CALLING ALL YAMMER'S!

Yammer rules:

A safe place for those of you who have been trying to conceive for 6+ months and even yams aren’t helping. Come and have a good ol’ bitch and a moan without judgement. Please read the rules before posting!

The Yam Commandments are as follows;

  • Thou shalt not arrive one day and post BFP next day
  • Thou shalt not give advice to others when TTC for one month only
  • Thou shalt not participate in one-up-manship and realise TTC is shit for everyone in different ways
  • Thou shall allow posters to be fucked off with the world and everything in it at regular points in the month
  • Thou shalt not be offended by strong language
  • Thou shalt not tell everyone to eat yams
  • Thou shall accept being called a muppet for testing at 7dpo at 9pm at night

And most importantly...

  • Thou shalt not symptom spot during the two week wait and must be prepared for a telling off if you do so.

NEW RULE ALERT!

-Thou shalt not post pictures of positive pregnancy tests. We will be delighted to hear about it but no photos, please and thank you

@BGDino I hear you on the "something that should have been fun and spontaneous" bit. Im struggling to keep my libido up... which i know is upsetting for my OH.

BGDino · 03/07/2018 14:40

@LexieJean @Booksandbaths1 I know what you mean. I think I'm still going through the process of accepting that this isn't going to happen naturally, that something that should have been fun and spontaneous and relatively stress-free for hubby is now going to be very timed and clinical and pressured. I find out on Thursday if we're going to go with ovulation induction vs IUI vs IVF I think... honestly I just want to get on with the process, whatever it is...

Booksandbaths1 · 02/07/2018 19:35

@LexieJean ah yes I understand. I feel equally torn myself. The doctors want us to do ivf soon ish due to my crappy fsh/amh but I wonder if we should just leave it longer as I'd love to just get pregnant naturally. Plus the v real fear of trying ivf and it not working - good as a back up plan but not one we actually have to use. Sorry, I'm waffling but just trying to say I get it. Perhaps try to see it as pursuing an additional avenue to having a child alongside the old fashioned way.

LexieJean · 02/07/2018 18:05

@books I just mean it would have been nice to get pg naturally. I’m not sure the ivf will even work but it makes me feel like we’ve given up on getting pg without stuffing my body full of drugs. I don’t know- I’d LOVE it if the ivf works obvs I just feel a bit mixed up about it all at the mo. I’m so grateful we have the chance, don’t get me wrong it’s just a bit weird 🤷‍♀️

Booksandbaths1 · 02/07/2018 16:52

@BGDino enjoy some well deserved r&r!
@hope good luck with the test and well done you giving blood. Truly admirable.
@LexieJean sorry about FP. What do you mean running out of time re ivf?

Can anyone advise me re HyCoSy... we went to see a private specialist who said there wasn't much point in doing one as if I'm not pregnant in 6 months they suggest ivf which bypasses tubes anyway. However I've read tube testing is a common preliminary test for infertility so I'm unsure why I'd not get it. Have you guys had it done? Nhs or private?

LexieJean · 02/07/2018 15:39

Good luck @hope

My FP arrived on Saturday. Wasn’t a huge surprise but still made me sad.

I did however get my referral letter to start nhs ivf so we have to make an appointment. Not sure how I feel about it- kind of like we’ve run out of time.

BGDino · 02/07/2018 14:34

On an unrelated note, finally going off call and turning my phone to Do Not Disturb mode at 5pm today was soooooo satisfying Grin

Hopeislost · 02/07/2018 14:02

Thanks @LexieJean - it was a glorious weekend!

Sorry to hear that @Pinkemi

I'm going to have to POAS if FP doesn't arrive soon as I'm going to give blood tomorrow. Already dreading the white window of doom!

Pinkemi · 02/07/2018 10:38

@BGDino thanks! I think i took the test because I was off to a BBQ and wanted to be able to have a few drinks. Plus with all the "symptoms" I have been having.

I've got really lax with my weight loss etc again. I dunno why I do it! Lost 7lbs in June eventually (because of a bad weekend of eating). July will need to be better! Have been looking at bootcamps etc.

BGDino · 02/07/2018 09:00

@Pinkemi hugs

Pinkemi · 01/07/2018 11:10

I dunno what made me do it.. but just took a test 5 days before period is due and of course it's a BFN.

Been feeling really on edge this morning. Broke down in tears for a really stupid reason and i guess i was just being hopeful. (Hope is still slightly there.. wont go until FP shows her face.) Onto the 15th month of trying. Sad

Booksandbaths1 · 30/06/2018 22:59

@sparkwood21 I'm afraid I'm not sure about t3 t4 levels as I've never been able to persuade my gp to test them. However the tsh should definitely be below 2 if ttc. You may find you need even more than 75mg to bring it down.
@BGDino i did exactly the same yesterday. I feel petty for doing it but I was getting in a real funk seeing it all. I justified it by thinking that I'm in a vulnerable place just now and I need to nurture and look after my own feelings.
I've had a fun weekend enjoying the sun in the great outdoors. Although in the past few months 2 of 3 friends I've confided in (who were also going thru their own much shorter ttc journeys) got pregnant and the 3rd is now not replying to my messages. From past experience this means she's pregnant but feels awkward. Ugh god this stuff is an emotional rollercoaster. I can never decide if being open or not is better!

HidCat · 30/06/2018 17:48

@BGDino it's not pathetic, it's just not want you need to see right now. Don't feel bad about it.

BGDino · 30/06/2018 16:01

I just unfollowed friends on Facebook and Instagram who are pregnant or new mums, it hurts too much every time I come across a new post. Feeling pretty pathetic for doing it.

FairyAnn · 30/06/2018 06:37

Morning Yammers! Hope you all have some nice plans for the weekend?

I'm off out for dinner with OH and friends tonight, which will be a nice distraction from waiting for AF to arrive. Was supposed to be yesterday, so likely to arrive today

LexieJean · 29/06/2018 18:07

@hope enjoy your DofE stuff this weekend! Hope FP stays away for you.

I have not relented yet and poas. I’m going straight from work out, then up early tomorrow and out all day so I won’t have a chance before then anyway. And don’t have any tests at home. FP will have arrived by Sunday so I’m glad I’m saving the money. I agree @pink I’d just get depressed seeing a bfn.

I’m ready for wine! Happy wine day Friday yammers!

Pinkemi · 29/06/2018 16:37

@LexiJean My peeing in the night only really started this week so I havent had the chance to tell my acupuncturist. I never have a session in the last week or so in the run up to FP. But I hear you with POAS. I just found myself trying to work out how many days early I would be if i did one tomorrow morning.. gah! Stupid really.. would be such a waste of money! I'm pretty pretty sure we missed the window. No need to waste the money.. Plus I think if it was negative I would just get depressed.. and don't want that really.

@BGDino you sound like you have similar stress levels this week with worth. It sucks doesn't it! I am SO SO ready for this week to be over already! Hope your meeting on the 5th goes okay!

So.. i have obviously been thinking a lot about babies etc recently. Cried yesterday at an anti abortion advert.. then dreamt that I had become a sonographer!

the advert was for this company in the US called "Save the Storks." They have a van that drives round the country and offer Free sonograms (i think thats what they are called) to women who are thinking of having an abortion.. The idea is as soon as the women hear the babies heart beat they decide they cant go through with it.

I shouldn't be talking about these sorts of things on here but i thought what this company does is pretty amazing.. and wanted to share I guess. They should have something similar in the UK.

Ill shut up now..

LexieJean · 29/06/2018 13:36

@pink sounds like we’re in the same place. I hadn’t really been thinking about the fact I’ve been getting up to pee in the night until my acupuncturist noted it down last night. Now I’m trying to not think about poas! So ridiculous as I’m sure we missed the opportune window in fw. Damn that hope. It’s really screwing with my Friday feeling!

BGDino · 29/06/2018 11:37

No need to blush @Pinkemi I took a test for far less!

My two weeks on call is almost over so my stress levels will be going down soon, thankfully. It was our unit’s first 2 weeks operational after relocating. The last time I felt this much like I didn’t have my shit together was my first time on call after becoming a consultant last year!!! 😥

Got a copy of my fertility specialist’s letter to my gynae in the mail, sounds like ovulation induction is ahead for me. We’ll know when we see him on the 5th! Very impatient to get on!!!

Pinkemi · 29/06/2018 11:08

Im really trying hard not to symptom spot but finding it crazily difficult this month.

Keep getting weird tummy aches (probably because Ive cut down massively on carbs) and keep waking up around 5am desperate for the loo (probably because I keep drinking water too close to bedtime.) Also my lower back hurts (probably due to being chained to my desk for the past week) and my shoulders are killing me. (That one I KNOW is stress related. lol)

Work is so stressy at the moment.. i would be VERY surprised if anything had actually happened... but.. always hopeful. ha!

I know i shouldnt say this but I cant wait for the hot weather to go away.. at least for when im trying to sleep. Im sure im feeling so exhausted from lack of quality sleep! (and not because im wondering if its an early pregnancy symptom! haha)

Honestly.. I did google "when does the needing to pee in the middle of the night start in early pregnancy." blush

Countrygirl94 · 29/06/2018 10:04

Morning Ladies, how is everyone getting on?
I am loving this heatwave just now (though today it's cold and foggy, curse of living next to the sea!)
Week has been all over the place with DH scheduled to go away and then being bumped every couple of days. Has meant he's now here fertile week though!
I was taking the fact he was going away as a missed month and focusing on myself, getting back into exercise, healthy eating and yoga. It's only been 5 days but I feel better in myself. Hoping this positivity does some good.

SparkwoodAnd21 · 27/06/2018 20:45

Good luck tonight nearly! 🍆🍆🍆

Thyroid experts: I had a blood test and my TSH has gone up to 7.32, T3 is 3.4 and T4 is 12.5. She’s upped me from 50 to 75 mcg a day to get my TSH back down (went to under 1 at one point) but where should T3 and T4 be?

Booksandbaths1 · 27/06/2018 17:42

@nearlysummer2018 It's always worth a shot so personally speaking I'd go for it. In all probability you've likely missed the ideal window but you can never be totally certain when ovulation happens after a peak. Maybe pounce after you both back from work 😄

nearlysummer2018 · 27/06/2018 17:27

Hi ladies, quick question: if I got a peak smiley Monday and yesterday is there any point in days tonight? We only did it twice this month and I think we've left it too late. There's literally been no time. Next month he's on holiday too so there's no chance then!

Booksandbaths1 · 27/06/2018 11:10

@Fairyann yep I agree. I'm pretty good most of the time anyway and in the past when I've given up booze completely I've not noticed much difference. I guess I'm just trying to focus on things I can control during this time when I feel a real lack of certainty. Tbh now I think about it I'd probably do better to focus on doing more exercise rather than cutting stuff as it will get those endorphins going which may be better for my health than a few less glasses of wine.x
