A thread for all those who have suffered the loss of a much wanted baby. Affectionately know as the penguin huddle.

We'll start with a roll call as there have been so many new members lately and so many success stories that I think we've all lost track.

Morning, lots to catch up on! Hope you're all well today.

@misbit if you do try cough syrup it has to be one for clearing mucus that contains guaifenesin. I've got a Boots own one. The theory is that it loosens up cm - just make sure it has that ingredient otherwise it can dry it up instead which you don't want!

@boboelephant - going to google some orange food! Hadn't heard that one! I have been reading a book called fertile by Emma Cannon that has lots of advice about food to eat at diff stages in your cycle which is interesting - going to give a few recipes a go!

Re. Grapefruit juice & EPO - from what I understand you have both of these leading up to ovulation and then stop until af or bfp.

This thread moves quickly!

@Laney79 I had what I assume was implantation spotting 13DPO last time, and got a faint positive 16DPO (although it might have been faint because I did the test at night because I was too impatient to wait until morning). I can't remember how long ago you had your MC, though — I had bleeding and spotting all over the place for quite a while afterwards, and in fact this cycle I had spotting on CD26, nothing on CD27, and spotting again on CD28 before AF started the next day. In summary our bodies are totally bonkers and it sucks.

@MisBit1 Agreed re: people asking when you're going to have kids. I have three half-sisters (all older than me) who've popped out babies without any difficulty and every time I see them they enquire when I'm going to have one. :( The best/worst was when a friend of a friend asked when we were planning on firing the vagina cannon. I still don't know whether to be amused or disgusted.

Jessabean · 25/06/2018 00:14

@Boboelephant & @TinyPaws thank you. I'm feeling surprisingly ok about it now. Few weeks ago I would have been rushing off to the loo for a little cry! As you say I think it's just that not having been there or know someone close whose been there they just assume everyone's experiences are the same & they don't think. Annoying thing was that I've usually started just telling people about the mcs when stuff like this happens as I'd rather educate them/make them think twice in the future but because it was in with a patient it would have been a bit unprofessional and seemed to be making a big thing of it to bring it up afterwards when everything had moved on! 🤷‍♀️

@DaisyMay25 not sure about when exactly- article didn't say but I'd guess during the fertile week- maybe couple of days either side to be sure?

MisBit1 · 24/06/2018 22:42

@laney79 I love a kitchen gadget I’m off to look on amazon now.

DaisyMay25 · 24/06/2018 22:34

@Boboelephant I do SMEP every month, it makes the most sense to me.

Gonna pick up some grapefruit juice and raspberry leaf tea tomorrow see if they help this month. Need to order more conceive plus too. Anyone got anymore tips?

Laney79 · 24/06/2018 22:29

@Boboelephant so lovely about the balloon xxx

Boboelephant · 24/06/2018 22:29

@MisBit1 cross post again but thanks again! Its a tough couple of weeks with that due date and then my next due date in 2 weeks and still not pregnant so I need the signs at the moment! I like to think so too.

Laney79 · 24/06/2018 22:27

Ooh @MisBit1 get a pineapple slicing gadget. It's ace! I'm buying more pineapple tomorrow just to have another go! (Yes, I'm easily pleased when it comes to kitchen gadgets!)

Boboelephant · 24/06/2018 22:25

@MisBit1 thankyou. I know what you mean! I do think the majority of people just don't think. Before my ectopic and after my easy pregnancy with DS I have to admit I thought it was so easy. Now I cringe to think of things I might have said to others. It's so hard though! Woohoo for your positive opk. Even without tonight tomorrow should be perfect timing.
@Lilimum4 I think when ttc it's a good thing. Afterwards probably not! I'm jealous though because this wait from end of af to start of fw just drags for me!!

MisBit1 · 24/06/2018 22:20

Cross post @boboelephant that experience sounds lovely. I think sometimes people and things are put in just the right place to send us signs. I know that sounds a bit woo and that’s not normally me but I think are loved ones let us know they’re ok.

TinyPaws · 24/06/2018 22:19

Gosh, I'm losing track of this thread already!

@Jessabean Shock I am shocked at your colleague's behaviour, totally unfair to put you in that position, she should have known better.

@Laney79 It is so frustrating when your body does not do what you want it to! Throughout this whole pregnancy/miscarriage/post miscarriage experience my body has gone utterly bananas so I totally get where you're coming from!

@Anyday88 I could never get bloody OPKs to work, gave up in the end! Sounds like you're definitely in with a chance this month if you DTD on day 13 and anticipate a 26-29 day cycle!

@Boboelephant Glad you feel you're healing.

Boboelephant · 24/06/2018 22:17

@zarala and @DaisyMay25 thankyou. I was so glad my little man was there too. ❤
@DaisyMay25 haha no! Not trying to beat 12. Going to do SMEP this month instead. Fingers crossed!!

Lilimum4 · 24/06/2018 22:16

@Boboelephant what a lovely thing to happen. As for this early opk thing its only been since my last mc. Before this I had 36 day cycles. Mine seem to be 25 to 26 now not sure if that's good or bad

MisBit1 · 24/06/2018 22:13

This thread moves so quickly, I’ve been lurking but not had much chance to post.

@boboelephant sorry you had to deal with that idiocy. I’ve had similar experiences in the past including one where a woman turned quite nasty once corrected. In a similar vein I wish people didn’t feel it was so acceptable to ask questions like ‘Are you planning on having kids?’ Or ‘Are you going to have another?’ As if it were a simple case of making the decision to do so. You’d never just ask someone if they were planning on having unprotected sex but it’s essentially the same thing isn’t it?!

@RedRobin7 congratulations on your bfp, tell your friend when you feel ready. I’m sure she’ll understand. Maybe let her know in advance of your meeting if you think it will be easier on her to process.

@sweetpea0318 @Jessabean I’ve never heard of the grapefruit thing but might give it ago. I hadn’t heard about the cough syrup thing either but I was chugging it just before DS1 was conceived and possibly just after as I had a terrible cough that month so maybe there is something to it.

@zarala @laney79 fingers crossed for you all you’re not out until AF shows.

@lilimum4 I got a positive on ic opk today too! (CD17, I think I usually ovulate around CD18 so not unusual for me.) Want to jks but promised DH we’d stick to every other day this month and he complained he was tired earlier when I suggested an extra session today. We dtd at about 10.30 last night and I’ll try my luck in the morning. Hopefully it will be enough. I have a pineapple ready and waiting, never cut one up before though, hope I don’t lose any fingers!

Just a quick question about evening primrose oil do you stop it once you ovulate?

DaisyMay25 · 24/06/2018 22:04

@Boboelephant how lovely! It couldn't been more fitting really. You going to try and outdo last months marathon this cycle?

zarala · 24/06/2018 21:55

Aww @Boboelephant I love that story!
Really touching! 💕

DaisyMay25 · 24/06/2018 21:49

@Jessabean does it say when to start drinking the grapefruit juice?

Boboelephant · 24/06/2018 21:45

@Lilimum4 definitely time for JKS! I'm so envious that you are getting those on cd10! We won't be cycle twins for long. I'm cd9 and won't be getting a positive for about 8 days!
@Jessabean sorry you had to go through that. She sounds awful. I'm glad that you are feeling a bit more positive though.

I had a nice moment today. Friday was one year past my first due date so I have been thinking alot about how my angel should be turning one. Today as I was walking a long hand in hand with my DS I saw a balloon flying up in the sky. I focused on it and said a little goodbye message to my angel. Then just as it was almost gone, a little girl saw that it had flown off and said this to her nan. Her nan replied just as I was walking past that 'she has gone to heaven.' It really touched me and I felt like a bit of my heart healed a bit.

@zarala you have a 30 min window. I usually wake up within 20 min time frame I find! Yes I had that last month too and got very excited. Whilst it can be an implantation dip it can also just be the estogen and progesterone fighting for dominance. Defo keep charting. It will help you start to see patterns. Also as FF gets used to your cycles it will be able to predict things better.
@Laney79 I'll keep fingers crossed for you. I'd be testing tomorrow of no AF. Should see a bfp 48 hours after IB. Re: pineapple core HidCat is right. I cut off a thick slice off one pineapple for the 5 days and that is the right portion. I did freeze mine awhile back when I bought a giant one but found it got a bit squishy. Didn't have that nice crispness but is still edible.

HidCat · 24/06/2018 21:00

@Laney79 I read that you eat 1/5 of the pineapple core each day after ovulation.

@Anyday88 it's always frustrating when our bodies don't seem to be playing ball at the right times. I think I'm 4dpo but may be a couple of days less judging by my temperature shift. Might just split the difference and call it 3 lol.

Hi all,

I am really struggling to keep up as this thread moves so fast and I never seem to have enough time to read back through everything.

Where is everyone in their cycles now?

I am feeling totally disheartened by the whole thing at the minute. I have had clockwork 28 day cycles until the miscarriage then it went to 29 and then last month was 26 so not sure what this month will be. I started OPKs on cd10 and was negative but I've not had high since Tuesday, I'm now out of OPKs and my husband has gone away with work anyway so I have no idea! When I have gotten pregnant previously we have dtd on day 14 so I was thinking I must have ovulated then previously. So I'm clueless as to whether or not I have ovulated but we did jks cd10,11 and 13 so we will see but I just don't feel excited about it this month!

Sorry I obviously needed to get that off my chest 🙈 happy Sunday everyone!

Laney79 · 24/06/2018 20:56

Thanks @Jessabean this whole process has been a nightmare for a control freak like me. I like order and being in charge-I do not cope well when my body goes off piste! Trying not to get hopes up too. Think I'm better assuming it's AF...and if not then that would be amazing, but if it is at least I'm prepared.

@zarala I've not heard of grapefruit either. I hate the stuff though! Think I'll go with the water!!! Although I did feel VERY grown up today -used a pineapple slicing machine (officially an adult now! Grin) and of course it left the core...I know some people eat the core and say it helps...any ideas how much? And can I freeze the leftovers and have it next month? I'm a pineapple core virgin!

Jessabean · 24/06/2018 20:40

Oh yea and @Lilimum4 definitely get on with the JKS! Good luck for this cycle!

Jessabean · 24/06/2018 20:39

@zarala I know hadn't heard of the grapefruit juice thing before either. Not a fan of it but I'll hold my nose and go for it if it helps!

@Laney79 could go either way to be honest. Definitely not out yet though & could be implantation bleeding. There are different levels of normal hcg and people can implant late so not out yet! Keeping fingers crossed for you it is implantation Vs the witch! Maybe get FRER +- try again in a day or two with FMU if af hasn't arrived? Hate the waiting game bit!

Laney79 · 24/06/2018 20:23

Definately JKS @Lilimum4 good luck!

So if this is AF as I thought, it's very weird. I'm now CD27, 13dpo...I thought AF had arrived yesterday morning (I had several drops of red blood when I went to the loo, and a bit on wiping so assumed it was the start...although it was about half an hour after some morning fun with his nibs!) but then after the initial bit-I had virtually nothing all day. Today has been similar-tiny amount of red/pink, and some brown (inc some browny mucus) spotting. So who knows what the hell is going on.

I did a test yesterday-just an IC (but a 10mlu one) and it was bfn.

So do you reckon this is just AF playing games and settling after MC and she'll hit like a train tomorrow? It's my second period since MC but the first one ran straight on after prolonged bleeding following med mgmt...I just want to get the witch out of the way so I can ovulate again, hopefully whilst we have our weekend away and our posh hotel stay -ideal for JKS!

I've done some checking with dr Google...If it's not AF...well it could poss be implantation but I think 12dpo is pushing it...please ladies stop me clutching at those straws-highly bloomin' unlikely. Confused goes off to google how soon i would get a positive on a test if I implanted 12dpo...

zarala · 24/06/2018 19:59

Oooh @Jessabean I'm gonna get on that grapefruit juice! Thanks for sharing

And go for it @Lilimum4 ! JKS !!! Have fun and good luck!!!!
