TTC #1, Cycle 1. Anyone In?

Hi all,
Longtime lurker, occasional commenter, rare poster here.
DH and I decided to start to TTC after much deliberation recently.
I've been on the pill for 16 years and haven't had a natural period in that time! Had my withdrawal bleed which started on 15th Jan and think I may have ovulated on Thursday 2nd Feb. I was doing OPKs (I know - first cycle, but if I'm going to do it, I'm going all in!) and got an almost-positive then - didn't have any more OPKs with me to test slightly later in the day.
DTD numerous times in what I'm estimating is my fertile week (working on the basis that my cycle is 28 days but don't really know at the moment).
So now the waiting begins.
Anyone in the same position or want to join?
Advice and your stories welcomed!

Waiting that's interesting. I may see if my GP offers that!

@jemima Cycle 6 atm..
preconception appt is just like a medical check where the doctor will check my health to ensure I’m healthy for a pregnancy and if there’s any underlying causes to worry about

AnotherOriginalUsername · 04/03/2018 19:13

@snowbrigade I'm exactly the same, and the switch happened literally as soon as I signed my marriage certificate !

snowbrigade · 04/03/2018 18:04

I'm finding the switch in mentality of being scared of accidentally getting pregnant to desperately wanting to get pregnant an interesting one... I almost had a pregnancy-phobia for decades, using double protection etc.... Now I'm scared that it'll take me a long time to succeed. Wish I could just chill!

jemimafuddleduck · 04/03/2018 17:52

Hi waiting! Welcome and good luck on your journey! What cycle are you on? And what's a preconception appointment - never heard of that?!

Hi all... longtime lurker on here first time commenter..
thought I’d join as me and DH are TTC #1
A little about me I’m 23, married 7 months... finding it hard TTC as my periods are so irregular 😩 it’s hard to work out when I’m ovulating..
we’re so desperate for a BFP I’m thinking about going to see my doctor for a preconception appointment..
Sorry for the essay 🙈

I think it's because from the age of about 13 it's drummed into us repeatedly that you only have to have sex once to get pregnant....I wish !

jemimafuddleduck · 04/03/2018 09:58

Welcome esk1 and Snow! Glad to have you along.
Yeah we start off all "oh well we all know it can take ages to get pregnant" but underneath being secretly convinced we'll be the ones who'll get up duffed month one 🤷‍♀️
I don't have any diagnoses fertility issues but am driving myself a bit crazy worrying that there's something wrong, even though it's still early days!

@Esk1 I'm the same. Endometrioma sand PCOS...was all pragmatic going in. Two cycles along, now I'm just crazily symptom m spotting. It's hard to not get carried away with it all and get hope up 🙁

snowbrigade · 04/03/2018 07:44

Hi, I would like to join in too, hopefully it is not too late. 😊

I'm a long time lurker, 31 and finally TTC #1. I had my implant taken out on Jan 23rd and have since then had two bleeds (neither of which felt like what my "normal" periods pre hormonal contraception felt like....) Not sure whether I have actually ovulated yet. Originally had wanted to let my cycles get normal before giving it a go, but husband and I then thought why miss any opportunities!

So here goes hoping, though not feeling optimistic this time round.

Esk1 · 04/03/2018 00:50

Hi all - thought I'd tentatively join in if it's okay. I'm actually on cycle 5, 26 and TTC #1. Also been a long time lurker.

So far the experience of trying has been a bit of a rollercoaster. We decided not to tell anyone as I have pretty bad endometriosis and there's a not insignificant risk that I'm infertile (didn't want anyone's hopes up on our behalf).

Despite this at the beginning I was pretty convinced I'd immediately get pregnant! Blush I know cycle 5 isn't really bad but I'm having to fight prematurely concluding that something's wrong and feeling a bit hopeless.

jemimafuddleduck · 03/03/2018 13:58

Kitkat sorry to hear about AF but I understand what you're saying about knowing your cycles!

IF I did ovulate, I'd currently be 7dpo. I'm not 100% sure that I did and even if I did I'm not sure that we DTD at the right time due to illness.

And yet, I'm soooo tempted to test. Someone please talk some sense into me?! AF isn't due for another 10 days?!

@Unicorn234
www.mooncup.co.uk

I've made friends with the mooncup again (I feel like it needs a name). I was told by the nurse who ripped my coil out that my first period would likely be quite light. If this is light, well I'd hate to see heavy Confused

orangekitkat13 · 02/03/2018 18:14

@AnotherOriginalUsername oh on! Might take a while to get used to maybe?

Well AF finally showed up this morning! Part of me is a bit disappointed but mostly pleased as means I might be able to get an idea of a cycle next month! Typically though I have a very busy weekend running around at work!

jemimafuddleduck · 02/03/2018 17:30

Another oh no 🙈

OP posts:
Unicorn234 · 02/03/2018 16:29

What's a mooncup? Lol

AnotherOriginalUsername · 02/03/2018 14:41

I was minding my own business, cooking some lentil soup (I'm snowed in!) and felt a really weird sensation, like something was sucking my cervix out - think it must have just lost its seal (and then subsequently leaked everywhere Confused)

jemimafuddleduck · 02/03/2018 14:19

Oh no what happened?!

OP posts:
AnotherOriginalUsername · 02/03/2018 13:19

Mooncup fail 🙄

AnotherOriginalUsername · 02/03/2018 08:59

@jemimafuddleduck maybe a sex drought in your 3 non fertile weeks? 😂

For those who were wanting mooncup feedback - I'm about 36 hours in and no complaints so far - no leaks, no disposable products used - quite happy with it!

jemimafuddleduck · 01/03/2018 22:53

Thanks kitkat. It's tough isn't it Sad

OP posts:
orangekitkat13 · 01/03/2018 22:48

@jemimafuddleduck no suggestions I'm afraid, just letting you know your not the only ones struggling with that!

jemimafuddleduck · 01/03/2018 22:25

Thanks funkie and welcome!
A question for all of you.. how do you stop sex becoming something you "have to do"?
It's only c2 and I'm trying not to put too much pressure on. I said to my husband "this is a good week" and also said Wednesday or Thursday would be particularly good.
We DTD earlier but it was clear that it was a bit forced and neither of us could really be bothered but did it anyway. I
I really don't want it to become a chore, especially this early on in the process. But at the same time he kind of needs to know when is a good time otherwise we may not end up doing it.
Any suggestions/tips?
