasional 8 weeker thrown in! where are all these textbook women with clockwork 28 days cycles

ssshhh · 15/08/2004 19:58

see my post of 4:15 this afternoon (basically I don't have a clue)

MummyToSteven · 15/08/2004 19:55

ssshhh - any idea roughly when next AF is due?

ssshhh · 15/08/2004 19:51

Thanks MTS. I had bleeding at 4, 6, 8, 9, and 12 weeks with my first pg and at 4 weeks with my second (which only lasted 9 weeks anyway). You're right - the only answer is to wait. I will try to hang out as long as possible!

glad to be of assistance nutty!!!
I think i win the shortes time for being incognito haha

nutcracker · 15/08/2004 19:48

Ahh thanks Popsy I feel alot better now

MummyToSteven · 15/08/2004 19:47

I think that it is less usual for an implantation bleed to be accompanied by pains, tho not impossible (I had a bleed at about 5 weeks pg, which was either an implantation bleed or threatened m/c, noone ever figured out which - it was like a 3 day light period, with cramps). I think that an implantation bleed tends to be more like spotting tho than like mucus. I don't think there is any way you can test till a few days before AF - and would only use First Response if testing that early (don't think any other tests are accurate before AF is due)

CP3 · 15/08/2004 19:42

pmsl

popsycal · 15/08/2004 19:39

hahaa - here it is nutty - dont feel so bad!!!

ssshhh · 15/08/2004 19:38

Mind you, with both of my previous pg it wasn't a lack of periods that made be suspect I was pg, it was doing totally mad and scatty things. So maybe nutty really is pg!

OP posts:
ssshhh · 15/08/2004 19:36

[stage whispers >tltw, I was trying not to make nutty feel so awful about blowing her own cover in less than two minutes
