Thread five!

A safe place for those of you who have been trying to conceive for 6+ months and even yams aren’t helping. Come and have a good ol’ bitch and a moan without judgement.

The Yam Commandments are as follows;

  • Thou shalt not arrive one day and post BFP next day
  • Thou shalt not give advice to others when TTC for one month only
  • Thou shalt not participate in one-up-manship and realise TTC is shit for everyone in different ways
  • Thou shall allow posters to be fucked off with the world and everything in it at regular points in the month
  • Thou shalt not be offended by strong language
  • Thou shalt not tell everyone to eat yams
  • Thou shall accept being called a muppet for testing at 7dpo at 9pm at night

And most importantly...

  • Thou shalt not symptom spot during the two week wait and must be prepared for a telling off if you do so.

Hi @Lexi, yeah - we were referred after dp’s poor sa results. Only been waiting 2 months to hear - feeling a bit impatient now but should prob just get used to waiting I guess!

LexieJean · 22/02/2018 16:35

@chooklass that’s frustrating. Remind me- you’ve been referred to FC/ACU and waiting for appointment to come through? Is there anyone you can chase up for info/idea of waiting time?

LexieJean · 22/02/2018 16:33

That’s really positive @catherine 👍 Even the vague plan me and OH have feels good- taking back some control.

catherine1988 · 22/02/2018 15:29

@chooklass @lexiejean the Nuffield said we had really good chances of IVF working, now I just wanna get there. I know I haven't got a bfp but now I feel like there was a reason it didn't work all those month and there is a plan

Chooklass · 22/02/2018 12:12

That all sounds stressful @catherine but positive in the end at least!

I had a massive teary whinge to dp this morning about how we’ll never be parents. All got on top of me. AF due tomorrow and got cramps last night so poas to put myself out of misery (so I could have wine!), bfn of course. I just wish we had more info about dp’s sperm so I could know for sure whether to keep getting my hopes up or not. Still no word about fertility appt - even having a date (even if ages away) would help have something to aim for. Grumble, grumble 😂

LexieJean · 22/02/2018 11:38

What a palaver @catherine! I hope you’re feeling ok now? Sounds positive Re ivf at least, 🤞not a huge wait for you and your appointment with the acu helps.

catherine1988 · 22/02/2018 10:33

So after the "sperm are coated in antibodies" drama last week. I went to see gp for an early referral for assisted conception. Phoned appointments this morning for an idea of the waiting list and was told referral hadn't been done. I was like I was in the doctors office when she put it though on Monday. Phoned assisted conception and was told it was 6-8 months for an initial appointment and the same again for IVF, but to call another number for more details. Phoned other number and spoke to lovely lady who told me my appointment next month which I thought was a gyne appointment is an assisted conception appointment. So in theory we could get our first round of IVF by the end of the year.

I have gone all the emotions in the past 10 minutes. So hopeful IVF will work but while we are waiting we will keep trying for a miracle baby.

I agree with soozc regarding bpf, I have only ever seen positive pregnancy tests on here. That's right the only bfp I have seen are on a infertility group on mumsnet fml

Ah thanks @SoozC ! Welcome @Catscakeandchocolate - as sooz has said you seem like a yammer already!

SoozC · 21/02/2018 22:32

Ah, Cake, you sound like a Yammer already! Grin

I love a moan Sooz and a lot of angry words have flowed over the last 14 months everytime AF arrives. To make it more galling i barely looked at DH and fell pregnant with DD yet despite pissing on more sticks than i can count we have nothing to show for it. The universe has a twisted sense of humour

SoozC · 21/02/2018 20:56

I had a twinge in my uterus earlier and thought "better log that" before I realised I'm only cd4 and the chance of being pregnant is 0%! FFS, I'm symptom spotting already and I'm not even in the tww. Roll on two weeks time...!

Hi Cats, welcome to our moany thread! We are lovely, but most are currently going through a tricky patch so apologies if we come across as negative, we can be silly and upbeat too! Feel free to be either or both :)

Hi cats, welcome!

ronswansonstache · 21/02/2018 20:04

Thanks Sooz I don't think this tempting stuff is for me really although I'll see it out to the end of the cycle. All I do is wake up at 5am worrying about temping at the right time then tossing and turning, which probably affects my BBT.

It won't hurt to dtd tonight although I've not had much cm since Monday so I feel like that was the peak day. It's DP's lucky night! He'll be delighted 😀

DoAsDreamersDo · 21/02/2018 19:48

Welcome Cats sorry that you’re here, but join us with our long list of crazy symptoms that seem to change each month!

DoAsDreamersDo · 21/02/2018 19:46

I’m guessing it’s probably not ❄️

Catscakeandchocolate · 21/02/2018 19:46

Can i join. Ttc for 15 cycles. Af or bfp due on the 26th. Have all sorts of weird symptoms but been down this road before. Think this is our last month and then we are out. DH and i have decided to accept DD will be an only child if this fails. (Unless i cave next month and keep believing a miracle might happen)

SoozC · 21/02/2018 19:44

As long as your uterus is warm, Dreamer...

DoAsDreamersDo · 21/02/2018 19:43

I’m usually low 36’s or high 35’s. I didn’t realise this could be a problem 😲 I need heating up too!!

SoozC · 21/02/2018 19:13

Oh, and don't worry about low temps - I'm someone who hardly ever gets over 37 degrees, I usually hang around the low 36s! Although I haven't successfully been pregnant, so maybe do worry as perhaps that's a reason! (Joking! I'm sure it's fine!)

OP posts:
SoozC · 21/02/2018 19:10

Yeah, Bama, I reckon you'll ov soon. Keep going!

Ron, I am thinking you haven't ov'd yet, just because you had a temp hike on Monday but it doesn't look sustained for three days which is what confirms ov. You had a positive opk but that only confirms a LH surge. Only bbt can confirm ov. So keep dtd because I think you'll ov soon!

OP posts:
bama4 · 21/02/2018 18:11

@ronswansonstache I don't know enough about temping yet to be able to help but hopefully one of the other ladies can give you some advice
@Bubblegum89 hopefully it has cleared things out and your periods will get heavier over time? 🤞🏼 it's not a coincidence

bama4 · 21/02/2018 18:09

@SoozC I don't think I've ov yet - haven't had ewcm and wasn't expecting positive opks till next week I just wanted to get in the routine of doing them - currently on cd12 so to get a near positive on cd10 was a bit of a shock. Hopefully they'll get darker over the next few days and then a positive

ronswansonstache · 21/02/2018 17:38

This is my chart. I'm a bit worried that there's not more of a temp rise, since the rise it just seems only very slightly higher than the follicular stage. Does ov actually take place at the temp dip (seems to be CD10 here) or at the rise (CD13, when I also got a +ve OPK)?

Also, am I too cold? There seem to be much higher temps on the chart that I never get to!

When the going gets tough, the tough get Yams
ronswansonstache · 21/02/2018 17:34

Bama what CD are you on? You might still ov yet? I don't usually start with OPKs until about CD10 or 11. I've been using the Clear Blue ones that give a very unambiguous smiley face (or circle).

I've only just started BBT & I'm not sure if I'm doing it right. It seems like quite an imperfect process - I can't do it at exactly the same time every morning, I'm tending to wake up earlier and earlier with thoughts of doing my temperature and that makes me sleep restlessly and toss and turn until my usual waking time.

Mind if I share my chart on here for advice?
