OPK, cm and ovulation help

I have short cycles of 25 days. Was on the pill until December but my cycle seems to have settled now.

First month I'm using OPKs. I'm cd8 today and read that I should start today. Barely there line, to be expected I think as I think my luteal phase is 11-12 days (guessing as not done temp or used OPK before)

But, I have ovulation cramps, had ewcm this morning and just been to the toilet and now have stretchy / watery cm (stretched about 1.5cm)

I'm going to start temping tomorrow (thermometer only arrived today). But what's going on? Am I gearing up to ovulate in the next couple of days or not?

I use ovia and it's predicting fertile week is next Monday but I feel like it's going to be sooner than that. Might explain why I've not had a sniff of a line these last few months! Help!

@Mistymeow 😂 It is hard to get your head around!

Mistymeow · 04/06/2018 18:03

Ah ok I'm expecting a temp dip before ovulation, thanks- very complicated. It's worse than Excel!

@VenusStarr I'm sure everything is fine, apparently it takes a few months to see a pattern. My temps were rising during my very fertile period, they took a dip today so I expect a rise tomorrow to confirm ovulation.

VenusStarr · 04/06/2018 10:37

My temperature is similar to after ovulation last month but I don't think I've ovulate yet. Unless cd8 was ovulation but I had negative opks them and no fertile cm. Just feel like something isn't right @Tulip7

I think the dip is a good sign @Mistymeow when you ovulate it should go back up

Tinker315b · 04/06/2018 10:35

Sometimes you can get pre ovulation dips so just sit tight and hopefully you see a rise in the next day!

Tulip7 · 04/06/2018 08:24

@VenusStarr What is it that's worrying you?

@Mistymeow Right back at ya! I'm new to all of this, and I find it all very confusing too. I'm on my 2nd cycle so I'm sure it'll all make sense to me soon. I just input my info in to the app and let that sort it all for me 😂🙈

Mistymeow · 04/06/2018 08:07

I think I'm similar. Confused by the temping. I had a positive opk yesterday, cramps. My app also says due to ovulate tomorrow but my temp dipped slightly yesterday and dipped quite a bit today. I find the temping quite confusing!

VenusStarr · 04/06/2018 07:53

Hi @Tulip7 I think so. They definitely did last month then had a small increase then a big jump. I've had a look at your chart, it's similar to mine last month.

Temping reassured me last month but Im worrying now :(

Tulip7 · 04/06/2018 07:39

@VenusStarr Are temps meant to decrease when you're due to ovulate? Last month I noticeably had CM, but this month nothing. And all negative OPK's thus far. My app says I'm due to ovulate Wednesday. 🤷‍♀️

Morning. Here's my chart, it looks weird. According to my app, I should be ovulating today. Do you think this cycle is annovulatary? Last month was quite textbook but this month my temps are just increasing... Worried something is wrong.

Hey @Tinker315b I've been getting quite painful cramps today and opks are getting darker. My temps are weird though, dip at day 8 and have been rising since. My apps say I'm due to ovulate tomorrow too, day 12. My dh is poorly though so we haven't dtd since Tuesday. Feeling a bit glum. Hope your bloods are more conclusive this time x

Good sign with the ewcm @Mistymeow :) fingers crossed

I had EWCM from cd7 (on cd9 now) but so far no positive opks. Steady temp rise. My app tells me I should O on cd 12. We shall see!

Tinker315b · 02/06/2018 19:10

@VenusStarr Ovulation sometimes changes by a few days so if your getting watery Cm now I would say ewcm isn’t too far away for you! Just keep testing so you don’t miss it, my fertile is next week ovulation usually CD15 which is next Friday for me. Then back to the doctors for repeat bloods and go from there x

VenusStarr · 02/06/2018 11:36

Hmm, not sure if I have a duff batch of opks or my cycle is still out but am cd10 and not even a faint line on the opk. Last cycle I had 2 definite lines on day 10, not quite positive but nearly and then they started fading. Also not got ewcm yet, it's a bit watery / creamy. Might work in our favour as DH is still sick so not been able to dtd.

How's everyone getting on? X

It wasn't sore @Tinker315b, but there were a couple that I could definitely feel going in, in my ankle and base of my skull. I wonder if that's where I might have blockages. She didn't say much about blockages or imbalances but I felt a bit lightheaded and couldn't think of any questions! But I'm going to jot a few things down to ask next time.

Glad you're enjoying the reflexology :) x

Tinker315b · 01/06/2018 14:06

Sounds interesting @VenusStarr was it sore at all? Was she able to tell of any imbalances? Yes I’m still going, I’m there on Tuesday coming for my second session then have booked another one for the week after. I actually loved it! X

VenusStarr · 01/06/2018 12:47

Not long got back to the office @Tinker315b I probably should've booked an appointment after work, I feel shattered! We had a quick chat about why I was there and gave a bit of history then jumped straight in. She specifically put the pins near my ovaries and said could I feel my ovaries? I couldnot so she tapped more and then I could feel something. Sounds stupid but my ovaries are not where I thought they were!! She put a heat lamp over my tummy and left me alone. Was quite relaxing. She then asked me to turn over and I had some in my kidneys, spleen and the base of my skull, that completely knocked me out! But not in a sleepy way. I felt like I couldn't feel my body like I was floating and it was very black, not in a scary way. Got another session a week on Wednesday. She's recommended 6 sessions.

Are you still doing your reflexology? X

OP posts:
Tinker315b · 01/06/2018 10:36

@VenusStarr Yea ive read about it too but i'll wait and see what these repeat bloods come back with! Oh let me know how you get on x

VenusStarr · 01/06/2018 10:29

Glad to hear your doctor is doing something @Tinker315b and taking things seriously. Hopefully it isn't something serious and is something that is relatively easy to resolve. There is progesterone cream that I've read about but it's probably better to wait until you gave your results and see what the doctor says.

Just waiting for my acupuncture appointment...

Tinker315b · 01/06/2018 09:19

So I had a telephone appointment with my doctor, I have to go for repeat bloods but have to go 3 days earlier than 7dpo this time. Doctor has agreed that 28.7 is not where she wants it to be, but she is almost sure im still ovulating and my progesterone levels are dropping too soon. She said she would rather do the bloods now before writing my letter for further investigation as that would hold time up if they weren't done before so! Just hope I get answers soon, but hoping its nothing serious with me Sad x

Tinker315b · 31/05/2018 20:52

No @VenusStarr going to ring tomorrow morning and see if I can get an appointment for tomorrow! X

Mistymeow · 31/05/2018 18:35

Thank you @Tulip7 x

@VenusStarr that's interesting. I've just started temping yes. Seems like quite a science! I hear you have to have 3 rises to confirm ovulation? Gosh, that's confusing. Well, they are steadily rising so I suppose that's a good sign.

VenusStarr · 31/05/2018 18:32

Your AF is similar to mine @Tulip7, they're definitely lighter than they were when I was younger.

Did you manage to speak to the doctor @Tinker315b?

@Mistymeow I think around the time you expect to be ovulating you can expect the line to get darker. But don't worry if it doesn't I've definitely seen on here that opks don't work for some people but they have still ovulated. Are you temping as well? (sorry if you've already said). Last month I missed my positive but my temps confirmed I did ovulate.

I've bought some pink grapefruit juice, they didn't have any other variety. Thought I might as well give it a try to see if I can see any difference with cm :)

OP posts:
Tulip7 · 31/05/2018 17:30

@VenusStarr it varies between 28-30, but AF doesn't hang around for long. Spotting on the first day and only lasted 3 days.

@Mistymeow I'm not so sure. I did 2 yesterday and one had a faint line, and the other later on nothing. I've read on here that a few people do 2/3 a day at different times. The line is meant to be as dark, or darker from my understanding. Sorry to hear about your miscarriage.

Mistymeow · 31/05/2018 14:25

@Tulip7 your opk looks like mine today. I'm not expecting anything as only on cd7 but I wanted to try it out.

With these sticks, when there is a faint line should I expect it to get stronger every day then when it's the same colour or stronger than the cover line that's when the surge is occurring? My main worry is not ovulating this cycle due to it being the first proper cycle since my miscarriage.

VenusStarr · 31/05/2018 13:56

Sorry @Tulip7! The surge is when your LH peaks so you get a positive when indicates you're about to ovulate. But your temperature changes can confirm ovulation. I still think it's worth dtd leading up to ovulation / positive opk so if you're up for it today I would. How long are your cycles?
