TTC #2 - March BFPs

If you’re ttc #2 and due your AF/ BFP in March then this is the bus for you.

For my sins, I’m a bit of a veteran of the ttc circuit, and ironically if we get a BFP this month, my EDD is likely to be DS’s 3rd Birthday. Stats are as follows:

Age: 35
Cycle: 18 (without a hint of a BFP - yawn)
AF due: 15 March
DS: Aged 2

Desperately hoping to invoke the law of sod this month as we have a fertility clinic appointment on 26 March to get the ball rolling on IVF. You have no idea how much I’d love to cancel it!

Fifi Oh boo, I suspected that might be the case! We were in hospital for 6 days last time and I just started going slightly mad with the heat! Ugh Funky yes I bet that memory is vivid!

Twittle excuse my ignorance, but what does PROM stand for? We had an induction at 41+5 then emergency C-section at 41+6 - definitely no home birth for us in future! I don't even want to try for a VBAC. Would have loved to have had a water birth with low lighting and no drugs, but evidently I am not built for it!

Second that's annoying for you. Hope you get it sorted next time round. My GP said the best way to get pregnant is to just have sex every 2-3 days while you're not on your period, but honestly, who has time to do that when they've already got a child?!!?!?!?!

I’m out unfortunately! I’ve just realised I miscalculated my ovulation. Anyway I wish you all so much luck. See some (but hopefully none!) of you on the April bus.

My DD was born in August and all I can remember of that morning was the silence in the room after she had gone to sleep all but for the 3 fans that were going full blast because of the absolute blistering heat. That will be 11 years ago this August. 😞

BadBadBeans hopefully it was still enough to get you a BFP! Also completely understand the hot hospital, I had a July baby last time round too and it was a bloody heat wave. Although will skidding around on ice whilst heavily pregnant be any better haha

Fififiesta hi there and also argh no not hot hospital even in winter!

I am tempted by a home birth... Although with preterm PROM last time round not sure how likely that will be

AF due sometime around 12-13th I think, she's an inconsiderate visitor who is often early or late or unnaccounced!

This is Cycle #2 for us

I had a winter baby before, hate to burst your bubble Bad but it was BOILING in hospital even though it was icy cold outside!

Cariad - hilarious that you nearly got caught by your BIL. Nightmare!

Funky thank you; I had used Ovia (briefly) when we were last TTC, but back then I had a massive and carefully-kept history of all my periods, which I was able to back-fill. This time I can't even quite remember which day of the week my last period started. Symptomatic of having a toddler?! I've relogged in to my account anyway. If I start getting more scientific about ovulation then I'll get a fertility friend account too - thank you for the recommendation.

I'm not sure we have dtd enough to be in this month. Managed it twice toward the end of my fertile period according to Ovia, and once the day before the fertile period. Not feeling mad hopeful about it. We shall see. I've got a week until my period is due, so I'll only take a test if it's late.

We didn't expect #2 to be difficult considering #1 was a happy surprise.

Although must admit bit unsure about prospect of having Xmas baby! Already have too many birthdays in Dec/Jan In my family!

There's a first time for everything, so here goes:

Age 35
Cycle #3
AF due on 22nd March
DS 18 months

Who knew TTC#2 would be so difficult and thought consuming? After using the calendar method as birth control before DS, now I'm using the calendar method in the opposite way and have scheduled 7 days of DTD in the calendar next week... not very romantic, but let's hope it works!

Thank you. It's really hard ttc for ages and never getting any luck. I'm 4/5 days late for my period so it's frustrating waiting for it to arrive so I can start the next cycle and try again.

I thought spotting had finished as nothing yesterday and here it is again after dtd last night.. on cd14 and day 2 of my fw but no idea what's going on. Gah!

I agree with lopey, your positive attitude is really inspiring paranormal xxx

@Badbadbeans just thought it worth a mention i got preggars in december using fertility friend, i was temping, checking cm and cervix position. Its a good app but i started by using Ovia before this which some swear by, I found it a little unreliable as it kept changing my ovulation dates. I don't know about others as i've only ever used those 2. Xxx

Thanks everyone, I jump between being desperate to try again immediately and wanting a break! Think I was so focused on getting through the physical side, and felt so awful with infection/anaemia that now I’m feeling physically stronger it’s all really hitting me. I’m surrounded by pregnant people at work, including one who shares my due date- delighted for her, it’s been a hard road for her to get this far- but still feels like a punch whenever I see her!

I have been referred to RMC clinic but there’s a fairly long wait and the investigations are usually normal. We know I have adhesions which is likely the cause of the very early ones at least, but the surgery for those is often unsuccessful and this last embryo implanted away from them so was probably just bad luck. Part of me thinks I should just keep going and cross my fingers that the next one will stick; other sensible part says I should focus on losing the weight I’ve gained during all this and get the surgery done and wait a few months.

Who knew having number 2 could be so much harder than number 1!

Anyway that’s the end of the moping from me! I am absolutely focused on eating well and exercising from here on in, have only just had a negative test so don’t expect to ovulate for a while which gives me time to think!

@Cariad2017 I’ve often had people to stay in my tiny house (meaning DD sleeps in our room) or been staying with family when TTC and it’s a nightmare! Sounds like you got home in time at least. Every month I’ve managed to conceive it’s when we’ve got in a few days before ovulation- that’s when I have the most CM and the highest sex drive too so I definitely think it’s my most fertile time at least.

AF due 12th March
Day one after ovulation (according to my app)
DS 18 months

I was very lucky with DS as I became pregnant after 3 months and didn't bother with tracking just went for it and it worked but this time I'm being more conscious of my body and tracking everything. Came off the pill in late November and I've had three regular periods since so I think I'm back to a regular cycle. Have to admit it's all quite overwhelming with monitoring ovulation and fertile windows etc and I think I've gotten a bit confused as yesterday I convinced myself I was having implantation bleeding as we DTD Thursday during my fertile window however I now realise it was ovulation bleeding (very light pink when wiping) and that if you do have implantation bleeding it's after ovulation 🤦🏻‍♀️ so gave it one last go last night and now the wait begins (think we've missed this window though)

Paranormal - just to add that although recurrent loss sounds petrifying (and it no doubt is), I know lots of people who have been successfully treated for it and have ended up having no issues with subsequent pregnancies, so sh*y though it is to end up in that camp (and having experienced pregnancy loss myself, I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy), a referral could mean that you avoid facing this again.

Sorry you’re having such a tough time Paranormal - I’m so so sorry to see you back here. Have you been referred for repeat miscarriages? If so, I’d be tempted to ask for their advice on the cervix op, assuming the referral comes through quickly. Here to hand hold.

Sorry you’re still in limbo Funky. There really are no words for how shty pregnancy loss can be.

Waves back at fellow long-timer CatRen. CD11 at this end (expecting to ov around CD13/14) and we finally managed to dtd last night (we tried on CD10 whilst staying at BIL’s but it all went horribly wrong when BIL came knocking at the glass door to our room half way through - thankfully I think the bed was just out of his line of sight so I think we got away with it! Unsurprisingly though, the appearance of his brother half way through totally put DH off, so we had to suspend proceedings until yesterday! 😂)

@paranormal that’s understandable, with early losses I think you’ve barely got chance to absorb being pregnant before it’s gone again. I know that’s how I felt last year. Maybe now isn’t the best time to make huge decisions. I know it probably won’t seem like it but being referred for recurrent miscarriages at least means you’ll get some specialist help if you need it. And I hear you on the age gap, still struggling with that myself!

@MynameisJune I’m just a bit of a mess at the moment I think. This miscarriage was much harder physically and emotionally than the others. And am finding the realisation that miscarriage 3 puts me in the recurrent loss category tough. The main point of the surgery is to reduce the risk of second trimester loss or prematurity but at the moment I can’t even get to 12 weeks- this would make first trimester loss management more difficult. So who knows what the right thing is!

Either way will have a much bigger gap than I ever envisaged.
