CALLING ALL YAMMER'S!

Yammer rules:

A safe place for those of you who have been trying to conceive for 6+ months and even yams aren’t helping. Come and have a good ol’ bitch and a moan without judgement. Please read the rules before posting!

The Yam Commandments are as follows;

  • Thou shalt not arrive one day and post BFP next day
  • Thou shalt not give advice to others when TTC for one month only
  • Thou shalt not participate in one-up-manship and realise TTC is shit for everyone in different ways
  • Thou shall allow posters to be fucked off with the world and everything in it at regular points in the month
  • Thou shalt not be offended by strong language
  • Thou shalt not tell everyone to eat yams
  • Thou shall accept being called a muppet for testing at 7dpo at 9pm at night

And most importantly...

  • Thou shalt not symptom spot during the two week wait and must be prepared for a telling off if you do so.

NEW RULE ALERT!

-Thou shalt not post pictures of positive pregnancy tests. We will be delighted to hear about it but no photos, please and thank you

So, that was short-lived excitement.
Tested again this morning and it’s negative. Also looks like the start of AF, but 5 days late after loads of symptoms and a BFP.

Knew I shouldn’t have gotten my hopes up. 😔 What the hell is going on!!?

Teachermummy83 · 22/09/2018 06:55

Thanks impatient mummy 😊
So sorry ladies, just re-read the rules and realised I shouldn’t have posted a picture - mortified 😳
Can’t seem to take it down? Can an admin help?

ImpatientMammy · 22/09/2018 00:21

Congratulations @Teachermummy83
Hope your all doing ok, the procedures sound awful but hopefully it will all be worth it.
I ran out of OPKs which I told myself would remove the stress but I just feel even less in control. Hopefully I get a clear ovulation and can relax. X

Teachermummy83 · 21/09/2018 21:46

Eeeek!

The Good, The Bad and The Yams!
Teachermummy83 · 21/09/2018 21:44

Sounds like everyone is in the throws of treatment, tests, injections and medical interventions..... you all seem to be taking steps forward so good luck to you all - keeping my fingers crossed for everyone xx

In other news, after holding off testing all week, I’m scared to believe this might be true, but ....... this looks positively positive?
Must buy another tomorrow just incase this is a fluke!

Booksandbaths1 · 21/09/2018 15:28

@OrcinusOrca yep I jolted with paint at one point too. Mostly it was just uncomfortable but at one point the dr asked for extra liquid and that hurt. They were super lovely about it but it felt quite intrusive having the dildo cam up there. It felt like ages as they couldn't fine one tube apparently 🤔 My dh has done 2 x samples. The 1 on nhs he did his biz at home into a provided container and took it to hospital (had an hr to make it in with it which was fine as we live close ish). 2nd one was in the private clinic in a 'special room' - porn provided. I empathise with your partner as I also get faint and freaked out in clinical environments (not ideal if we're about to start ivf). Not uncommon. Maybe he should ask if he can take his sample in?

OrcinusOrca · 21/09/2018 13:02

@maddiie how typical, very annoying. Hope Tuesday comes quickly for you Thanks

@Booksandbaths1 urgh hycosys are horrid aren't they! I jolted at one point and I thought I was alright with pain...no DH has to do SA before our next appt so he's going early October. He has ASD and struggles in clinical environments, comes over all faint. I'm a bit worried about if he'll manage it. Did your DH have to go to hospital to do it, how did he find it?

Confusing when you get different opinions. Did you have the figures yourself, maybe there are ranges and he was on the cusp with one doctor going one way and the other another?

My DH is a bit panicky he's the problem after a clear hycosy. I do wonder if the metformin is helping PCOS though, maybe that's been our big issue. I can cling onto some hope for that anyway..!

maddiie · 21/09/2018 12:47

@OrcinusOrca Blood results are in but no doctor to read them until tuesday apparently Hmm Glad your results were ok and Thanks for getting through that it must of been tough for you x

Good luck @Pinkemi crossing everything for you x

Booksandbaths1 · 21/09/2018 09:24

Oh gosh @OrcinusOrca that sounds tough. I found the hycosy pretty horrible but with all that additional trauma that must have been especially hard for you. Well done - a significant hurdle to clear. Confusing about the different diagnosis for pcos. Perhaps the metformin is helping. Has your partner does a SA before? My poor dh is getting himself in a tizz as the IVF Dr gave him a 1 pager of dos and don'ts for improving sperm and he's now stressing about how much exercise is too much and what constitutes 1 unit of alcohol. Tbh I'm confused too as 1 Dr said his sperm was fine and another is now saying we need ICSI.

OrcinusOrca · 21/09/2018 06:14

I had a hycosy yesterday. I cried at the start Sad I was sexually abused growing up and I can't even explain why I cry it's an automatic response. I probably do feel out of control. Fertility issues are like the icing on the cake, just another reminder that I can't keep a lid on 'that' box. The staff were really lovely. I told them I might cry at the beginning but that I'd be OK it just happens and I can't seem to not do it.

Results were all clear anyway, everything looks lovely apparently. DH has to spunk in a pot in a couple of weeks. I don't really know what's next. They did say my ovaries didn't look polycystic yesterday, I wonder if metformin can work that fast? I was told they were with an ultrasound in July. Apparently I had a dominant follicle so DH and I need to crack on. Shame I have such little inclination right now! Been feeling quite unwell again with bouts of IBS. Not having a great time at the minute.

OrcinusOrca · 21/09/2018 06:10

Morning fellow Yammers.

@Booksandbaths1 hope your move went well. My neighbours have made comments about 'it's a lovely big family house...' we have been here a year now. We have spread out well haha. Four bedrooms, one ours, one a spare, one a dressing room as the other a study/craft room with day bed that the dogs sleep on.

@Pinkemi not surprised you feel skint! I don't blame your fuck it attitude with the weight. I have found it hard to motivate myself to do things that 'might' help. Gets to a point where you just think some people blink and get preggers and I think fuck it about things like caffeine and sugar right
now, I need some kinda pick me ups!

@Owlpatrol Gosh she sounds rather OTT doesn't she...hope she simmers down!

@maddiie Did you get your results?

Si1ver · 20/09/2018 21:19

Good luck @Pinkemi. Try not to fret about the injections. They're actually very straightforward.

I used pens (auto injects) for most of my meds and honestly it was fine, the anticipation was the worst. Even the ones that were needles and syringes were fine really. It stung a bit.

Do be prepared for how much it all fucks with your head though. It's a lot of pressure on you. I did a lot of mindfulness and meditation. Even so I fully cracked up half way through and regretted starting.

Pinkemi · 20/09/2018 21:13

So because of the amount of medication i will need (cries), 1 cycle would cost us something stupid like £7k.

The clinic im going to do a package for 3 rounds at just under £9k plus any extras you want like egg freezing etc.

Seeing as the consultant was so doom and gloom about it working first round Sad, we decided to go for the multi cycle... hence why i now feel so poor! Haha there goes our rainy day fund. Confused

Sadly i dont qualify for NHS.. not until i lose about 3 stone and ive really really struggled with that. Especially now.. i seem to have this "F*ck it attitude" which i cant seem to shake... which is bad! Im close to the cut of BMI at the moment.. i need to work hard the next couple of weeks to get it down to a more comfortable position so they dont cancel before we have even started.

Booksandbaths1 · 20/09/2018 20:28

Yes @pinkemi it must feel really daunting. Are you paying for a few cycles or just one? I know you can get deals if you pay for a few in advance but I think I'm a bit too hesitant to go for that. Plus we should qualify for our nhs cycle next spring.

Pinkemi · 20/09/2018 16:43

@Booksandbaths1 yep! We had to pay the full amount two weeks prior to the cycle starting. Its to make sure they can order the medication etc and make sure it gets to us in time (incase FP starts early for some reason.)

Im glad someone is excited about it.. I'm not! haha Went to our injection teach this morning and felt a bit woozy just looking at those needles. Sad Really am not great with them.. Hoping DH can help out!

Booksandbaths1 · 20/09/2018 16:26

Eeeek @pinkemi that's big news! I might be in a similar position next week as we have scheduled a pre ivf start appmt. Do they ask for full payment up front?

Pinkemi · 20/09/2018 15:05

Oh my god.. I just paid for our IVF cycles! I feel sick.. Due to start in a couple of weeks. Confused

Feeling sick and very poor.

LexieJean · 20/09/2018 12:35

Ha! @books I think you’re onto something there: what to do with the spare rooms we naively thought would be filled with children

@maddiie my acupuncturist put the fear into me saying she’d rather I had a proper coffee once a week than decaf because of the chemicals they use to make it decaf!

Booksandbaths1 · 20/09/2018 11:54

Good luck with the tests @maddiie Hopefully they give you an idea of why your cycles are so long and you can get some next steps to making it easier. I saw your comment about the friend who said getting pregnant should be 'easy at your age' - I bet you were fuming. So insensitive!

Yes @Owlpatrol dh and I cracked open a bottle of bubbly last night as first night in new home. It's a bit stressy as feels quite like a 'family home' and I'm sure his parents will make a comment about why aren't we having a baby when they visit this weekend. Stuff it, it's a lovely house and if no baby in the coming years then it'll be a dog and a massive fuck off wine rack 😀 (tbh maybe them anyway)!

maddiie · 19/09/2018 14:05

@Owlpatrol I love when AF eventually turns up cause atleast its a clean slate. Hoping this next month will bring us all BFP

@LexieJean Not tempted by a nice decaf? Grin

I had my blood tests this morning, find out results tomorrow and if they come back clear I'm back down the docs for some hormone tests. Atleast the balling is rolling eh..

Anyone else seem to be right in the middle of this storm? DH left the windows down on his car over night and I'm still in work so haven't seen the damage but from the language in his texts I'd assume it's pretty bad Blush

LexieJean · 19/09/2018 13:17

Gah! I really really want a coffe but because I’m in my 2ww I’ve banned myself. So bloody irritating as no doubt my FP will arrive next week and I’ll have forgone a tasty coffee for nothing. TTC sucks.

Owlpatrol · 18/09/2018 19:37

I'm so sorry to hear all the baby bombs this sucks! I'm so sick of hearing about how pregnant this girl at work feels, literally she's even pinned a picture of her scan to work work notice board! Really!?! Who does that!

@Booksandbaths1 house move sounds good, good luck tomorrow and have a cheeky celebratory wine!

I've actually surprising had a good day, it's a relief when af comes because the week build up is so brutal. But I'm on v heavy I have literally had to go to the loo every 2 hours!

Pinkemi · 18/09/2018 18:51

So sorry @owlpatrol that FP got to you.

Im thinking that we are out this month too.. currently curled up in bed feeling rotten! All that partying has caught up with me.. shouldnt have had such a f*ck it attitude. How on earth is a baby meant to implant when im fighting this. [Sad]

maddiie · 18/09/2018 16:08

Good luck with the move @Booksandbaths1 and bet the IVF appt was scary but atleast things are in motion!

Feeling particularly low about it all today, feel like I'm surrounded by people getting pregnant without even trying (another one of my friends this morning announced her "massive little surprise") and I confided in another friend last night about my issues ttc and all she said was "you're 24 how are you struggling? Should be easy at your age" aaaand now I feel 400 times worse.

There's just no one I can talk to about this in real life, all of my friends either got pregnant with no trouble or are still so young they're not even thinking about it yet. Sad

Booksandbaths1 · 18/09/2018 09:34

Good luck @Teachermummy83 I hope it's your month.

I had my hycosy this morning - it took almost an hr what with ultrasounds too. I'm certainly glad it's over with - apparently tubes seem clear. We had an ivf appmt yesterday too. Had bloods for HIV and hepatitis as they have to check them before any treatment. Quite daunting. Oh and we're moving house tomorrow to a place we've bought. All change at the moment!

@LexieJean oh sorry to hear about the chemical - did you get a positive test? That must be so gutting.x
