Anyone going for a third? Whats your age gap?

I have two dc, 20 months apart and age 4 and 6. I have been debating to have a third since my son was 12 months. Actually, I was talking about having a third while I was pushing him out :) The midwife said she never seen that before! Lol. But after having two dc, I realised it was a lot more work then I thought. However, it has been on my mind and whenever I was ready, my husband was not. And then when he finally was, I got cold feet. And now finally he has agreed again to try, so I think we will go for it. Am I crazy? My two dc are finally at a place where they are independent and it has gotten easy. However, I am worried if I do not go for it, I will regret it later. I am 35, so now is the time if we go for it. It is on my mind every day literally for the last year.

I had number three when the other two were 6 and 4. Like the OP we kept changing our mind for years. I’m so glad we did it in the end, I haven’t had one single moment of regret. It’s a great age gap and much easier to enjoy than the two year age gap I had before.

I just wish I could have a fourth but I had vaginal mesh inserted after an op two years ago and now everything I read is how vaginal mesh is a public health disaster and a further pregnancy could lead to a life of pain and a colostomy bag so I have to leave the dream of a fourth (bloody surgeon who bloody inserted it without my bloody consent).

Thanks for congrats @L1zz13 and good luck for no.4!

Great to hear no regrets Lovelyjubilly 👍🏻

L1zz13 · 27/04/2018 18:53

@MrsY87 yes lol eventually. I might give the acupuncture a go.
My period that I thought had finished keeps suddenly starting. Very random.
I don't know how this will affect this cycle. Will be ttc as soon as possible.

MrsY87 · 27/04/2018 14:18

@L1zz13 I had fertility acupuncture between DD and DD too as I also had a couple of mcs and really felt it helped. I have been thinking of going again even though we are only on cycle 2 as I find it really relaxing and am sure it helped me in other parts of my life, the woman who did it was almost like my therapist! My DH has agreed on a 3rd and we are ttc but he does occasionally say are we really doing the right thing but only ever after an awful night with our 7m old! But he knows they'll sleep eventually, thy will right!?! 🤦‍♀️

L1zz13 · 27/04/2018 07:55

Congratulations @applecatchers36
My three consists of two teens and 6 yr old. Never been a major challenge.
Definitely needed a bigger car and house tho.

applecatchers36 · 26/04/2018 21:37

Am currently in early stages of pregnancy with number 3, age gap between DC1& DC2 was 28 months they are 4 & 2, and all goes well will be 33 months between DC2 & DC3. Totally relate to wondering if we are crazy ...life was just starting to get easier, but we always talked about a third and didn't feel done. We ummed and ahhed but then just went for it, as it was now or never...gulp

L1zz13 · 26/04/2018 21:15

Thanks @MrsAmelia my husband sees a physio for a shoulder injury and he had some acupuncture last week. He suggested I go along and have a chat (not for fertility reasons). I'm fascinated by it all!

MrsAmelia · 26/04/2018 18:10

@L1zz13,
It’s about rebalancing the hormones and relaxing the female body and organs. I know there is more to it than that but don’t know all the technicalities. It’s very relaxing and I’ve not felt the needles before. I had recurring MMCs between my first and second daughters and didn’t know what to do. I’d had two MMCs prior to my first D.C. as well. So a friend who struggles with endometriosis and subsequently getting pregnant mentioned the benefits of fertility acupuncture. She had it four times a month for three cycles and fell pregnant - after trying for two years unsuccessfully and a surgical procedure to scrape her uteran wall. So, I tried it and two sessions after fell pregnant successfully. I don’t know with certainty that it’s the reason I fell pregnant but it certainly relaxed me and something shifted inside me that felt “balanced”. I’m seeing a woman named Zoe Lake in London. Check out her website and she explains a fair bit about it. Hope that helps somewhat. :-)

L1zz13 · 26/04/2018 14:45

What does fertility acupuncture do?

MrsAmelia · 26/04/2018 11:58

Oh Ladies ... you’re all making me smile 😊. Seems we are all in similar boats. My DH said he’d agree in principle but isn’t ready yet and that we should wait. He’s one of three himself. He doesn’t seem to understand the biological clock which “waits for no one” and my body doesn’t like being pregnant (pre eclampsia and severe edema during both). Some may find me dishonest (& I don’t disagree with that judgment entirely), but I’ve made the decision to begin the journey for baby #3. I’m not preventing is my method. And just for clarity the only reason my DH has doubts is because both of our DD were non sleepers (my one year old (today’s her 1st bday!!) is still a terrible sleeper). I keep reminding him that these moments will pass soon enough. I’m more pragmatic and I’m the sleep deprived one. 🤨
Anyway, I’m wishing all of you lots of baby dust and positive thoughts!!
PS first fertility acupuncture appointment on Saturday - need to rebalance my hormones.

Love practicing ❤️

HeartCurrent · 25/04/2018 20:05

That's it! I picture my family with 3 kids I have the names picked out, I keep getting this feeling in my stomach like I'm craving to be pregnant again, spoke to OH again after I posted and he said he's more than happy to start practicing, it's a scary but exciting feeling!! Grin

L1zz13 · 25/04/2018 18:35

My older two were 7 and 10 when my youngest now 6 came along.
My 10 yr old daughter was a brilliant extra pair of hands. Just like having an au pair.
It was a bit of a faff going to two schools and a horse with a new born but we managed. Must admit horse found a new home 😢
If we were late it wasn't the end of the world.

If I succeed with #4 I've now got two teenagers to babysit!

Justgimmeit · 25/04/2018 17:53

There is two and a half year between dc1 and dc2 and 3 and a half between dc2 and dc3. Imo the jump from 2 to 3 children is so much harder than 1 to 2. The age gap between the first and last born makes finding things to do to please everyone so much more difficult. I also had a school run, half day nursery run and a newborn to juggle which was really hard for a while

MrsY87 · 25/04/2018 17:49

@HeartCurrent I know exactly what you mean, DS is only 7m but I just know I'm not done. Whilst I was pregnant DH kept saying we would stop at 2 but here we are already ttc #3, he has said we will def be done at 3 though! Grin I think DH just realised how much having a 3rd means to me (I've always wanted 3) whereas he wasn't totally against it and wouldn't regret it if we do, iykwim?

Wingingit321 · 25/04/2018 17:23

On month 4 of ttc#3
Ds1 is 5, ds2 is 3.

lovelyjubilly · 25/04/2018 17:20

Op you are me a year ago!
I am 35 and I now have 3x dd.
7yo, 5yo and 4mo 🙂

No regrets AT ALL!

EverythingNow · 25/04/2018 17:18

@heartcurrent yep I definitely do. 3girls here, youngest is now 7! And dh only agreed to try last summer.

NoseringGirl · 25/04/2018 17:13

@HeartCurrent I know that feeling! My DH was on the fence at first too but is quite keen now. I just knew I wasn't done at two. He said he'll definitely be done at three Grin

HeartCurrent · 25/04/2018 16:54

I really want a third, OH is on the fence, I have an almost 5yo and 2yo. Both boys.
I don't know I just feel like I want another does anybody know that feeling?

L1zz13 · 25/04/2018 16:34

I wish I hadn't imposed a deadline. I'm hoping there's an unspoken agreement that the last three months don't count.

L1zz13 · 25/04/2018 16:32

Lol 😂 we'll just have keep everything crossed.

EverythingNow · 25/04/2018 16:27

@L1zz13 yes absolutely. I don’t feel 38, and a number of school friends are just having their first now but then my mum told me recently she finished the menopause at 46, which really doesn’t leave me much time.

I remember saying to her when we started trying last summer that we’d give it til Christmas - because of course I thought it would be instant. But when (understandably and realistically) that didn’t happen I keep telling myself just one more month of trying. I didn’t tell DH about the deadlines I ‘imposed’ on myself because it took sooooo long to convince him that I didn’t want him to change his mind!

L1zz13 · 25/04/2018 12:46

@EverythingNow I bet your like me. Convinced we're too old but still realising plenty of people of our age have babies.
I'd so love to experience it all over again. Taking my time to take pleasure in everything.
My 1st AF has just finished after the mc so I'm waiting see how this cycle pans out all whilst ttc. Not sure if my hubbo is still keen. I daren't even ask him. We were only going to give it three months to try.

whatty · 25/04/2018 12:39

Can I join too? Another ancient mum of 2 and TTC #3. I will be 39 in a few months, and my DS is 5.5 and my DD is 3. Have been trying for 4 months, and no luck yet. Am wondering if my ship has sailed and we should be happy with 2. But I can't think of anything else but having another baby at the mo. It's so difficult, as I fell pregnant easily with the first 2.
