Who’s trying SMEP this month?

Support thread for those giving smep a go this month! I’m CD6 so going to start soon. All fingers crossed that this works for us all this month.
Debating whether to buy CB OPK or just stick with IC - might do IC until around FW and then see if I can find a few old CB lying around to confirm a positive.
Anyone else giving this a go?

Hello lovelies, Just been catching up on all the news.

Hi to all the newbies! Hope everyone is doing well with SMEP or tww.

@holdontohope hige congratulations to you! Absolutely wonderful news!

@angelmiracle your super egg made my laugh - hope it's fertilised and just hanging about now waiting to be a sticky bean!

@themagictorch I've been havign a drink a day because a) I'm on holiday and b) fairly sure I'm not pregnant. I'm thinking 'drink till it's pink' is my new slogan tbh Grin

@muddytoes1 your reverse psychology tactic is brilliant! FX for you.

As for me, AF due in two days and still stark white BFN on frer. Also I am PMSing like a mofo so now just sitting back and waiting for AF. It's our first cycle so I'm not sad really but I am a bit embarrassed about all my 'symptoms' Blush they felt so REAL though!! Anyway they've all died down now so I guess it was just progesterone and I'm not used to monitoring my body so closely. Lessons learned Grin

Will keep up to date on here though and wishing for quick TWW with minimal insanity for you all and loads of BFPs!! Flowers xxx

NoseringGirl · 10/07/2018 11:02

You've definitely given yourself a decent chance @TheMagicTorch! Everything crossed for you!

TheMagicTorch · 10/07/2018 10:58

@NoseringGirl Ahh yeah that makes sense! Maybe if I was using IC OPKs but I was happy using the Clear Blue digital that the 3 days (which ended up being 4 anyway) should have caught it! I really hope we get our BFP this month 😣

NoseringGirl · 10/07/2018 10:22

I think the logic for the last day is to cover things if the OPKs are wrong. I reckon the 3 days after the positive OPK are the most important though!

TheMagicTorch · 10/07/2018 10:08

@becca444 yeah same here, I'm not sure where the logic is for that last day.
Lol! Or you can cheer him up if they don't win 🤭

Becca444 · 10/07/2018 10:02

@TheMagicTorch yeah I got my static smiley on Saturday so doesn’t seem likely that BD on Wednesday will make a difference. Maybe if England win the football DH will be in the mood though.... (never thought he would be the one getting fed up!)

TheMagicTorch · 10/07/2018 09:19

@Becca444 I didn't think it would make a difference, we stuck to it exactly apart from that last go. It was like 5 days after my static smiley on Clear blue so I didn't think it would be that important. I may be wrong there, but we were a bit tired after all the BD before that 🤭

TheMagicTorch · 10/07/2018 09:11

@Firsttimer16 Yeah I thought that too, if I don't know for sure it's happening I can't present that to a doctor if it gets to that point.
He says it's up to me.. going to try and hold off and order FRERs to come on Friday when I'll be 12dpo.

Becca444 · 10/07/2018 08:39

Me too @Firsttimer16 Smile at least we can get through the 2WW together!

Firsttimer16 · 10/07/2018 08:27

@Becca444 I'm on exactly the same day as you. V thankful of a night off tonight!

We didn't manage to skip the day, I did plan to but well... we're just bad at SMEP Blush

Becca444 · 10/07/2018 07:27

2 dpo today so into the 2WW. Stuck to SMEP exactly although I don’t know if we will BD tomorrow after missing today - think we are both exhausted! Anyone think it will make a difference...?!

Angelmiracle · 10/07/2018 00:46

@Muddytoes1 yes boys are funny glad it worked!!

Smep complete skipped a day Sunday and last one done Monday night!

Plan followed well except for 2day gap last weekend when dh was sick but opks were light so shouldn't be worried about that.

🤞🤞🤞

Muddytoes1 · 09/07/2018 23:02

@AngelMiracle sorry just saw your post, I will keep that one in reserve!

Muddytoes1 · 09/07/2018 23:01

@TheMagicTorch that does make sense I guess it’s whatever gives you the most peace of mind.

So I did it! I went with the reverse psychology tactics. Put on my ugliest pyjamas, acted all disinterested, sat and watched tv and made mugs of tea. Grin boys are funny. Really hoping that even though it’s just the one time I may now have a shot as think I’m ovulating now.

Angelmiracle · 09/07/2018 22:28

Btw meant to say @Muddytoes1 - stick on a pair of high heels you know the pair that are too high to actually wear anywhere?? Works a treat 😜

Firsttimer16 · 09/07/2018 22:19

@TheMagicTorch I agree with you - after having a Cp I'd rather know for sure if I have another one - so then if it keeps happening at least I have all the facts for the doctor. I'm also prone to a drink or two on the weekends so I find it hard (and depressing) abstaining for half of every month "just incase" but then feel guilty if I drink just before AF when I know I could be pregnant, and I know it would show on a test. Isn't the saying "drink til it's pink"?! Last month on holiday I was doing 2 IC tests a day...one with fmu and one before dinner so I could have a glass of wine guilt free! And I'm so glad I did as bfp never came so at least I don't feel like my holiday was compromised too.
Basically whatever makes you feel the least stressed is absolutely key - whatever way that may be!

I always test early. 3DPO today so I will try to hold on until this time next week if I can.

Angelmiracle · 09/07/2018 21:29

@NoseringGirl I agree that Id rather have a certain BFN so I'm not holding on hoping than AF just appearing!

NoseringGirl · 09/07/2018 21:26

@TheMagicTorch I think it really comes down to personal preference. I always test as I'd prefer to see a BFN than be surprised by AF. It came a day earlier than expected a few months back and even though we weren't properly trying, it still caught me off guard and I felt quite weird about it. Some people get really upset by BFNs so always wait until they're sure they're late. I think it's always difficult though, especially as you've had a recent loss. Do whatever makes you least stressed even if you can't feel completely relaxed about it.

TheMagicTorch · 09/07/2018 20:31

I totally understand @bas27
I've been chatting to DP about it tonight, and I think I've changed my mind about not testing early 🙄
I think if I don't test early, and I start AF/bleeding then I'm going to question whether it's AF or another chemical. Whereas if I know either way I can handle it appropriately. Yes I'll be upset either way but I won't constantly be wondering which it is. And as you say at least we found out it can happen for us. I honestly don't know what to do 🤷‍♀️

NoseringGirl · 09/07/2018 20:28

@dee7409 I don't think it's quite there yet! I don't always get fully positive ones though. I think I drink too much water. They do my head in too!

Fae1989 · 09/07/2018 20:12

@Firstimer16 thank you lovely! Definitely going to sit on my hands now!

You guys are awesome :) x

dee7409 · 09/07/2018 20:01

Firsttimer16 · 09/07/2018 19:45

Also @Fae1989 remember if you had positive OPK 9 days ago you may not have ovulated until 24-48 hours after - so you may be earlier than you think even if testing tomorrow. So stay positive whatever the reault
