Hey! Just looking for some experience! Has anyone actually been pregnant and took a while to show positive on a hpt? I have a few symptoms and in general feel like I could be! My AF would've been due between last Thursday and yesterday but took a hpt last Wednesday and yesterday and both show negative :( I'm using Superdrug's cheap make. I'm NEVER late for AF so feeling positive. Almost every post I've read seems that everyone tests positive before their AF is due so feeling a bit disappointed at the moment! Sad

purpleRH the most frustrating thing ever! Lol. Nothing stressful at all, probably the least stressed I've been for months which is why I'm so confused hahaConfused

IM in the exact same boat!!! Have all the signs but bfn....I think I’ve been testing too early!!! Good luck everyone Grin

Kate - it must be so frustrating!! Have you had any major stress this month which could have delayed ovulation perhaps?

Slightlyperturbedowlagain · 03/04/2018 17:15

My understanding is it varies enormously between individual women due to cycle length and therefore actual day of conception. BhCG levels double every day or two for the first few weeks so levels increase quickly. Also obviously the amount of fluid you consume will affect dilution too.

Slightlyperturbedowlagain, that's reassuring to hear that!Smile thank you!

purpleRH, Superdrug tests are meant to be 10mIu but having read the reviews on Superdrug website, I'm not convinced lol!

Just a thought - can you request a beta HCG blood test from the Nurse / GP? Should help you confirm it either way.

Slightlyperturbedowlagain · 03/04/2018 16:57

(And that was with first morning urine, which is the most naturally concentrated)

Slightlyperturbedowlagain · 03/04/2018 16:56

It was 5 days after the due day for my longest cycle before I got a positive test. Hope you get the answer you want!

Hi OP,

Do you know how sensitive in terms of HCG concentration the Superdrug tests are? The only time I've been pregnant I did a CB normal then a CB digital the day after - both were positive. I was about 5 days late by the time of the first test so I'm not sure how early it would have shown had I done it the day of missed period?

Tink2007 · 03/04/2018 16:53

I’m currently 13 days late - multiple tests, all different brands (including superdrug as both times with my DDs it came up straight away) and all negative.

I just want my period now - somethingi have never thought I would say!

ImNotWhoYouThinkIam · 03/04/2018 16:48

I've been wondering the same thing.
AF is now 8-9 days late. Had 3 negative tests at the weekend (Morrison's and sainsburys cheapy). Feeling sick in mornings and afternoon if Idon't eat (exactly like I had with dc 1 and 2). Boobs are so sensitive!
If I'm not pregnant what is it?

SoozC · 02/04/2018 19:15

It is possible to be pregnant but have a negative hpt, however it isn't common.
I would try a frer - pink dye tests are more reliable and a frer should give you a pretty good idea (worth spending money and not just getting the cheapest test, especially if they're blue dye).
There is a chance that you either ovulated later or are having an anovulatory cycle, which would throw off your usual period date.
