Thread five!

A safe place for those of you who have been trying to conceive for 6+ months and even yams aren’t helping. Come and have a good ol’ bitch and a moan without judgement.

The Yam Commandments are as follows;

  • Thou shalt not arrive one day and post BFP next day
  • Thou shalt not give advice to others when TTC for one month only
  • Thou shalt not participate in one-up-manship and realise TTC is shit for everyone in different ways
  • Thou shall allow posters to be fucked off with the world and everything in it at regular points in the month
  • Thou shalt not be offended by strong language
  • Thou shalt not tell everyone to eat yams
  • Thou shall accept being called a muppet for testing at 7dpo at 9pm at night

And most importantly...

  • Thou shalt not symptom spot during the two week wait and must be prepared for a telling off if you do so.

Agh! Xposted - hadn't fully loaded and I thought the thread had been quiet since this afternoon -soz

WonkyDonk87 · 15/02/2018 19:11

@catherine1988 Only just Home and caught up. How are you feeling about it? Is your DH ok?

I've fully started AF now. Was stupidly symptom spotting the last three days but my hopeful IB has gone full force (although still pretty pathetic by AF standards). Have had to work very hard not to break down in tears at work most of the day. Crushed and angry.

MynameisJune · 15/02/2018 19:05

ICSI is only the way the egg is fertilised, the rest of the process is the same as a normal IVF cycle and as far as I’ve read this is available on the NHS.

'Papa Don't Preach' on the radio. sigh

@mynameisjune we would meet the criteria for everything

catherine1988 · 15/02/2018 18:42

@mynameisjune we only found out this afternoon. I should get two IVF rounds but I don't know about icis. I should get refered by gyn next month to fertility services. It was a private clinic I went to today for a fertility checkup and that's why the antibodies were tested. The NHS only does this when you get to the fertility clinic. His sperm count is 6 times what is needed and mobility is double this wasn't picked up. Could have been any trauma or infection pre puberty.

MynameisJune · 15/02/2018 18:20

@catherine have you looked at any clinics abroad for cheaper treatment? Although if you don’t have any DC’s between you then you should at least get one round on the NHS depending on your area and as long as you meet the criteria health wise etc. But if you’re self funding it might be cheaper abroad or even further out the city if you are in the London area. We are up North and treatment is cheaper here than down south.

2 baby bombs this evening. One not too bad, she already told me she was pregnant a while back before announcing on Facebook today. It’s her fourth baby but she was ttc for 4 years with no luck then got pregnant the cycle after having a HyCoSy. The second is a girl who got pregnant after only being with her boyfriend for a month and he hadn’t even met her other kids yet...

catherine1988 · 15/02/2018 17:59

It will be the most expensive icis £6500 a go, we should be able to get some NHS treatment. My husband looked so sad he had to go back to work after our appointment. Just so upset

MynameisJune · 15/02/2018 17:53

@catherine sorry for the bad news . Hope you’re okay.

@sooz sorry for the spotting, I know how you feel. 5 months ago I got a bfp on my birthday we were so bloody happy. And now, every month I just feel useless because my body won’t do what so many women’s does easily.

Bubblegum89 · 15/02/2018 17:39

Oh sooz how shit. I’ve just been the toilet and no spotting but got that telltale heavy feeling in my uterus. I’m not too fussed as I knew I couldn’t be pregnant though. I’m so sorry you’re feeling upset :( I hope that it’s your turn again really really soon ❤️

LexieJean · 15/02/2018 17:30

@catherine that sounds like crappy news. Hopefully they’ve isolated the issue now though and can help and guide you both through ivf. 🤞 for you.

Sorry to hear that @sooz It’s totally crap 💐

SoozC · 15/02/2018 17:24

Fuck. Just had some spotting. Fucking hell. Why can't I just get some luck for a change? I'm far more upset than I thought I would be. I just wish my body would work how it's supposed to, you know? 4 months ago I was the happiest person in the world and here I am, in tears again. Fuck.

Sorry to hear it, Catherine.

I just did a test. I know, I know, really stupid of me. I'm not sure what I was expecting. I'm such a dick.

Bad news on the fertility front. Husband has loads of mobile sperm however they have antibodies meaning 95% stick to each other. The first test done by the NHS did not test for this. We can keep trying but we have been recommended ivf

MynameisJune · 15/02/2018 14:45

@lexie I convinced DH it was cheaper in the long run that £20-£30 a month on clearblue sticks 😂 I’ve also been taking Maca root since CD1.

SoozC · 15/02/2018 14:32

I am now feeling a bit ill and shaky. Preggers or due to the rest of last night's Domino's pizza I ate for lunch?!

LexieJean · 15/02/2018 14:28

@june I just got sucked into the nice advert for Ava bracelet. Then I saw the price. poas for me it is. And I’ve ordered some Maca powder 🤞🤦‍♀️

MynameisJune · 15/02/2018 13:50

@lexie we need a sex schedule due to DH’s working away a lot! Not very romantic or inspiring but needs must. Although this month I’m not doing any temping or charting and I’m just going with the every other day for a good 2 weeks or so if we can manage it. We’ve tried every other way so why not give this way a go! I’m also contemplating an Ava bracelet I think if it doesn’t happen this cycle.

bama4 · 15/02/2018 13:12

Sending everyone Thanks and hugs it's so horrible how down everyone is feeling Sad
Also waiting for AF to stop to get this cycle on the go properly. Feeling surprisingly positive, my thermometer arrived yesterday so I'm planning on temping this month and also 30 ic opks which I'm also planning to do properly for the first time. Hoping I ovulate extra early or late and I've been missing it so far (unlikely - I know!) but really getting dp more involved this cycle in everything (so he knows why I get so stressed and upset) and also got him some zinc.....fx

LexieJean · 15/02/2018 12:58

@june af pretty much gone here too so time to start planning my next fw. Nothing like a sex rota to spice things up!

catherine1988 · 15/02/2018 12:40

Thank you @mynameisjune

MynameisJune · 15/02/2018 12:34

@catherine definitely take the fertility treatment, we hid our head in the sand for various reasons and partly I wish we hadn’t due to issues now and not having time on our side anymore. we’d l been trying for 6 years without a single bfp or even late period. The chances of natural conception were tiny. Just try to remember that there is always a chance 🤗

catherine1988 · 15/02/2018 12:23

@mynameisjune The GP told us that the chances of a natural conception are low due to the length of time trying and the chance of mc due to age are ever increasing. So to manage our expectations and to take all fertility treatment that is offered. I really hope you are right but at this point I'm not hopeful

MynameisJune · 15/02/2018 11:00

@catherine I’m sorry you’re feeling rubbish. I was like you, in my 20’s both of us healthy but it just wasn’t happening. Had never had a bfp and was sure i wouldn’t ever have one and then 6 months after I turned 30 bang bfp, only thing we did differently was move house so stopped thinking about it and only dtd 3 times that whole month. It took a lot of years and I know that’s not what you want to hear, but it did happen and I’m sure it will happen for you too.

@bubble hope the hyCoSy helps kick start decent periods for you! And that in turn helps you get a bfp!

@sooz keeping everything crossed for you 😊

Af has pretty much left now so I’m not feeling too bad as is usual for this stage in my cycle 😂
