Testing at 9dpo/ 10dpo

Is testing at 9/10 dpo really too early? This is the stage i am at, tested twice...both bfns, once today once yesterday.

I remember with dd i was at least 4 days before af when i got my bfp so i am feeling pretty much out..when i had high hopes this month.

Countdown to pregnancy site says 47% bfp by 9dpo and 66% by 10dpo.

Im feeling some symptoms but duno if im over spotting. Had tiny tinge of brown discharge today when i wiped, af due in four days.

I tested at 8dpo & 11 dpo - bfn ...
Then it was my mother's birthday and I had lots to drink as I considered myself out.
But then 1 day before AF I got my BFP with all my 3 tests.
Felt guilty for drinking...
So you are only out once AF arrives!!

Glera · 16/04/2018 09:31

@lp17
That is one dedicated husband you have there hiding all the tests!
Good luck with the temp testing, how long have you been TTC? Maybe I should get involved too As you should do it for a couple of months shouldn’t you?

@lookingforadvice15 spotting is a positive sign is it not? Especially if that’s not normal for you. How are you feeling?

I got another bfn this morning. Really on the fence, have had bad back ache for a while now but up towards the middle and top of my back. Normally I get backache the day before AF and right at the bottom. But I guess it could just be my body still settling after being on the pill for so long. 🤞 it’s not over until the fat lady sings.

Thinking of you all.

LP17 · 15/04/2018 22:03

@LookingForAdvice15 how many DPO are you?
I haven't started temping yet thermometer should be arriving tomorrow and have downloaded an app today all ready for whenever AF decides to properly show her face.

I have literally zero will power but DH has thought ahead and taken all of the pregnancy tests out of the house and locked them in his car Grin I could go and buy one but I'm just worried it'll show me a BFN...

Lookingforadvice15 · 15/04/2018 16:15

And also well done on the will power holding out til wed to test! Im gona try holding out next month...if i can lol

Hi @LP17 thanks for joining. I have also had brown spotting since Friday which after it not coming to anything thought ib, so the test today was my last ditch at bfp but no joy.

How have u been doing with temping? I have never tried temping as up until 4 weeks ago my dd was still coming into my room during the night and i wasnt getting a proper sleep. Maybe i should start? 🤔

OP posts:
LP17 · 15/04/2018 15:26

@LookingForAdvice sounds like we're due AF a similar time - I have had unusually sore boobs for a week and spotting since Thursday which I initially suspected was IB (at first pink but now brown) but because it's carried on it must just be the long, drawn out start of AF. I'm due on Wednesday so will POAS at that point but fairly sure my little Christmas baby isn't coming. I had my coil removed in December and started officially trying in January. Cycles have varied between 27 - 29 days so have decided to use temping instead of OPK to get a better handle on what's going on.

Lookingforadvice15 · 15/04/2018 15:06

Hey all.

I am now either 12/13 dpo today. Stupidly decided to buy more tests and test again today...BFN, as predicted...the line appeared in a very weird place on the test.

Anyway i am officially ruling myself out for this month. Im sure the witch will be here either tomorrow or tues ☹

Hi Glera I’m 10dpo, I tested yesterday and got a bfn. Decided not to waste another test today. Had backache this morning and some cramps so am worried af is on its way. Obviously keep say dreaming that I am pregnant....the wait is so hard

Glera · 15/04/2018 13:38

Happy Sunday everyone.

How is everyone getting on? I did a test this morning and it was a bfn. To be fair, I’m on 11dpo so could Still be too early.

Lookingforadvice15 · 14/04/2018 20:48

@mumof3cheeky thank you :) feel like im tying myself in knots with the whole things now.

@LostMyBaubles brilliant. Congrats on your bfp. I actually had enough will power not to buy more tests today. But i might tomorrow even though i still think im out this month x

OP posts:
Mumof3cheeky · 14/04/2018 20:09

and it think if you are using OPK you can roughly work out when you are ovulating hence then you can work out how many days after that you get your period and that amount of days is what your luteal phase!

Mumof3cheeky · 14/04/2018 20:05

Sorry i didn’t explain it very well. If you google luteal phase that will tell you all about it and I think using OPK is perfect to work out when you are ovulating. I was just saying don’t rely on your calendar as to when you might be ovulating this month as the days counted from your period to the next ovulation can completely vary however the days from your ovulation to the next period is what you call luteal phase and it is supposed to be more or less the same number. I think they say as long as it’s between 10-16 days it should be long enough to produce a healthy pregnancy as oppose to if it’s too short your period starts before the pregnancy had a chance to stick. As I said Google will explain this for you a lot clearer than I can Smile good luck xx

LostMyBaubles · 14/04/2018 19:56

Ps im now 19 weeks

LostMyBaubles · 14/04/2018 19:56

I tested every day, sometimes 2/3 a day (cheap i.c) stupid yes i
know.

Even more stupid because nothing was picked up until the night before af was due and even then it was so faint I didnt believe it.. that night couldnt sleep and did another 1 around 2/3am and the line was darker (day af was due)

Lookingforadvice15 · 14/04/2018 19:53

@mumof3cheeky sorry maybe its the wine or just me but i dont really understand your last post.
How would you know how many days between ovulation and your next period? I only use opk as a starting point and also watch for cramps and cm but i dont temp so i dont know for sure.

@glera & @polkadotjersey i have been pregnant twice first was a mmc and second was my dd and i didnt have sore boobs at all..EVER. Didnt even gain a cup size which i was disappointed about 😂.

OP posts:
Mumof3cheeky · 14/04/2018 19:23

Sorry awful spelling. The days from your last period to ovulation can vary but the day from ovulation to the next period should stay the same!

Mumof3cheeky · 14/04/2018 19:20

Regards to ovulation they say the time from the day to he day of ovulation can vary but the LP literal phase which is the time from ovulation to your next period is the one that’s always supposed to be same so don’t base did ing on what day cd day you ovulated the previous month! Good luck!

Lookingforadvice15 · 14/04/2018 19:12

@glera haha agree, the thread is just chilled :)

I was the same with my cycles it was 28, 30, then 32 i thought it this just going to keep going and going. But since my opk was positive on the same date this month i think i will settle on 32 days, hopefully!

Its so confusing when you first come off the pill. I dont you about you but my emotions have been all over the place. I also broke out in spots on my back and chest, making me think that my hormones are up and down. Not sure if that would effect ttc? 🤔

OP posts:
Glera · 14/04/2018 18:58

@lookingforadvice15

It does sound like it’s more settled for you. I hope it is anyway. Tempting just confuses me for now, again, I’ll maybe try it if we’re not pregnant after 6 months of trying.

I always suspected I ovulated around day 17 when I had 28 day cycles.
When I came off the pill I had a 28, 27 and 28 cycle then last month I had a 34 day cycle. That completely threw me off and I thought I was pregnant. Currently on day 32 and think I ovulated on day 23 so feel 34 will be normal for me.

As for a glass of wine, sounds perfect. My other half is at the football today so I may treat myself. Have to say, really enjoying this thread. It isn’t overloaded with people and I can follow what everyone is saying more easily.

Lookingforadvice15 · 14/04/2018 18:51

I have managed to find my peak each month using opks. I use ic.s until i find my peak then confirm using cb digital.

Dec was cd14 (tricked me thinking my body was back to normal coming straight off the pill)
Jan cd16, Feb cd18 and in March there also cd18. So im hoping that my body is now back to normal and has settled at day 18. I dont temp and think it would make me too stressed.

I am sitting chilling now with a glass of wine. Happy saturday ladies 😊

OP posts:
Glera · 14/04/2018 18:19

@polkadotjersey
I agree with the added stress using the OPKs, perhaps if we continue waiting for a positive I’ll start to use them a lot more carefully.

So many people talk about sore breasts and I’ve not felt anything which makes me feel this month isn’t our month. I hope all works out for you.

Good luck 🤞

polkadotjersey · 14/04/2018 14:55

I half-heartedly used OPKs but didn't get a positive result (think I was testing too early) and gave up. I think they can add to the stress. I use Natural Cycles which is good. It uses temping to predict ovulation so you can time DTD.

I've had sore breasts since Monday and had some cramping on Wednesday but feeling okay now.

Glera · 14/04/2018 14:19

@lookingforadvice15 Haven’t been temping. I did start using the clear blue ovulation tests but always seemed to run out before I got the Still face and was too much of a cheapskate to buy a new box...just incase we were lucky.

How about you? How are you feeling now?
I’ve had no pre-AF cramps this month yet but terrible backache. Not sure if that’s just normal for my cycle now it’s settled down post pill or not.

How are all you other ladies feeling?

Lookingforadvice15 · 14/04/2018 13:03

@Glera we really are in the same boat by the sounds of it. Is this your first child? Are you using opk or temping at all?

OP posts:
Glera · 14/04/2018 12:34

@lookingforadvice15
We’re in the same boat - I’ve been off the pill since Dec but I don’t think my cycle returned to normal until the Feb/March cycle. It will happen for us...I’m due on Tuesday/Weds I think. Perhaps we can keep each other updated?

I found the first months the hardest because I put so much pressure on myself. I read so many messages about people who became pregnant straight away or even on the pill and I thought why couldn’t I be one of those women? I feel this month I’m perhaps most chilled because I feel like I’m at least getting more of a grip on my cycle moving forwards.

We get told all our lives it’s so easy to get pregnant and to be so careful and then when you do want to become pregnant, it’s so difficult.
