TTC #2 - March BFPs

Cariad2017 · 23/02/2018 19:54

If you’re ttc #2 and due your AF/ BFP in March then this is the bus for you.

For my sins, I’m a bit of a veteran of the ttc circuit, and ironically if we get a BFP this month, my EDD is likely to be DS’s 3rd Birthday. Stats are as follows:

Age: 35
Cycle: 18 (without a hint of a BFP - yawn)
AF due: 15 March
DS: Aged 2

Desperately hoping to invoke the law of sod this month as we have a fertility clinic appointment on 26 March to get the ball rolling on IVF. You have no idea how much I’d love to cancel it!

@Secondtimelucky1980 I’ve been referred to RMC clinic so am just waiting to see now. I suspect it will be something like that- trying anticlotting drugs/steroids. I have lower uterine adhesions though so most likely thing is they caused the 2 at 5-6weeks whereas this latest one implanted high and away from them so possibly just bad genetic luck. I’m booked in for procedure to try remove adhesions but there’s not a very good chance of success so I’m in 2 minds about it. Part of me just thinks I should keep going and hope a good embryo eventually implants high, but the more sensible part of me says to wait for the clinic.

@Peanut1980 hope all goes well with the doctor. I know lots of success stories in my personal life too which always gives hope.

I’m feeling more positive now. Trying not to panic about my age and waiting to try again- taking it a month at a time, have arranged a second opinion with another gynaecologist over Easter and will make up my mind for sure then.

Same here with PCOS mayago which was why it was such a shock with #1. How long do we TTC before we should see a doctor if we have known PCOS and struggling to conceive?

mayago · 07/03/2018 12:31

BadBadBeans FRERs are £6 for a two pack in ASDA! And there's a pound voucher in them as a consolation prize if you need them again the following month

TwittleBee it's harder fitting everything in with number 2, isn't it! Fingers crossed you find a good opportunity.

Last time around I came off the pill in January, and we were pregnant in April! I'd like to think I've learned more about how conception happens since then, but who knows.

I've struggled with PCOS, and was expecting years of trying last time around, so I've probably been a bit spoiled it happened so quickly...Hmm

TwittleBee · 07/03/2018 11:33

Fififiesta completely with you on the worried about jinxing it and feeling guilty. I find it tough to talk to my friends about it as they all really struggled to get their #1 and we didn't even have to try so feel as though I am being selfish.

mayago Hi there! Good luck to you too. fingers crossed.

Bambamber I really hope you get a lovely surprise and if you do take a test its a BFP

I am CD12 so getting close to ovulation but no chance of DTD last night and doubt we will tonight either as OH gets back so late.

BadBadBeans · 07/03/2018 10:48

Some lovely stories on that thread Peanut - thanks for sharing.

Bamb what does your partner think about the surgery? Good luck with the test if you do it.

Fifi oh yes, a crystal ball would be so helpful, and not just for baby making either! I also know what you mean about the luck thing... I feel like I used all mine up getting pregnant immediately with DS1 and him being so generally delicious!

Good luck Maya; quiet optimism is exciting!

Bobo, have a read of the thread that Peanut posted. You're not alone, and there is lots of hope.

I couldn't find any FRERs in Morrison's this morning so I have a couple of blue line cheapies. I remember having to really search for a FRER last time as well. Annoying!

Boboelephant · 06/03/2018 22:03

So sorry for everyone feeling down. It's such a hard road isn't it!? I feel like in my real life no-one can really relate to my journey with ttc #2. I set my hopes so high each month that I'm petrified of how far they can fall if I keep being disappointed. I worry that my optimism has to run out at some point. It's so tough.
Sorry @slippy that you got your af. @funky maybe you should call the doc about your bleeding?
Good luck to those testing soon @Badbeans and @fifi and @bambamber
Hope the doc gives you some answers @Peanut.

mayago · 06/03/2018 22:01

Hi ladies! Joining in this month with some very quiet optimism!

Age: 36
Cycle: 2
AF due: 19 March
DD: 14 months

I think we caught fertile week. We've been away the past few days, and our timing is usually pretty poor. Hello, TWW. I've not missed you!

Hoping it's a positive month for us all Smile

Fififiesta · 06/03/2018 21:44

Sorry to hear that a lot of you are having a rough time at the moment. It's so hard to stay positive when you don't know what the future holds. Like if someone said to me that it will take me two years of trying to get pregnant but when I do it will be fine, I'd be cool with it but its the waiting and the hoping and worrying...

I also feel guilty every time I think about having #2 because I feel so lucky to have a healthy #1 I know it's silly but feel like I might jinx it!

I'm tired today but hope you all had a good day, fingers crossed for anyone testing tomorrow, AF is due sometime in the next 5-7 days for me and I feel perfectly normal not sure if that is a good or bad sign!

Bambamber · 06/03/2018 21:23

It's heartbreaking to see what a tough time some of the ladies on here are going through Flowers

If I did actually ovulate after my most recent OPK then I would be about 10dpo tomorrow. But I've been getting positive OPKs every 2 weeks for the past 5 months so I'm not holding my breath. Tempted to test tomorrow to get the inevitable BFN done and out the way. Getting to the point that I may just take a break for now and get my referral for surgery and take the risk.

Peanut1980 · 06/03/2018 21:19

Thanks @badbadbeans. Oh who blimin knows what’s going on. I’ve fallen out with my body right now! We’re not talking 🙊

Just found this thread with some positive stories on ttc for over a year. Might help anyone also looking for some inspiration/hope www.babycenter.ca/thread/1468933/success-stories-after-ttc-naturally-for-over-a-year?startIndex=10

BadBadBeans · 06/03/2018 21:14

Oh Peanut cross-posted. So sorry to hear you've got extra worries on top of TTC. I hope the GP is helpful tomorrow. Good idea about googling positive stories. Best of luck xx

BadBadBeans · 06/03/2018 21:13

Oh no slippy, really sorry to hear that. I was so hoping that you'd get a BFP. I can see why you would want to avoid a Christmas-time birthday. It's difficult, isn't it? If we got a BFP next month it would mean that I would in all likelihood have to miss an important family event in December...

Second I'm due to test at the end of this week. AF is due Thurs/Fri and I did say I would wait till Saturday to test, BUT I am now going away for the weekend with a lot of friends and if I don't drink it will definitely be noticed. So assuming AF doesn't arrive, I may test with a FRER on Friday morning so that I know whether or not I can have a drink that night.

That said, I had a very similar situation when we were TTC our first, and I did a test the morning before I went away and it was negative. Had a couple of drinks while I was away and felt absolutely terrible. Came home, fished the test out of the bin just to reconfirm for myself it was negative... and it was positive! Then had to save up my wee all afternoon so that I could take another one to be sure! So this time round, even if I get a negative I won't be drinking much, just in case!

Peanut1980 · 06/03/2018 21:10

@slippynips don’t give up. I’ve been trying for 13 cycles. Had an early miscarriage in August. Age isn’t on my side. I’m 38 in May. I had a month off last month but back on it this month. Due to ovulate this week. I don’t know what’s going on with my body at the moment. I’m now bleeding after sex for some reason which is now just another thing to worry about. I have a Drs appointment tomorrow. Feel like screaming into a pillow right now.

I’m going to google some long term ttc success stories as I need some motivation right now xx

Secondtimelucky1980 · 06/03/2018 20:48

Hi everyone

Even though I think I have missed ovulation for this month I am still lurking to see how you are all getting on. Lots of very brave and tough women on here, I admire you all

Slippynips I am so sorry Af showed up. Could you just keep trying and let fate decide what happens?

para I am so pleased you got your BFN. I remember that feeling very well. It's a strange relief isn't it? I don't know your full story so forgive me if this isn't helpful but I had four MCs before I had my son and I was referred to a consultant who put me on steroids, progesterone and a blood thinning drug from the day I got my BFP and that pregnancy stuck and my son is one next week. The consultant said they couldn't find anything wrong with me so put me on the drugs as a safety net. Could you look into that or do you know there is something causing the MCs?

I am v sorry for those of you who've had BFNs.

Who is the next to test? Wishing you lots of luck!

xx

LopeyLopez · 06/03/2018 20:47

Oh so sorry you got af slippy. I was really rooting for you, hoping for some good news. TTC can be really miserable but thank goodness we have each other for support. Big hugs, take care xxx

slippynips · 06/03/2018 15:31

Got pregnant in October, not April

slippynips · 06/03/2018 15:30

So I came on my period yesterday. So annoying. We are taking a break for a month or 2 now. Our sons birthday is 28th December and with Christmas too we can’t really afford another December/January birthday! Feeling a bit fed up with TTC now. Began trying for #2 in June. I got pregnant in April and miscarriage in December. This will be month 9. I also know now that I won’t have another baby in 2018 which is sad too :( oh well, just having a hormonal day.

BadBadBeans · 06/03/2018 10:33

slippy that sounds rather promising... I'm now desperate to know whether you've tested yet?!

Fifi I know what you mean about the cleaning and tidying, and yet our house is still generally a tip. I think I need to get more of a weekly routine going so that I have cleaning days and not-cleaning days - so that I don't feel like I'm constantly cleaning but not actually getting anywhere! And to be perfectly honest I've not properly cleaned the bathrooms since New Year (not something to admit on Mumsnet I know!).

Lopey just going to echo everyone else - being positive generally doesn't mean that you're not allowed to have a cry and feel bad from time to time too! I think that's healthy, actually. Hugs to you.

Funky sorry the bleeding is still going on. That's horrid. Paranormal I'm glad that you've had a negative - at least that is a step in the right direction, even if you are having to use condoms for now. Fingers crossed you can start trying again really soon.

I'm still not feeling pregnant at all, just full of cold. Not feeling period-y though, either!

Paranormalbouquet · 06/03/2018 06:39

@Funkyemzie did you have confirmation that the miscarriage is complete? I had 5 weeks in total of bleeding, but had retained products and infection for a lot of that time- had ERPC after almost 4 weeks. Had tried to avoid but had nasty infection at that point.

Have you had a negative test yet? I would contact your epu at this point.

TwittleBee · 06/03/2018 06:30

badbeans fifi bobo fountain and catren good luck to you all! Hope you all get testing soon with BFPs!

Funkyemzie how strange! And annoying as March is out for you! Fingers crossed it stops soon. Maybe get checked out if it does keep going for a while

Paranormalbouquet sorry to read how long it's taken. I hope that your investigations and treatments start soon so you can get off the condoms and hopefully get a BFP leading to a successful birth soon

I'm on CD 12 today so I am going to start with the OPK. CM started again yesterday so reckon it's gotta be soon. We DTD last night too.

Paranormalbouquet · 05/03/2018 23:19

@lopey sorry to hear about BFN; it’s ok to be sad and mope a bit at times!

I’ve had my final scan in EPU last Friday and finally seem to have a clear uterus and negative hcg- so strange to hope for a negative! 6 weeks and 2 days from US picking up MMC to finally getting negative scan and blood hcg, who knew they could drag on so long! Bought condoms on the way home as am waiting on investigations and treatment. Felt my usual ovulation signs already over weekend which oddly got me really down- the thought of not trying when ovulating despite being desperate for another baby was really upsetting for some reason.

Oddly enough the doctor in the EPU saying “at least you can get pregnant” was uncomforting when I’ve proved I can’t stay pregnant!

Obviously that lead to a downward spiral of comfort eating so now I’m twice as miserable. Going to gym st lunchtime tomorrow and back on mfp for sure!

So here I am, 1dpo, not a hope of having conceived as used said condoms but still keen to see some good stories here to cheer me up!

Fififiesta · 05/03/2018 21:45

Lopey even if you have an overall positive attitude everyone has up days and down days, we are all human. Desperately wanting a baby is difficult and you are allowed a good sob, ideally followed by Brew and Cake (the healthy eating kind Hmm)

LopeyLopez · 05/03/2018 18:12

Lol, I feel like a fraud now after everyone praising me for my positive attitude....! I do try to be positive....but it is forced; I still feel incredibly shit!

I was still in bed crying at 4pm in the afternoon yesterday as OH took DS out for a walk.... I still feel numb and scared to contemplate a future without another baby, sad as that is....

I know there's no point in wallowing though...got to carry on. The healthy eating is making me feel a bit better...a bit less tired, and my skin looks better, I think....?!?!?!??

Good luck slippy, sounds very promising...🤞

CatRen27 · 04/03/2018 22:47

And omg slippy id also be testing already - fx for your bfp. And sorry to hear of your mc i hope you're looking after yourself Flowers

CatRen27 · 04/03/2018 22:44

Whoops i meant cariad in my pp, not mynameis (but hi though!)
