Thread five!

A safe place for those of you who have been trying to conceive for 6+ months and even yams aren’t helping. Come and have a good ol’ bitch and a moan without judgement.

The Yam Commandments are as follows;

  • Thou shalt not arrive one day and post BFP next day
  • Thou shalt not give advice to others when TTC for one month only
  • Thou shalt not participate in one-up-manship and realise TTC is shit for everyone in different ways
  • Thou shall allow posters to be fucked off with the world and everything in it at regular points in the month
  • Thou shalt not be offended by strong language
  • Thou shalt not tell everyone to eat yams
  • Thou shall accept being called a muppet for testing at 7dpo at 9pm at night

And most importantly...

  • Thou shalt not symptom spot during the two week wait and must be prepared for a telling off if you do so.

Lexie I'm astounded that you can be 'too old' for IVF at 36. It's just another way of rationing the service I suppose - there is still a decent success rate at that age. My CCG has ceased all funding for IVF, so it's private or nothing for me. Still holding out some hope of it happening naturally although I'm on cycle 23 and feel about to give up.

Keeping everything crossed for you Milk

SoozC · 12/02/2018 12:27

Fingers crossed, Milk!

Nausea this morning - had a cheeky McDonald's breakfast and then took a coffee to drink on the way home; felt nauseous drinking it which is unlike me (I have a McDonald's coffee most mornings, I'm a caffeine addict!). Also felt nauseous last night after dtd, again, unlike me. Now lying on sofa feeling some twinges and odd lower ab feeling.

Someone help me not to get my hopes up?!

@fairy I wish they’d consider the big ticking body clock when making us wait 12months unsuccessfully before even starting investigations!

@milk fingers crossed for you!

bama4 · 12/02/2018 11:40

Hoping it's good news for you @Milknosugar1

Si1ver · 12/02/2018 10:04

Fingers crossed @Milk

Remember that you could have ovulated late, or drunk more water last night.

catherine1988 · 12/02/2018 09:16

Having a bad day and feeling blue, af arrived and I'm into cycle 19. I don't think I'll ever be a mother

On the plus side, as the nhs have taken 8 months to do a set of bloods and a hycosy I'm paying to go private for some other testing. This way I might at least get some answers or at least advice.

DoAsDreamersDo · 12/02/2018 09:01

Ooh Milk i really hope that this is it for you x

Bubblegum89 · 12/02/2018 08:08

Fingers crossed for you milk

MynameisJune · 12/02/2018 07:58

Oh @milk I really hope this is a sticky bean for you. I didn’t have dark lines with DD at all, I was 4 days late when I tested and the line wasn’t as dark as the control line. Big hugs xx

WonkyDonk87 · 12/02/2018 07:55

Milk there's so many variables that there's no way of predicting at this stage. Be gentle with yourself and stay away from the tests for a day or two xxx

FairyAnn · 12/02/2018 07:31

I feel the same LexieJean, I'm 36 in September and we're only just getting tests done now because we had to try for 12 months with no luck before they would start them.

Stark White bfn this morning at 13 or 14dpo, only tested because I’ve got my smear test booked tomorrow. Oh well onto the next cycle.

Milk I’ve been using my mooncup for 4 months and it’s not changed my flow

LexieJean · 11/02/2018 22:15

@si1ver my concern is I’m 36 in August so by the time we get referred on the NHS I’ll be heading too close to ‘too old’. Can’t win.

@milk my flow is quite light so first day there’s not a lot in my mooncup. I have been told in the past that the average woman only loses half an egg cup of blood so it looks like more in a panty liner than in a cup.

BiscayTrafalgarFitzroy · 11/02/2018 22:07

@Milknosugar1 I've been using a Diva cup for 2 years and it's never changed my flow. They do hold a lot more than a pad or tampon but definitely fills up enough to tip it out after a few hours.

Thanks @BiscayTrafalgarFitzroy I will get some zinc for him to try! We just want to try our very hardest for the bfp! Too many baby bombs happening at the moment making it seem so much more unfair for us all on this thread 😢

MynameisJune · 11/02/2018 20:50

@milk 😂😂😂😂

@si1ver it’s rubbish that fertility treatment on the NHS is such a postcode lottery. Good luck with the IVF!

@LexieJean yes unexplained primary. NHS won't help us because at 37 I'm too old in my PCT. At 36 I was too old because the waiting list was so long there was no point putting me on it. In June we'll have been trying for two years, with one miscarriage and one chemical pregnancy to our names. We can't wait any longer.

If you want details on the clinic (abroad) we've picked let me know.

LexieJean · 11/02/2018 19:09

@si1ver I’m just researching my options to see if any is an option financially for us. The consultant said the only other thing they could offer us while we wait for NHS IVF is IUI (insemination) but as that’s £1000 I don’t feel it’s worth it as we’ve been dtd so I’d rather put that £1K towards private IVF. Remind me are you ‘unexplained’ too?

Si1ver · 11/02/2018 18:54

Hello my loves. Adore the new title.

I just emailed a fertility clinic about private IVF.

MynameisJune · 11/02/2018 17:18

@limp sorry you’re still in limbo, I’m still keeping everything crossed for you.

@biscay I’ve got DH some conception for men vitamins. Not sure if they have zinc in or not. Or if they work! But worth a try. Your temp dip isn’t below the cover line so still hope.

I’m expecting af tomorrow, I’m hot and restless at night which is a pre-af symptom for me.

BiscayTrafalgarFitzroy · 11/02/2018 16:41

I also cut out alcohol last month and it made no difference.
