A thread for all those who have suffered the loss of a much wanted baby. Affectionately know as the penguin huddle.

We'll start with a roll call as there have been so many new members lately and so many success stories that I think we've all lost track.

@RedRobin7 Hold off if you're not sure. I'm sure your friend will understand and probably appreciate the gesture.

@KeefBurtain keeping everything crossed that your negative turns to a positive.

@Laney79 try to remember that women all over the world get pregnant into their 40s without too many problems. It's not as easy but very common. I'm confident You'll get there again.

@KeefBurtain I have everything crossed for you tomorrow to POAS! Xx

GPS76 · 23/06/2018 20:36

@KnitKitty than you for your kind words x
@RedRobin7 stay positive. You deserve to have a little bundle x
@Boboelephant and @YellowDaffodils86
poor you, some people can be cruel! I'm due back to work in just over a week and am dreading the comments, I'm in a very male dominant workplace so I'm sure I'll get a few comments, funny thing is I'm always a supportive ear when their wives/girlfriends are pregnant or miscarry etc but when it happens to one of the girls they don't know how to react!
@HidCat Enjoy cuddling anew baby, I'm with you , I always love a cuddle!! X
@TinyPaws Fx no cyst! Xx

KeefBurtain · 23/06/2018 20:33

AF is due tomorrow, I have a frer ready to take if she hasn’t shown up.

Symptom spotting - I have cramps, come and go headache, lumpy feeling in back of throat, tiredness, and extreme pms type rage. Don’t know if my nipples are sore or if they hurt because I keep poking them to see if they’re sore😂

Really scared to POAS Confused

Laney79 · 23/06/2018 20:28

@Boboelephant that's awful-hope he felt like the twonk he is!

@GPS76 it's so tough isn't it. I'd convinced myself that I'd be extra fertile after Mmc and as we were super relaxed (we were on hols in Greece) it would definately happen. Just had a little cry. It was so easy before-we just decided to let nature take its course and neither of us were desperate to have kids-it just happened. Now I've been pregnant I'm desperate to be a mom, and my fella knows he wants to be a dad too.

@YellowDaffodils86 fingers crossed the absence of AF is due to being preggers! Keep us updated.

@KnitKitty Thanks-I'm hoping that timings work and I ovulate a little early CD 12 -we are away for a few days ending on what will be cd12 at a posh hotel for the night thanks to a competition win. Congrats on not obsessing over ttc-can you send a bit of that positivity/lack of obsession my way please

@TinyPaws Glad you finally got your negative. Fingers crossed things settle and the clinic lets you get back to trying again.

@RedRobin7 I think that's a good move-one thing I've learnt following my MC is which friends really care-some say the words, but it's the ones who are really there who matter. You don't need people like that especially with your BFP -you need lots of love and positive thoughts.

@Lilimum4 I know what you mean about pregnant women and feeling bad. Went out with some friends today and there were lots of families and pregnant women, a couple around where idve been (23 weeks) and I felt such jealousy, and hated myself for it.

@HidCat I know what you mean about cuddling little ones. Had cuddles with a three month old yesterday-it was lovely. Also got a mate who's little boy is 11 months and I see him every couple of weeks, just adorable. One day it will be us. It. Will. Be. Us.

As for me-well this morning I was positive AF arrived (fair bit of blood when I went to the loo) but since then I've just had a tiny bit when I wipe. Did an IC hpt just in case and it was BFN (I'm 12DPO) so I'm assuming she'll hit with full force tomorrow. Trying desperately not to feel upset, but struggling. So scared that my little bean was my one and only chance (I'm 39 next month so time against me). Sorry to be down.

KnitKitty · 23/06/2018 20:02

YellowDaffodils86 Ignorance is bliss in a way too, isn't it?

RedRobin7 I understand feeling hesitant to tell her, it's a tricky situation. Go with your gut.
I'd find it hard joining the pregnancy boards too. I was one of the ones who had to drop out of the October one really early on and it wasn't nice, but then others followed. It's heart breaking. Hopefully you'll be sticking around on this one though! :)
I'm ok thanks. No pressure this TTW as we only DTD once about 4 or 5 days before ovulation so just meandering along waiting for AF. Ovary pains stopped so I think it was just bad ovulation pains and have stopped freaking out about having a cyst. Feeling quite upbeat and managing not to obsess about TTC this month which I don't feel is good for me. :)

RedRobin7 · 23/06/2018 19:42

@Boboelephant @YellowDaffodils86 So sorry you were put in those situations. What a stab through the heart xx

@KnitKitty My friend is away this weekend celebrating her brother's birthday so I don't want to ruin that for her. I know that she's due to test in about a week's time but she said she didn't think they DTD at the right time so isn't expecting a BFP. So I'm not sure I can tell her this week and then I still won't want to tell her if she gets another BFN. The longer I leave it the harder it will be. At the same time we haven't told any one, only my counsellor, so I guess my friend might understand that I've not wanted to share it with anyone yet. Trouble is, she always tells me straight away because her mum died and she doesn't talk to her dad so it's just me and her brother. Anyway, how are you feeling about everything?

I've been brave and joined the March boards. My EDD is either 28th Feb or 1st March so it makes the most sense to join March. I'm nervous though. I remember being in the September board and people started announcing they were out and they'd had a MC. I thought maybe I'd made it but because I was due end of Sept, I was the last to have a scan and "hopped off" at 12 weeks. It's going to be hard seeing those sad announcements again wondering if I'll be next. Must try to be positive. Sorry if this is upsetting for anyone. I can stop posting in here if it is.

YellowDaffodils86 · 23/06/2018 19:37

@KnitKitty i cant test till Im home so Thursday/Friday. I probably could walk into town and find a chemist but i will probably just see the next few days bring.

@TinyPaws thank you 😊

HidCat · 23/06/2018 19:32

@TinyPaws 🤞for a good outcome or at least a treatment plan.

@Boboelephant if it's any consolation I'm sure he was mortified! Try not to take it personally, just a bad misjudgement.

I'm going to see my friend and her 2 week old tomorrow. Actually really excited, she had a few years of unexplained infertility before successful ivf and a horrific birth but baby is healthy and she's healing, I'm so happy for her. I love cuddling newborns and I feel like it's a reminder of what I'm aiming for.

KnitKitty · 23/06/2018 19:19

Hi TinyPaws. I'm sorry it's taken your body so long to get back to normal. IUI sounds stressful so I hope you manage to stay as zen as possible when trying again. I hope you get your rainbow soon. xxx

Laney79 sorry AF got you this time. I totally understand feeling upset. Not only is it just another kick in the teeth after what you've been through, you'll be feeling hormonal as well. hugs xxx Good luck for this new cycle!

RedRobin7 I'm so sorry you've had this upsetting situation with your "friends". I personally would see it as a good thing that they've removed themselves from your life if they're that unsupportive and childish. You don't need friends like that. Have you managed to tell your other friend who had the MC about the BFP yet, or are you waiting?

Eugh! Boboelephant I'm so sorry that happened! I hope he was suitably embarrassed!! What a stupid thing to say! Why do people have such a talent for putting their foot in their mouths?

GPS76 sorry it wasn't your cycle this time, but hopefully this new cycle will bring more luck. :)

YellowDaffodils86 Children have a talent for saying the wrong thing at the wrong time! So sorry you had to deal with that. Really hope you ARE pregnant... Good sign that AF hasn't showed! When can you test again?

TinyPaws · 23/06/2018 19:15

@Boboelephant What a pillock! I hope he had a partner with him who gave him a right bollocking afterwards!

@Lilimum4 Yeah, I find other people's pregnancies very bittersweet too. I just wish it was me. I'm ok with babies though (well, except the Radford's, but that's another story).

@GPS76 Sorry AF found you :(

@YellowDaffodils86 Ugh, that must have been a horrible kick in the gut. Fingers crossed you conceive again soon (or maybe already have!).

YellowDaffodils86 · 23/06/2018 18:56

@Boboelephant ah my god i cringed my head off reading that! What an utter knobhead! Who says that without some concrete proof!! Hard situation all round!!

I had a similar scenario last weekend. Me and dh was at my dh brothers, he has another brother who was there, plus his dad and grandmother. His two brothers have 4 children between them. 18m- 9yrs.
There was a conversation and the eldest said something about not being able to see the fathers day dance because you are not mummies and daddies. I could have cried on the spot. Talk about hit a nerve. She didnt mean it horribly of course, just kids. But it stung to say the least!

So last month i had 7 days of spotting which seemed to be my period!

This month not a thing! Iv no bloody idea whats happening!
I have a feeling im pregnant but im not sure if its wishful thinking!

How are you doing? By the way what is smep?

GPS76 · 23/06/2018 18:42

@Boboelephant thanks for your kind words as Isla you are such an inspiration!
@TinyPaws , so sorry for your loss and fx your cycle comes back soon so you can TTC .
@Laney79 Sending you virtual hugs , that AF is a biatch!!' We also JKS at the right times this month and still AF!!' I thought I'd not not be upset just but I am too! So it's CD1 for us today , good luck for the month ahead! X

Well AF has definitely started today, I was hopeful it was only a bit of spotting over last 2 days but no! By DH just got me a bunch of flowers and bottle of wine which will be drunk tonight, tears will be shed and I am really angry but I'm going to wake up tomorrow CD2 and ready for the month ahead! I'm going down the digital ovulation route again with the SMEP.
Sorry for all those others who have had AF or BFN's!

Lilimum4 · 23/06/2018 18:08

@Boboelephant what a silly man, hugs. Its so hard when your surrounded by baby bumps. I had the same thing at the dentist yesterday, I had a little ( big) cry when I got home.

I hate the way I feel when I see pregnant ladies. I know I should be happy for them (you never know how long it took them to get pregnant) but I don't I'm so jealous its horrible. I'm a bad lady some times

Boboelephant · 23/06/2018 17:58

@zarala haha yep he's a champ!! Yeah we were all trying SMEP in Feb I think. It didn't work for me then unfortunately but none of the other ladies are here anymore so that tells you something!! 🤞
@Laney79 oh I'm so sorry hun. I know a little something about getting those bfns when you have jks at the right time and done all you can do and it's just shit. Sending hugs.
@Lilimum4 good luck for SMEP. Hope it works. Yep DH is very supportive, I am lucky. That and he really loves DTD!! 😂
@Blondcat sending hugs. It's all so hard.
@YellowDaffodils86 how frustrating. This is the second month isn't it that you have no af but bfns? I really hope you get an answer soon. What dpo are you now?
@TinyPaws so sorry for your loss and that it has been dragging out for you. I hope you get your rainbow soon.

So I had a horrendous situation today. We went to a child's party who is similar age to my DS. The mum is pregnant and due soon- 3 weeks later than what I should have been. So that was always a difficult situation but hey ho. There were several pregnant ladies there which again was hard but kinda the norm. Then I saw a man who I know but not well and haven't seen for a while. He glanced at my belly and said 'oh you're expecting too!' To which I had to reply 'uh no, no I'm not.' Now I wouldn't mind losing a few but I am a size 12 and as far as i thought DO NOT look pregnant! Certainly no-one else has ever made that mistake and I work with kids- as honest as they come! So double pain there. Not only am I apparently considerably overweight that one would mistake that my belly fat is a baby but also if i wasn't painfully aware I was one of the only non pregnant women there- I certainly am now. 😣😣

TinyPaws · 23/06/2018 16:52

@HidCat Hello, good to see you here too! Sorry it was such a long wait for you!

I don't have a date, when I come on next I need to call the clinic to arrange baseline scan. My period is due in about a week but my body has been very weird since miscarriage so not confident it will arrive at the usual time.

There's no guarantee I'll be able to go on the next cycle as they did see a cyst on one of my miscarriage follow up scans and if it's too big I'll not be allowed to try. However, I don't think it's grown as I can't feel anything and I'm normally pretty sensitive to changes in my body.

RedRobin7 · 23/06/2018 16:31

@HidCat @sweetpea0318 @zarala Maybe there was some misunderstanding there but friends should reach out, even if it's just to say hi and that they've been thinking of me. I think it was more that maybe they didn't know what to say and then too much time went by. The way they've done this has made me realise that I'm better off without them so I'm just not going to contact them. Thanks for letting me vent x

HidCat · 23/06/2018 16:24

@TinyPaws glad to see you back and ready to think about trying again. I feel your pain re slow hcg drop, took mine 3 months to get down a and then another month for my period. It's a long, long wait. Do you have a date yet for your next attempt?

TinyPaws · 23/06/2018 16:17

Hello everyone. I recognise a couple of names on this thread. Been reading along for a while but only now feel ready to join in. Sorry for those who've had BFNs recently.

I lost my first pregnancy back in April but pregnancy tests only turned negative a week or two ago. It's been a long old road.

My situation is a little different in that I'm in a same sex relationship, trying to conceive through medicated IUI. The odds of conception are similar to couples trying the traditional way, however there is significant financial pressure to conceive as the treatment is costly.

I've had one "period" since the miscarriage but the clinic would not permit me to try again on that cycle as not enough time had elapsed since the miscarriage. I was not physically or emotionally ready anyway. I'm now waiting for a new cycle to begin so we can try again.

YellowDaffodils86 · 23/06/2018 15:08

@hello from sunny Turkey!
I just managed to pop on and try catch up.
Thank you for all the supportive messages Thursday☺️
I spent Wednesday at the airport running to the loo, sure AF was here, but just tons of creamy cm.
i tested Thursday with a BFN😩
But i still have no AF or any hint of her coming. I also have no pregnancy symptoms.
Iv no access to any HPTs so all i can do is sit and wait!

How is everyone? I need to sit and read through all is going on.

Lilimum4 · 23/06/2018 12:29

@DaisyMay25 thanks that makes sense about the ring I'll try it next time I need to post a pic.
@Blondcat and @zarala thanks ladies I'm feeling quite positive this month x

Blondcat · 23/06/2018 12:24

@laney79 sorry af got you too it is really hard not to get your hopes up especially when you know you jks at the right times. I had a little cry this morning on cd2 as think it really hit me today (work distracted me yesterday).

Hugs to @zarala and @daisymay25 too hope af stays away for you..

@lilimum4 goodluck with your smep and jks.

zarala · 23/06/2018 11:00

@Lilimum4 yes I posted the link yesterday- I had never heard of it before- but I guess it's a known thing!
Good luck with it and fx this is your month!

@Laney79 I'm sorry it sucks! I am trying not to be sad about this month too- but it is hard not to get our hopes up! Sending hugs

Lilimum4 · 23/06/2018 10:56

@Boboelephant we are trying smep after I saw a post about it on here yesterday I think. I'm cd9 now so we started last night. Hubby isn't as convinced as me but he said he'll try bless him its hard because he works 15 hour and 13 hour shifts in the lorry. Your DH sounds like he's really supporting. Good luck with it this month x

@RedRobin7 you hit the nail on the head lovely. I was talking to DH about that same topic two days ago when I expressed my heart ache for you ladies and all the recent new ladies and how many times this happens but its never talked about. I never really had any idea about MC's until a had two back to back. I do talk about it openly and its surprising how many people try to stop me.
@Laney79 sorry to heart AF got you fx for next month
@DaisyMay25 and @zarala sorry to hear AF on the way fx for both also

Baby dust to all in FW and TWW and fx to anyone testing soon. Hugs to anyone else I didn't mention and hopeful wishes to all xx

Laney79 · 23/06/2018 10:13

Well that's me out for this month. AF has just arrived I think. Was really hopeful we'd caught on our holiday in Greece, we certainly JKS at all the right times, but I guess it wasn't to be.

I know I shouldn't be upset...but I am. This is really hard.
