Thread 6... 😑

A safe place for those of you who have been trying to conceive for 6+ months and even yams aren’t helping. Come and have a good ol’ bitch and a moan without judgement. Please read the rules before posting!

The Yam Commandments are as follows;

  • Thou shalt not arrive one day and post BFP next day
  • Thou shalt not give advice to others when TTC for one month only
  • Thou shalt not participate in one-up-manship and realise TTC is shit for everyone in different ways
  • Thou shall allow posters to be fucked off with the world and everything in it at regular points in the month
  • Thou shalt not be offended by strong language
  • Thou shalt not tell everyone to eat yams
  • Thou shall accept being called a muppet for testing at 7dpo at 9pm at night

And most importantly...

  • Thou shalt not symptom spot during the two week wait and must be prepared for a telling off if you do so.

NEW RULE ALERT!

-Thou shalt not post pictures of positive pregnancy tests. We will be delighted to hear about it but no photos, please and thank you

@bubblegum89 I used to love that game! Could spend hours creating the perfect version of myself etc. :-)

I think I'm due to start my fourth month of accupuncture (depending on if FP shows up tomorrow). I wouldn't say mine is relaxing.. not like reflexology is! But I get to offload which is good as she's a very good listener!

Bubblegum89 · 09/04/2018 18:40

My guilty pleasure is playing on The Sims (yes, I’m nearly 29 years old lol) but I was bored in the holidays and so I made my family on it. Me, my OH and my DD. First thing the Sim me did was start reading a pregnancy book. I literally can’t escape it

Thanks June - it is, and we're only at the beginning really compared to so many of you ladies on here but I really appreciate the support/space to vent.

Yes, I had day 3 and day 21 bloods done at 9 months TTC in December as they did them early - I have a genetic condition that will affect 50% of my pregnancies so if/when I do get pregnant we'll have that to deal with, so the GP was happy to do initial tests early. Day 3 showed no issues, Day 21 indicated I wasn't ovulating but could well have been done on the wrong day as my cycles were still a bit haywire.

Got an appointment for the end of the month so imagine they'll want to repeat them then. Going to ask for a referral back to the genetic counsellor we saw before trying too as I think talking some things through with her might help (not to conceive, but just help in general). Has anyone on here had genetic counselling? Did you find it helpful or just overwhelming?

Feeling hugely emotional today and keep running to the loo because i get that "feeling" that FP is about to arrive. It is due today or tomorrow (depending on which app i look at.)

I am getting close to going.. you know what.. screw it.. lets just have IVF. but I CANT! because im still too bloody FAT FOR IT! :(

Just want to re-start today.

MynameisJune · 09/04/2018 14:44

@lexie I know the feeling, I returned from Mat leave last January and I’ve hated it ever since but have been holding on for my 2nd Mat leave but that’s just not happening and now the work is getting worse and more stressful that I’m sure it’s making TTC even more difficult.

@miserable so sorry fp arrived, long term TTC is utterly shit and heartbreaking. Have you been to the GP about initial tests?

Miserablemouse · 09/04/2018 14:23

Another lurker here hoping it might be okay for me to join?
Been off the pill since last March. Thought it would be okay with "let's just have regular sex and see what happens" as I am youngish (26) but no joy. "Proper" trying since August.
Best friend now heavily pregnant with very easily conceived baby and close relative (cautious of outing myself) announced pregnancy to us yesterday - conceived on their first month of "let's see what happens".

Had a horrendous week for non-TTC reasons and am now having to go back to work and think about all the baby shower decs I have agreed to make for said friend, even though I hate baby showers on principle (why would you celebrate a baby that hasn't safely arrived yet?). Also my FP turned up while we were on the minibreak I booked after getting fed up with people telling us "just to go away and relax", so I needed neither the sexy underwear nor the pregnancy tests I had packed.

I am so happy for both of them and can't wait to cuddle and spoil their babies, but I'm also sad and angry. It has only been a year which I know isn't that long in the grand scheme of things but it's getting harder all the time and I'd love some advice on how on earth to keep going and ignore the nonsense people start spouting at you!

Sorry for the long post and thanks in advance for letting me join.

Bubblegum89 · 09/04/2018 14:03

Sparkwood I had a HyCoSy in Feb. It was totally fine in my opinion. Bit crampy and uncomfortable but not too bad. You can’t have sex before having it done but you are fine to have sex afterwards.

Thanks for the acupuncture feedback everyone. It's quite pricey but I think it may be worth a try!

LexieJean · 09/04/2018 12:52

@LG I’m on the acupuncture bandwagon. Not convinced it will help me get upduffed, am going into month 3 of treatments but I echo what @ronswans said- it’s great for relaxing and the whole TTC thing. Mine is great to talk to and trying to calm me down. I go every week.

@june I’m also switching jobs! I postponed doing so because I might be pg but as that hasn’t happened in nearly 2 years I’ve decided I need to have some control and positivity in my life. Being miserable at work all week can’t be good for TTC either and as my company only pays statutory I’ve nothing to lose!

@spark I had an HSG and they won’t carry it out if you’ve had unprotected sex at any point in your cycle. You have to have the whole cycle off- use condoms. It’s very strange after so long trying!

SparkwoodAnd21 · 09/04/2018 11:35

Those that have had a HyCoSy - is it really awful? The letter says to bring someone to drive me home, is that just so I don’t drive or will I be ok on the bus? It also says no unprotected sex in the cycle, but does it just mean before the procedure or for the entire cycle?

Paranormalbouquet · 09/04/2018 11:21

I fell off the wagon during my holiday week and have spent the weekend practicing for masterchef. My imaginary appearance, not an actual contestant!

LookingAtTheStars89 · 09/04/2018 10:46

@Chooklass. I'm glad I'm not the only one! I fell of the wagon a bit over the weekend Sad which I now feel very guilty about!

Chooklass · 09/04/2018 10:15

Urgh. 10dpo again. Over-analysing my body again. So fed up with it all today. On the plus side, my spotting started later than usual this cycle and has been lighter (so far) so maybe the new low sugar diet is working a bit. (Totally fell off wagon at Easter though!- I blame my Aunt for banging on about my biological clock and 'was I aware that the longer I wait the more problems there could be?' FFS). Heartened to see a few successes on this thread recently!

Paranormalbouquet · 09/04/2018 09:24

@Teachermummy83 welcome! I’m currently on enforced break after miscarriage 3 while awaiting surgery and am going a little mad with frustration. DD was conceived around 30 minutes after deciding to try so I’m finding this long haul to no 2 very very hard.

Paranormalbouquet · 09/04/2018 09:22

@MynameisJune sorry to hear FP arrived. I’ve also been looking into new jobs, more stress!

@SoozC glad you’ve had a temp spike and can relax a bit for a few days!

I think my sleep deprivation might be affecting my temps- first month doing them and temp is still going up at what I think is 7dpo. I thought it normally bobbed up and down? Thought it good to temp when not trying as can see my usual pattern. Nipples still burning, worst part of PMT for me and gets worse after each pregnancy/miscarriage.

Acupuncture is certainly not harmful and is relaxing so no harm giving it a go.

Less than a month til my surgery now. Started cooking and freezing meals in preparation.

SoozC · 09/04/2018 07:53

TEMP SPIKE TODAY! Grin

June, I changed jobs last year too, lost all my enhanced maternity pay benefits I'd stored up. But it looks like I'll have time to build them all up again now (I admit while I was preggers I was worrying a little about money, as I'm the breadwinner, but now I can accrue some better benefits - not that it makes up for not having the baby). Go for it and good luck!

Cariad2017 · 09/04/2018 07:36

Sorry to hear FP arrived Mynameis. It’s so unbelievably unfair. Good luck with the interview. I have no regrets whatsoever about moving jobs whilst ttc last year, although hopefully (unlike me) you will get that elusive sticky BFP very very soon.

ronswansonstache · 08/04/2018 21:12

LG I've been doing acupuncture since the new year. I'm usually very sceptical about alternative medicines but I find it beneficial for my mental health at least, which I've found has really suffered from unsuccessful TTC. I certainly wouldn't recommend it over any conventional medicine but as my infertility is 'unexplained' there's no harm in giving it a go!

There have been some minor improvements to my cycle - I had my first 28 day cycle in about 8 months during the second month of acupuncture and this month no spotting at all until FP arrived. Still not unduffed though unfortunately!

Teachermummy83 · 08/04/2018 20:32

Would anyone mind if I joined?
Been trying for a while, in fact April will be a year since we began.
We recently had to stop our efforts for a couple of months as DH had to have a circumcision, a bit frustrating for us both but had to be done. He’s now feeling better so it’s back to business and hopefully we’ll have more luck now. Fingers crossed for everyone else too xx

MynameisJune · 08/04/2018 20:27

Think I’m going to try acupuncture this month as well.

So bloody hormontional, had a cry to myself as DH is away again.

Going away in 7 weeks time and when we booked it at Christmas I really thought I’d be pregnant by then.

WonkyDonk87 · 08/04/2018 20:21

I'm booked in for my first four sessions, starting in a few weeks. My colleague has also been having it and although not upduffed yet, has been singing its praises for stress relief.

SoozC · 08/04/2018 20:20

Every week for the first month and now every other week, with one of those sessions just before expected ov.

LG93 · 08/04/2018 20:19

That's interesting @sooz - how often to you have treatments?

SoozC · 08/04/2018 20:16

I'm in my third month of acupuncture. Think there's at least one other Yammer who's trying it and a couple who've been thinking about it.
