Husband agrees there is a faint line. AF not due until Wednesday/Thursday

Jenstro20 · 02/06/2018 03:56

So. I'm trying to remain grounded. What do you ladies think?

Delilah7 · 31/05/2018 07:30

Unfortunately ladies I took a test ( won't let me post as I've posted it to others ) think I'm out. AF still hasn't arrived x

Frizzy1986 · 31/05/2018 07:28

Random question. I've got this really full feeling in my tummy at the moment and it comes in waves. Its like I've got a lump in there or something. Obvs its not a baby or anything as firstly af has appeared and second you can't feel it this early, but anyone else had that before. It's freaking me out a little bit as I have no idea what it is.
Is it just me being a fatty? This is quite possible as I have gained a bit of a tummy these past few weeks! 😂

Frizzy1986 · 30/05/2018 23:46

Sorry jenstro really hope they agree to give you the investigations you need and deserve.
Well af has arrived for me it seems. Totally fine with that, just glad I know for sure.
Maybe next month I won't symptom spot as I've had everything this month with no bfp, so it should stop me from going looney next month.

buntingandstarcharts · 30/05/2018 23:15

@Jenstro20 this is so weird because I feel like you are me in so many ways! I have neuro condition and have switched medications since trying for babies AND I have suspected PCOS due to severe pain before and during ovulation on the left hand side (I know it was your right). I'm chunky and also very fit, I could do with losing two stone. It's so hard not to feel like you're useless when potentially it being one of her reasons that you're not pregnant. However, I've never been pregnant and now on month 7 and in the two week wait and just know deep down that there's issues.

I'm so sorry you had your tube removed, how scary for you and I bet that was horrible thinking it would affect your fertility.

You're not a failure, some of my 'healthiest' friends have struggled!

Did you say your partner's sperm has been looked at?

X

KimRobs87 · 30/05/2018 18:13

Aww @Jenstro20 - you're not a failure!! Stay strong xxx

TheTittifersHaveSungTheirSong · 30/05/2018 18:11

Oh @Jenstro20 sorry to hear your struggles! Hope your journey from here isn't too long...please don't feel like a failure though-that's not the case at all Thanks

Jenstro20 · 30/05/2018 17:17

@buntingandstarcharts I have managed to conceive twice. The first time, 7 years ago, we couldn't go ahead with the pregnancy due to a neuro condition I had just been diagnosed with. The medication could not be taken at the time of the pregnancy. It was a difficult decision to make, but with that it was that my health was the priority. I was probs 1 stone lighter than I am now.

The second time I conceived we weren't trying, I was on contraception. One doctor said the ectopic was likely a side affect of the contraception I was on. Possibly a way to stop the pregnancy? Another doctor said she felt my contraception wasn't right for me.
The ectopic resulted in the loss of my right tube, I still have the right ovary.

My contraception was changed to the Mirena coil which was horrendous. I started getting cysts approx 4cm on my right ovary. In 2016 I had the coil removed, did a short spell on depo can came off it. Contraceptive free ever since.

Last year, I started to get pain at the time of ovulating on the right side, and after being admitted due to intense pain, a sonographer casually told me during my scan that I have PCOS. My Consultant and GP feel it's not an issue fertility wise, as my cycle is regular and I've got pregnant in the past. Should also mention weight the same.

It's so weird that I can get pregnant trying to prevent pregnancy by taking contraception and hardly having a sex life, and I can't when actively trying and not effecting my cycle with contraception.

Ever since my ectopic my fertility has been a concern. When I went today, I was already prepared about IVF requirements, I knew that I wouldn't be considered for it. I wasn't expecting that they may decline to investigate/diagnose any issues I may have in that area until my BMI is "right".

My GP whose special interest is family planning, is starting tests at primary care level, this involved swabs being taken down there(very dignified) and a full blood screening to be arranged the day I have my next period. They will check for everything there, pair it with my husbands sperm results and then said my case to a gynaecologist. I did repeatedly say, I'm not asking for IVF I know what I need to do for that. I just want to at this point, find out if there are any conditions/Damage or anything other than weight effecting my fertility. She agreed given my history and the length of time trying, that investigation should really be considered, but has known them refuse due to BMI.

Sorry for all the info. I feel like I'm a failure at this point. That past choices effect the present. I feel it's my right to ask for investigations, if they can then 100% say it's your weight after that and we can't help until you are at a certain weight, I will accept that.

buntingandstarcharts · 30/05/2018 16:56

@Jenstro20 I'm very interested in your story because I feel I may be in a similar position soon. I didn't realise that they won't even investigate if your bmi isn't in the normal range, I too thought it was only ivf. That must mean that pregnancy is hugely less likely if you are overweight? That's scary 😪😢 ..... off to the gym I go! Haha

Jenstro20 · 30/05/2018 14:06

Thanks @Frizzy1986 i expected the requirement to lose weight and have a healthy BMI for IVF, just not that it would be for investigative procedures. Such as checking if my tube is ok and my ovaries aren't too effected by PCOS. That to me shouldn't come with conditions.

Delilah7 · 30/05/2018 13:29

@Frizzy1986 cracked up at your last paragraph. I'm the same. I feel like when I sneeze I have to cross my legs. I haven't had a kid yet and am only 22!!! Can't be messing up on me now I go to the toilet so much. And it just feels different down there. I'm so obsessed lol xx

Frizzy1986 · 30/05/2018 13:22

tittifers I'm gonna hold out. All these on/off af symptoms just means I might as well. Saves wasting more tests. If she's not arrived by Saturday then I'll test again but I'm sure she'll arrive soon enough and that's fine.
Onwards and upwards right. It's all luck so it's not like I could've done anything about it.

delilah I came off my pill a long time ago but it only took a month to get into a regular cycle. It was quicker than when af started again after dd which was amusing. Took a while to get any routine back.
I'm sure it'll be in a routine soon enough.

jenstro sorry you've got such worries about health and the next option. I think I've heard of people who can begin treatment if they are making progress. I know it's rubbish, but they don't want you to waste an opportunity as I presume the success rate is lower for you at the moment and they just want to give you the best chance possible. Stay positive x

Off out for a Chinese tonight with work and I'm so excited as it will take my mind off it all.
Thought I saw some pink before but it wasn't at all 😔
My bladder is horrific at the moment too. What with trampolining at the weekend with dd and then sneezing quite a bit today, I think I need to do some pelvic floor work 😳

Jenstro20 · 30/05/2018 11:26

Thanks @Fredthespider I don't even want to consider IVF yet, I just want confirmation that my tube is ok. She agreed I should have it, but sometimes people get turned away based on current weight. I will have a look at that link, thanks.

It's weird that I can have an ectopic on contraception, at a heavier weight than this and without actively trying. Makes no sense

Fredthespider · 30/05/2018 11:22

@Jenstro20, I’m so sorry your weight might hold you back. Is it something you’re actively trying to change? I’ve heard of people being referred because they’ve been able to prove that they’re in the process of losing weight even if they’re not quite at the end goal yet.

There’s a thread on here atm which is about getting healthy for TTC, it might help to chat with others in the same situation. You’re definitely not alone! www.mumsnet.com/Talk/conception/3262561-anyone-want-to-join-me-in-a-get-healthy-for-ttc-thread Xx

Delilah7 · 30/05/2018 11:21

@Fredthespider thanks i agree with you just so hard. What if I don't get a normal period for ages. I don't necessarily wanna have to do OPKS all the time :( it's a lot of money to do all of that. Xx

Fredthespider · 30/05/2018 11:18

@Delilah7 if I’m honest I don’t think you ovulated when your app says you did. You won’t really be able to judge ovulation times off the back of a withdrawal bleed which is why they tend to say to wait until after your first true period as that would mean you’ve ovulated. At the moment all you really know is that you will ovulate at some point, but it could take weeks or even months for ovulation to start again once you come off the pill. If you’re DTD regularly you may catch your first ovulation but it would be chance rather than planning, however that makes judging when to test really hard.

So you’re not necessarily out, but you may have to just test regularly until you either get a positive or af arrives. Fingers crossed for you!

Jenstro20 · 30/05/2018 08:40

Doctor will refer me for investigations, but she said they could refuse to investigate based on my weight. She said she will put a strong case forward given my history. But certainly ivf route I'm a no chance in hell right now. Trying not to have a breakdown Sad

Delilah7 · 30/05/2018 08:38

@Fredthespider I love your advice but I was 11dpo when I took mine and got a negative so makes me think I'm defo not! :( xx

Fredthespider · 30/05/2018 08:35

I think it’s almost certainly too early @Jenstro20. Some will get a positive on a FRER at 9dpo but you’re better waiting until the weekend to test again. That way if you did ovulate on Wed then Saturday will be 10dpo and you have less chance of getting a false negative. I waited until I was 12dpo and I got a faint positive, so I’m almost certain I wouldn’t have got anything if I’d tested at 10dpo.

KimRobs87 · 30/05/2018 08:33

@Fredthespider - so good to see that isn't it! I did one last week lol.

@Jenstro20 - Yeah, implantation happens usually around 7-10 days after you've ovulated - good luck!

@TheTittifersHaveSungTheirSong - could get a 'vodka' lime and lemonade or something? Or a mocktale? Must be so hard to keep it low key!

@clairehr - fingers crossed!

Xx

Thanks lovelies. I think I'm possibly getting my wires crossed. If my ovulation test was positive on the Monday, that means that I could've actually ovulated between Monday and Wednesday, meaning I probably am too early? Thoughts? I'm with you on the vivid dreams, it's bloody weird.

TheTittifersHaveSungTheirSong · 30/05/2018 07:04

@Fredthespider 🎉 bet that's good seeing it in words!!
I'm still on holiday so have one frer left for confirmation, can't decide when to do it though! My sister is suspicious due to the sudden reduction in alcohol...she keeps offering prosecco and gin to test my reaction i reckon. So I pretended to drink a bottle of beer yesterday to throw her off the scent! (Threw majority of it down the sink then OH had the test!)

TheTittifersHaveSungTheirSong · 30/05/2018 07:00

@clairehr 🤞for you!
@Frizzy1986 yeah the men don't really understand the whole process really do they?! Are you going to test again or wait a few days to see if af rears her head?
