Thanks @Aph413 all this ttc crap is like a part time job lol i get up take temps put them on app drink my raspberry leaf tea pee on an opk get on with my day. Then its back to take vits iron etc wash it down with oj pee on an opk few hrs later pee on an opk its soo repititive. Not to mention I now have to set a stupidly early alarm even on my day off so I can take my temps more accurately. Really pissing me off at the min😠

Just keep going with it all and it should start to show you. Clearblue says test 17 days before your shortest period. I also definitely recommend testing 2 or 3 times a day once you get close to when you think you'll ovulate. That's the only way I caught mine.

thisisouryrfx18 · 24/04/2018 18:27

@Aph413 yh mine is a baby mad one too it says lo im an idiot haha im on cd10 but i just dont know when im due to ovulate ive not been taking temps long enough for the app to know and with me having a 42day cycle normally but last one being 32or 33 its threw off my estimation lol im still peeing on opks everyday still not had a positive 1but it is early on my cycle. Fx for u looks like ur in with a gd chance this month.

thisisouryr If the thermometer says lo it doesn't mean low battery it means its ready to read. If it says low then thats the battery. What make is yours? Mine was just a cheap babymad one from amazon and it was pretty good.

I'm currently cd42 and finally 3dpo. We did 4 days in a row over my fertile window so I'm actually a little hopeful. As long as I did in fact ovulate when the opk said I did.
Where are you at now?

thisisouryrfx18 · 24/04/2018 15:51

@FlapJackered yh different temperature everytime think the thermometers shit why is nuthing simple😠 just bought it and its saying low already must mean the battery gonna send the company a cheeky email telling them I want my money back..neway how are all of yous getting on what cds are yous on?

@Aph413 Good thinking!

@thisisouryrfx18 - I know! If only they knew! I would be happy if mine even got slightly shorter. Each cycle it seems to lengthen by 10 days.
Have you tried calibrating your thermometer? Just do 3 readings back to back to check they are coming out pretty much the same. It should tell you how reliable your thermometer is.

Aph413 · 24/04/2018 09:52

thisisouryr I do vaginal temps. More accurate although mine are still all over the place. Don't change this cycle though, I switched mid cycle and messed up my charting

thisisouryrfx18 · 24/04/2018 09:45

@FlapJackered its soo frustrating people with a 28day cycle dnt know how gd they have it! Ive been trying to temp past few days but my temps seem to b all over the place either my thermometer is crap or al need to start doing it vaginally (tmi)thats what apps suggesting. What do yous think?

OP posts:
Aph413 · 24/04/2018 09:42

@FlapJackered it's hard but I'd wait for a new cycle before trying anything new. Its the approach I'm taking just incase

FlapJackered · 24/04/2018 08:54

urghh I am on day 48. I hate these long cycles! I don't know whether to try and mess around with it with Agnus Castus/B6 etc as Natural Cycles says I am Ovulating and I don't want to mess that up. Confused

This article talks of research showing soy is safe during ttc and also mentions it helps offset the effect of BPA's

The other article I found was this that mentions possible negative effects on male fertility but mainly mentions avoiding soy as a nursing mother.

I found the section in this paper on interactions with hormones interesting

Enough research for one night Grin not the easiest on my phone.

Aph413 · 23/04/2018 23:36

This has taken me a little while and I may be falsely understanding it This study is where I got my info, more specifically this:
Soy isoflavones are heterocyclic phenols with structural similarity to estradiol-17beta and selective estrogen receptor modulators.
And the idea of it helping fertility comes from the fact that clomid is a selective estrogen receptor modulator itself.
I don't understand the exact science of it all and I haven't yet looked up any studies on dietary soya but I'll get back to you if I find anything.

flyingplum · 23/04/2018 22:38

Thanks @Aph413 - I've definitely heard it advocates to counter the effects of falling oestrogen in menopause, but I'm more unsure about in TTC. I'd be keen to know mainly because I've been avoiding soya, but I'm not a massive fan of oat milk in my tea and I miss my tofu 😂

hey everyone can I join? trying to ttc #2 but #1 with my dp. I'm 25
came off the pill December had a bleed for 2 days February 11th. went to the docs last Tuesday who did bloods so find out results in a few days time.
sods law I started bleeding Friday afternoon. my other half is hopeful that this will be a good cycle as I started soy isoflavones on cd3.

we had an MC last January so we're more than ready for it to happen now!
haven't told anyone so would be lovely for the support.

hope you're all ok 💐

Aph413 · 23/04/2018 11:54

flyingplum I've only seen the ttc boards with "evidence" of it working. The scientific studies I've found seem to focus on it as treatment for the menopause. I'll find some links on them and come back to you.

thisisouryr I use fertility friend too. Just put in your average and it'll work it out for you the more data you put in. Like I said before you can go back and put past periods in too and it'll give you an average itself

thisisouryrfx18 · 23/04/2018 11:50

@flyingplum well im no expert tbh just going by success stories ive been told online there are some interesting articles on it but i dnt know how to attach links tech really isnt my thing lol google an article called soy isoflavones for dummies it explains when and how to take it. As i said it does say do not take if you ovulate it will mess up your cycle dont take more than 200mgs a day and dnt take it longer than 5days and it must b at the beginning of your cycle. Suppose ppl try anything when theyr desperate i chickened out of taking this cycle because it can mess up ur cycle and im a bit cautious messing about with hormones because i thought about the risk of cancers etc.

OP posts:
flyingplum · 23/04/2018 11:35

I should add...maybe I just don't understand it enough in the first place!

flyingplum · 23/04/2018 11:30

@thisisouryrfx18 - do you have a link anywhere? Not trying to be argumentative, just curious. I've heard the soy isoflavone thing mentioned before, but can't find anything to back up other than threads on various TTC boards. Assume it must come from somewhere, but it contradicts a lot of what I had learnt about my PCOS over the years (pre-TTC), so I just wondered what the science behind it was. I thought high levels of estrogen where one of the causes of long/anovulatory cycles in PCOS because it causes lots of follicles to develop (the poly cycles of the PC) without enough progesterone, and this is the cause of the increased risk of endometrial cancer Etc etc.

Then again, they don't really understand Pcos and there are different types, and things seem to change all the time, so maybe I'm just out of date?

thisisouryrfx18 · 23/04/2018 10:33

@Aph413 fertility friend what 1 do u use?

OP posts:
Aph413 · 23/04/2018 10:18

Thank you flyingplum my knowledge of soy supplements admittedly only comes from limited reading so you probably know more than me.
thisisouryr I put 28 days and then let the app work it out as I logged my periods. If you've been tracking them already you could add them in and it'll figure your average for you. What app are you using?

thisisouryrfx18 · 23/04/2018 09:25

Do any if you ladies use fertility apps its asking me for my cycle length its normally 42days but last cyvle was down to 33days is it better to put average or your last cycle?Confused

OP posts:
thisisouryrfx18 · 23/04/2018 08:54

@flyingplum the soy is supposed to help mature your eggs but you only take it at the beginning of your cycle your supposed to avoid soy after ovulation

OP posts:
flyingplum · 23/04/2018 07:28

Dammit, pressed send too soon. But my understanding was that long cycles are often (though not always) caused by high levels of estrogen which stops ovulation, so I don't know how a phytoestrogen is supposed to help? Apologies if I've misunderstood this - I can't find an explanation of why it's supposed to help.

flyingplum · 23/04/2018 07:23

Isoflavones is just the word for the chemical group that includes the phytoestrogens in soyabeans. I imagine the supplements are more concentrated than if you just eat tofu or eat soyabeans, but I don't think they are chemically different. I guess it depends why your cycle is irregular as to whether it helps, so possibly I was being a bit flippant.
