Thread five!

A safe place for those of you who have been trying to conceive for 6+ months and even yams aren’t helping. Come and have a good ol’ bitch and a moan without judgement.

The Yam Commandments are as follows;

  • Thou shalt not arrive one day and post BFP next day
  • Thou shalt not give advice to others when TTC for one month only
  • Thou shalt not participate in one-up-manship and realise TTC is shit for everyone in different ways
  • Thou shall allow posters to be fucked off with the world and everything in it at regular points in the month
  • Thou shalt not be offended by strong language
  • Thou shalt not tell everyone to eat yams
  • Thou shall accept being called a muppet for testing at 7dpo at 9pm at night

And most importantly...

  • Thou shalt not symptom spot during the two week wait and must be prepared for a telling off if you do so.

Thanks Sooz, just discovered I'm out. Cycle 24 begins. FML.

Not sure how much longer I can do this. It's never going to happen is it?!

SoozC · 03/03/2018 09:23

On the face of it I'd say yes, Ron, sorry. But there are always those people who say they had a dip and then it rose again afterwards and they got their bfp! It just never happens that way for me.

Jumping on the BBT chat - I'm on CD25 and had a big temp drop. Not back to follicular phase level but lowest yet of the LP. Do I count myself out this month?

SoozC · 02/03/2018 22:00

Hope, try bbt vaginally and see if that helps the pattern. Agree about opks but just thought any other info might help pinpoint your ov.

Hopeislost · 02/03/2018 21:23

@SoozC Yes orally. My GP told me there was no point doing OPKs as I have PCOS but I'm starting to get to the point where I'll try anything! (except yams, obviously Wink)

SoozC · 02/03/2018 21:03

I can't dream about it either, Bubble. I get scared reading about women who took years ttc, often without a happy ending. I get scared that's me. I worry about when I should put the dream away and stop. I don't feel I can yet but, at 36, every cycle my fertility is waning. I wish I could know what the future holds. I'm scared. That's the emotion I feel the most.

Sorry about your bfn si1ver :( enjoy your wine

sooz I genuinely can’t picture myself with a baby anymore. When I first started ttc I had all these images of us as a happy completed family, going out on family walks with a buggy and everyone poking their head in to tell me how cute my baby was and asking me questions. I used to daydream about how I’d tell my OH I was pregnant. Maybe get a digital hpt and a cute “daddy” babygro and give them to him in a little box and then we would both have a happy cry. Now I can’t picture any of it. I’m so very lucky to have my daughter but my family isn’t complete and I can’t see it ever being that way. The hope has just gone. It makes me really sad that I can’t even dream about it anymore. I really do think you’ll get there, and I honestly hope you do xx

pinkdonkey · 02/03/2018 20:19

looking no he went to ask about the mask and was just told to lose weight, he's got to loose weight for his diabetes too. He's doing well though lost over a stone since Christmas.

silver congratulations on the exam sorry about the BFN.

Had 4 inches snow here, glad I was off work anyway and didn't have to battle through it.

SoozC · 02/03/2018 20:11

No idea, Hope. Your bbt is too zigzag-y to tell what's going on. Do you temp orally? Do opks?

Bubble, I was thinking about that earlier. How I really can't hope and that I can't believe it's ever going to happen to me again. Maybe that bfp was my one chance. I just look into my future and believe that I'm not destined to have children. Not naturally, anyway. But after swearing we were going to try till April then get on the adoption thing, I've decided I need to try longer. Which is kind of masochistic, isn't it? I don't know what the answer is but I feel you.

I’m kind of jealous of those of you with snow but only because I ended up not having a snow day from work :(

I’ve made the mistake of feeling a bit positive about this cycle. First one after HyCoSy and HyCoSy can sometimes help fertility. Actually getting ewcm (two lots in one day!) and then getting a super strong positive on my opk. But I know deep down that none of this means anything at all and I’m naturally such a pessimist that being optimistic seems unnatural to me. Especially after doing this for so long.

MynameisJune · 02/03/2018 18:21

Have a nasty feeling af is going to arrive super early this month. Had some very short cycles this time last year and getting all the symptoms now.

FairyAnn · 02/03/2018 18:04

I've been working from home since Wednesday due to the snow. Still got plenty but the wind has really picked up now.
Forecast more snow tonight as well

Hopeislost · 02/03/2018 17:56

My app has decided rather retrospectively that I did ovulate this month, but my temps were so all over the place that I don't believe it.

What do you think?

Si1ver · 02/03/2018 17:39

That's super strong bubblegum!

We've got about six inches of snow here. I've had the fire lit since this morning. I passed my exam today for some professional acreditation and seeing as I had a bfn this morning and my period is due tomorrow I'm going to have some wine.

WonkyDonk87 · 02/03/2018 16:52

*7.30 am that is - poor bugger!

WonkyDonk87 · 02/03/2018 16:52

Main roads are clear here now bet yesterday was awful. Five of us walked into work but Home now thank F.
DH and I are both shattered (he got stuck at work last night and didn't get home til 7.30.... hope I can coax a DTD out of him, would be a shame to waste the ewcm!

SoozC · 02/03/2018 15:05

Blimey that's strong!

Weather here is snow and snowing. No heating or hot water and the bath and sink upstairs aren't draining. So over it now. Even if it is a snow day.

Honestly, she couldn’t have barged in before or after 😂 had to be right at the critical moment. Cue OH diving off me and me screaming in frustration because we’d just wasted my peak day haha funny to laugh about now though.

Also blimey, just did an opk when I got in. I’m lucky that I do always get a positive (eventually) but bloody hell, I don’t remember having one this strong before. AND I had more ewcm when I went for a wee. Not as much as this morning but still, two lots in one day as opposed to one lot in 17 previous months. I’m trying not to overthink it too much though, I know that only leads to disappointment.

Unrelated but what is the weather like where you guys are? We didn’t really get much snow but the wind right now, Jesus Christ, I think my windows are going to come in!

When the going gets tough, the tough get Yams
SoozC · 02/03/2018 14:24

Oh god, Bubble, I can't imagine being interrupted like that!!! Ha! That must be a weird one!

I have had every symptom too so I know nothing means anything. Really going to try not to symptom-spot yeah bollocks this cycle.

OP posts:
MynameisJune · 02/03/2018 14:22

@bubble that’s just typical about your DD lol. DD is a heavy sleeper luckily, she fell out of bed once and I found her asleep on the floor like nothing had happened!

MynameisJune · 02/03/2018 14:21

@pink this is definitely not the first time I’ve felt sick in the tww so I know it’s not a pregnancy symptom. Like you I’ve had every symptom under the sun!

@looking weirdly it’s the opposite for me, I know af is due when I stop running to the loo every 5 minutes.

Bubblegum89 · 02/03/2018 14:11

Yep cd13 here as well sooz my opks have been getting a little darker but not as dark as they usually are by now so going to test when I get home and hope for the best. Typical that my 9 year old is out pretty much all week every week with clubs and seeing her dad etc and the one week we could do with her being out of the house instead of the room next to us and she’s not had any of her clubs or anything. Having to be super quiet as one time she overheard us and came barging into the bedroom at a very critical moment. I was livid haha

Anyway, seriously hoping this ewcm sticks around every month now. As gross as it is

LookingAtTheStars89 · 02/03/2018 14:01

@pinkdonkey. Does he wear a mask? Yeah my DH would benefit from losing weight. I think the apnea has gotten worse since he put some on.

I sometimes feel sick in the tww. One indicator for me that flo is on the way is about three days or so before, I pee like it's going out of fashion lol.

I'm with you with the itchy dry skin! The frequent changes in weather always flare it up :-(

WonkyDonk87 · 02/03/2018 13:22

Ewcm here too but I'm stuck at work. Hope everyone's warm and safe - it's treacherous down here in Dorset!

pinkdonkey · 02/03/2018 13:19

Hi June,

I always feel very nauseous in the 2ww often to the point of being sure I will be sick so, whilst I'm feeling sick that's normal for me, also getting cramps and sore boobs which are also normal for me. To be honest I've had every symptom out there in 2ww at one point or another lol. Just feeling so impatient.
