CALLING ALL YAMMER'S!

Yammer rules:

A safe place for those of you who have been trying to conceive for 6+ months and even yams aren’t helping. Come and have a good ol’ bitch and a moan without judgement. Please read the rules before posting!

The Yam Commandments are as follows;

  • Thou shalt not arrive one day and post BFP next day
  • Thou shalt not give advice to others when TTC for one month only
  • Thou shalt not participate in one-up-manship and realise TTC is shit for everyone in different ways
  • Thou shall allow posters to be fucked off with the world and everything in it at regular points in the month
  • Thou shalt not be offended by strong language
  • Thou shalt not tell everyone to eat yams
  • Thou shall accept being called a muppet for testing at 7dpo at 9pm at night

And most importantly...

  • Thou shalt not symptom spot during the two week wait and must be prepared for a telling off if you do so.

NEW RULE ALERT!

-Thou shalt not post pictures of positive pregnancy tests. We will be delighted to hear about it but no photos, please and thank you

@OrcinusOrca You've nothing to be ashamed of at all - you did what was right for you, though I understand it must be hard not to wonder. I sort of feel the same about having been on hormonal contraception for so many years - hard not to wonder if it buggered up my system but was defo the correct choice for then.

I have chickens too! (Hence my username!). I can't post pics as I'm always posting my chooks all over fb (because I don't have real children!) and am scared it could out me!! 😂🐓

WonkyDonk87 · 01/06/2018 16:53

I've got acupuncture then sorting my house ready for the last bit of flooring to be done.

@OrcinusOrca I demand pics of your chickens, I'm so jealous! Do they lay?

LimpLettice · 01/06/2018 16:38

Orcinus this is the thread for unsayable elsewhere shit. Welcome Smile. I know how the what ifs go, but you have seriously nothing to be ashamed of.

We came home from hol yesterday, but had a massive delay so didn't get in until 4.30am. I'm beyond shattered and on my third load of laundry already. My garden has taken fecundity to a ridiculous level in my absence so tomorrow is going to be spent sorting out the triffids.

SoozC · 01/06/2018 15:48

I am writing reports... groan

OrcinusOrca · 01/06/2018 15:45

You guys rock. I didn't expect to feel this accepted here Blush

As for FP, right up my street!

What are everyone's weekend plans? I am off to pick up the grocery shop and then I need to clean the house and clean the chickens out later. Much prefer trying to do all the boring stuff before the weekend. Hopefully DH will have bathed the hounds before I get home...

LookingAtTheStars89 · 01/06/2018 13:04

@OrcinusOrca. We don't judge here x x I haven't had a termination but I had a missed miscarriage last summer and I had to have it medically managed with tablets, it's wreaked havoc with my cycles. I can understand where you are coming from with the "what ifs" I sometimes sit and wonder whether the positive rest I got last summer was the last positive test I would ever see.

@LexieJean. I was disturbed by DH and DD at some point in the night so maybe it was that. My poor DD (5) gets night terrors. She'll randomly wake up every now and then and be like "AAAAAHHHH" and I jump out of bed all dazed and stumbling lol.

Sorry you’re feeling so down @orcinus but don’t feel shame. You made a decision that was right for you at the time. It’s impossible to know when we’re in our 20s how our bodies will be later in life. I hope you get some answers about your hormones.

Oh and FP is fucking period- some discussion on an earlier thread about ridiculous abbreviations and terms like baby dust 🙄 and yammers have since referred to ‘aunt flo’ (seriously who uses that ever) as FP!

@looking maybe that should be added to our rules- alternative abbreviations! Don’t count yourself out yet. I would often get night sweats before FP but my acupuncture seems to have eased them. 🤞 it’s just a clomid side effect for you.

OrcinusOrca · 01/06/2018 12:28

Feeling so dense, what is FP fellow yammers?

I am going to the GP a week Monday, have to go for an appt to request CD21 bloods apparently. I had some done during my long cycle (CD43 of 48 day cycle in the end) and my progesterone was 26. That fits for luteal phase but I'm pretty sure my LP is only 10 days or so and I do get brown spotting so I feel like my progesterone should be higher. My skin was fine before Feb as well so I'm convinced there is something hormonal going on. Hopefully I can at least get a snapshot of an idea about whether there are hormone issues or not.

I had a termination when I was 21 and it always lingers in my head the 'what if' that was my only chance. It was awful and my periods were horrific afterwards, they took months to settle down even when on the pill. So much pain, I don't have that now at least. Feeling a bit sorry for myself today. It's bang on five years to this cycle too. Feels such a taboo thing; I've not really mentioned it on MN before, think I am ashamed deep down Sad

LookingAtTheStars89 · 01/06/2018 12:20

Well I think I'm out already, insomnia filled night of tossing and turning during the night. It ALWAYS happens before FP. I'm betting it will be here by the start of next week. I had a scone this morning and I feel bad now!

Still lurking too yammers, hope this is a fruitful thread.

My libido was sky high when ttc. Now of course I've nothing. Sex free honeymoon. Poor DH 🙄.

Chooklass · 01/06/2018 10:50

Hi @edinbeezer - it does refer to yam as in sweet pot! Relates to the precursor to this long-running thread where someone helpfully suggested yams might help. It wasn't taken too well by a bunch of women who are undergoing all manner of medical procedures and have tried everything under the moon, funnily enough, and has been a running joke ever since!

LexieJean · 01/06/2018 10:48

@pinkemi I’m with you on the low sex drive. Not sure how to get it back. Ideas yammers?!

MynameisJune · 01/06/2018 10:44

@pinkemi we often just have sex because it’s the right time. It’s not the best way but when you’re TTC every fertile day counts.

edinbeezer · 01/06/2018 10:01

Hello. I'm fairly new to this so could someone please tell me what 'yam' means (other than a sweet potato)? Thanks!

hellotoyellow · 01/06/2018 10:00

Hello again! Long time lurker, sometimes poster. 31, TTC 15 months, one BFP Feb 2018 ending in MMC in April. Complicated+ by DH in America for a bit -all carefully made flight plans thrown to the wind by the MC.

Managed to DTD somewhere near ovulation this week so this cycle is a goer. Sadly no other ones will be until August so fingers x'd.

Can completely identify with the sex thing! You'd think only seeing DH once a month would help.... Feeling totally bloated from the plane for most of my visits really doesn't!

Pinkemi · 01/06/2018 09:45

I've been away from this thread so long I've had tons to catch up on! Congrats to all those with their BFP's.

I'm currently on holiday.. and just burst into tears! A week before my FP is due.. which is normally when I get my PMS symptoms. :-( so fed up of all this.

My OH just said he wasn't surprised if we aren't pregnant.. because we have hardly had any sex this month. We have only had sex once this holiday but I thought we had managed to catch my fertile time.

I'm just so fed up of it all.. my libido is non existant. :-( TTC is just so damn hard. I don't want to have sex just because.. you know?

MynameisJune · 01/06/2018 08:43

@hidcat that’s what I was thinking.

@cariad2017 I know that it’s unlikely, yesterday was a little bit more than spotting but nothing like it usually is. I know it’s unlikely and I’m probably clutching at straws but I’ve had some really weird pains that lasted into Wednesday that were very specific stabbing pains on the left side. Nothing like my usual cramps either. I usually need paracetamol on the first/second day for pains. I think I’ve just convinced myself so much this month because we dtd at the right times etc and my boobs hurt which is unusual that I’m struggling to believe it’s over again for another month! So much for giving up 🙈🙄😂

Cariad2017 · 01/06/2018 08:37

Mynameis - I was wondering how you were getting along! I would definitely take a test before heading out this evening, as if you’re not pregnant it will mean that you can have a nice evening with alcohol without any what ifs. If you are pregnant (and I sincerely hope you are) it definitely won’t do you any harm to find out now. If you’ve had spotting since Wednesday then I’m guessing you should be far enough along from implantation for any pregnancy to come up on a test.

Keeping everything crossed for you. I really hope this is IT. Xxx

HidCat · 01/06/2018 08:35

@MynameisJune if it would ease your mind thendoibga test wot hurt. At least you can get drunk guilt free then!

MynameisJune · 01/06/2018 08:30

Checking in for the new thread.

Advice - fp came bang on time on Wednesday. But it has been super light for me. I’m on day 3 of what should be a 4 day period and all I’ve got is spotting. Now logically I know I’m highly unlikely to be pregnant but I’ve got a night out planned tonight and I don’t know whether to test when I get home later just to make sure?

HidCat · 01/06/2018 08:11

@LexieJean sorry to hear you got your FP but yet for the silver lining!

LexieJean · 01/06/2018 07:19

Morning yammers. I was woken early with FP arrival a few days early. Brilliant. Silver lining- my next fw now falls when we’re on hols! ☀️🍆 🏖

@bridget I know that feeling- hope you managed a quickie when he got home!

WonkyDonk87 · 01/06/2018 07:18

Bridget your romance skills sound like mine - straight to the point! Hope you managed to stay awake long enough!

Welcome Mellp. Sorry to hear you're here, hope it's not for long.

Chooklass · 01/06/2018 07:08

Welcome @Mellp - you sound like a yammer!

Mellp · 01/06/2018 06:41
