Thread five!

A safe place for those of you who have been trying to conceive for 6+ months and even yams aren’t helping. Come and have a good ol’ bitch and a moan without judgement.

The Yam Commandments are as follows;

  • Thou shalt not arrive one day and post BFP next day
  • Thou shalt not give advice to others when TTC for one month only
  • Thou shalt not participate in one-up-manship and realise TTC is shit for everyone in different ways
  • Thou shall allow posters to be fucked off with the world and everything in it at regular points in the month
  • Thou shalt not be offended by strong language
  • Thou shalt not tell everyone to eat yams
  • Thou shall accept being called a muppet for testing at 7dpo at 9pm at night

And most importantly...

  • Thou shalt not symptom spot during the two week wait and must be prepared for a telling off if you do so.

highwater a friend of mine is convinced acupuncture worked for her she tells a story of seeing her male accupunturist in the supermarket and shouting down the aisle " Hi Mike, you got me pregnant!"

WonkyDonk87 · 06/03/2018 07:34

Highwater Not pathetic at all, even if this isn't your month that's still something to be pleased about. I'm tentatively predicting my first ever 31 day cycle (last one was 78) and putting it down to taking Agnus Castus

Highwater · 05/03/2018 23:23

@looking my DH has low morphology and we are trying reducing alcohol, vitamins etc to improve it but I completely understand how upsetting it is.

On an exciting development after a few months of acupuncture this cycle is looking like 32 days rather than the usual 45 + day cycles so maybe things are looking up (I realise I'm setting myself up for a fall but can't help but think it's going to work this time. I'm pathetic!)

WonkyDonk87 · 05/03/2018 22:11

Fecking feck feck. My nips are sensitive. Which means I've probably already ovulated. And what happened in the days running up to it when I had ewcm? Failed shag and feck all else (well, one but that is NOT ENOUGH!) due to the fecking snow!!! Bastard weather. Grrrrr.

LexieJean · 05/03/2018 20:51

😂😂 @pink I know what you mean! I feel like all my skin is itchy, desperately trying not to itch my nipples off!

SoozC · 05/03/2018 20:42

Google low morphology, it's definitely something that can be improved. DH had low morphology about a year ago and we got a bfp in October so it can happen, it may just take longer. x

BTW, regular/long-term posters, there's a secret Yammers FB group, pm me if you want in!

@looking so sorry it wasn’t a positive visit to the GP. I don’t know much about morphology but I wonder if there are things your DH could do that can help? Maybe give him a chance to process and then do some research together. I know how you feel about the panic that a sibling might never happen. Big hugs.

pinkdonkey · 05/03/2018 20:02

looking That's rubbish! Sorry you had a bad experience. Have you got long to wait until you can discuss the results with someone?

sooz that was lovely and thoughtful. jaggy That's the benefit of ebooks lol.

lexie I'm still itching like crazy particular my boobs. I know it's most likely dry skin from cold weather but part of me is clinging onto it. Driving me mad though could barely keep my hands out my bra earlier when DHs nurse was here (for 2 hours) I nearly had to excuse myself to go and have a good scratch part way through.

chooklass good luck with your appointment hope it goes well. I also put off speaking to my GP for ages because it made it a bit too real, but feel better for having the discussion.

LookingAtTheStars89 · 05/03/2018 19:46

Well we went to DH's appointment and his sperm morphology was 3%. The Dr said it's not great and obviously we can get pregnant as we have a DD together. He said it's going to take us longer to conceive and that we only have one plan B option using DH's sperm and that's IVF with ICSI.
DH is heartbroken, He says he's ok but I know he isn't. I suddenly feel panicked. I keep picturing this other little person in our lives and the thought that they might never be here is....awful.

JaggyJobby · 05/03/2018 19:10

@Chooklass i felt like that before my first doctors appointment about this, but to be honest I feel like a weight has been lifted since going, and I feel like I finally have hope again that I might one day actually manage to have kids! Sure it won't last, but at least now I feel like I'm getting some answers. Good on you for booking an appointment, hope it goes well.

JaggyJobby · 05/03/2018 19:08

@SoozC let us know if the book is any good. I'd love to get a bunch of books to read about TTC to feel like I'm doing something but too embarressed to go get them haha.

JaggyJobby · 05/03/2018 19:05

@LookingAtTheStars89 sorry your doctor was rubbish. They can definitely see ovulation stuff in ultrasounds, my doctor has shown me my follicles over the last three USs and this time one was about twice as big, if not more, than the rest (hopefully with a developing egg inside!). The whole reason I am getting the ultrasounds is to see if I'm ovulating. These are internal ones though, dunno what the external belly US does haha.

Chooklass · 05/03/2018 17:32

First fertility clinic appt tomorrow - have become really nervous, even though I don't suppose much will happen. Feels like we will officially have fertility problems after we've been seen by a specialist, like it's suddenly real.

DoAsDreamersDo · 05/03/2018 17:07

They tasted like I’d dug up the garden and shoved a weed in my mouth. It’s maca root extract if that makes a difference.

SoozC · 05/03/2018 16:39

DH was so sweet today - he got me a book from the library, 'The art of baby-making'. Going to read it tonight.

SoozC · 05/03/2018 16:37

Dreamers, mine are capsules so don't taste of much but the smell when I open the pot is quite a wheat-y smell, natural, like grass or hops. What did yours taste of?

LexieJean · 05/03/2018 15:31

@bubble I’ve gone mental: fancied artichoke at lunch after wanting it on my pizza at the weekend so obvs am pg. what an idiot.

Bubblegum89 · 05/03/2018 15:04

looking I’ve had a few sonographers with zero people skills, really doesn’t help things. No idea what an enlarged ovary means, could it maybe be a cyst? I’m guessing your doctor will explain it all to you anyway, fingers crossed it’s nothing bad!

12 days until my period and I’m already losing my mind. Gah I forgot how crap the tww is.

LookingAtTheStars89 · 05/03/2018 14:22

I had my very uncomfortable pelvic ultrasound today. The sonographer had the people skills of a snail! I asked her if she got see anything ovulation wise and she said "ultrasound doesn't show that" Hmm Fairly sure it does lol. She wouldn't tell me much as they never do but she said I had an enlarged ovary, so what that means, I don't know.

DoAsDreamersDo · 05/03/2018 13:19

Not sure of the make! I got them from Amazon and they taste vile on the way down!!

MynameisJune · 05/03/2018 12:46

@do my Maca root tablets taste of nothing! Which ones are you taking?

DoAsDreamersDo · 05/03/2018 12:10

Ladies, I took my first maca root capsule this morning and was nearly sick! It tasted disgusting and I had to really make an effort not to throw it back up again (sorry TMI). I don't know how I'm going to do it again tomorrow! Lets hope that it actually makes a difference!!

HidCat · 05/03/2018 11:53

@JaggyJobby thats hilarious! One way to break the ice I suppose lol. Sounds fascinating as well. It's great that you can have all these insights now and hopefully get that BFP you've been waiting for.

pinkdonkey · 05/03/2018 10:37

jaggy that would freak me out too! It does sound incredibly interesting, it's so much more complicated than I realised!

JaggyJobby · 05/03/2018 10:07

Oh, and I swear my doctor purposley says weird things at her forst look of me down below. First time she took one look then remarked "Its so beautiful! so green! so grassy!" and only after a bit did I realise she was talking about Ireland. Second time she was holding the US wand thing and went "its freezing cold!" haha and then went on to talk about the weather, pfew. This time she came in for a look and said "eurgh, you've got a big cut there, its forming a big red boil! Did you get that today?!" and I then realised she was talking about the cut on my knee as I'd slid and fell pver on my way there. Sheesh, sure she just likes to freak me out!
