TTC #1, Cycle 1. Anyone In?

Hi all,
Longtime lurker, occasional commenter, rare poster here.
DH and I decided to start to TTC after much deliberation recently.
I've been on the pill for 16 years and haven't had a natural period in that time! Had my withdrawal bleed which started on 15th Jan and think I may have ovulated on Thursday 2nd Feb. I was doing OPKs (I know - first cycle, but if I'm going to do it, I'm going all in!) and got an almost-positive then - didn't have any more OPKs with me to test slightly later in the day.
DTD numerous times in what I'm estimating is my fertile week (working on the basis that my cycle is 28 days but don't really know at the moment).
So now the waiting begins.
Anyone in the same position or want to join?
Advice and your stories welcomed!

@emdoc, feel the same! So impatient even though this is only our second month trying! Also @unicorn234 it’s a good sign your cycles are regular, means you’re probably ovulating and it makes it easier to predict when to dtd lots.
@Ramad6716 it’s normal to have mixed feelings. I so want to be pregnant but I know if I was, the minute I found out I would start panicking and worry it was the wrong decision. Also you should be able to diet safely while ttc as long as you lose weight gradually, maybe just one or two pounds a week, and make sure your diet is healthy and you get all the vitamins and stuff you need. It shouldn’t affect your cycle if you’re sensible. Exercise is also recommended during pregnancy, as long as it’s isnt marathon running or a contact sport. Maybe just loosely track your cycle and see what happens, don’t put pressure on and just have sex when you feel like it.

I’m just going into my fertile week, exciting!

@Unicorn234

I used the natural cycles app for a while and they sent me a thermometer which is really sensitive.

They say basically as soon as you wake up in the morning or as soon as the alarm goes off even if your snoozing it then take temp on first alarm. They also say if you sleep 2hrs more or even have a slight cold etc then not to count it as such as it can be inaccurate. For these reasons I decided I wasn't brave enough to use the app to prevent pregnancy as I tend to oversleep and snooze my alarms etc. Plus I work flexi time so don't always get up at the same times each day lol.

Rmad6716 · 29/03/2018 11:24

@orangekitkat13 they say that if you were active pre pregnancy then you are fine to continue as normal 😃. I'm just severely unfit and a serial worrier lol 😣. I would love to be able to run but it always feels like torture to me!

Rmad6716 · 29/03/2018 11:18

Morning all!

I've woken up feeling so confused this morning!
I'm so so swollen all over and my rings feels so tight on my finger to the point I've just decided to prize them off lol. I feel horrible 😣. Carrying on from yesterday's post on feeling fat and unhealthy I'm actually starting to wonder if I need to go on a wee self love journey before fully throwing myself into TTC. I need to lose some weight first I think. I've always struggled to stay slim but since the end of last year the getting broody thing has totally thrown me off track, eating because 'I'll just get fat soon anyway' or because I'm unhappy because I've not miraculously pregnant. I'm not massively overweight but My clothes are starting to become unbearable (5ft5 - 11.5st plus..). The broody-ness seems to come in waves. I feel like I want it so much but I'm also very scared about being pregnant and the birth etc. It's so confusing and I feel like I change my mind everyday from wanting a baby more than anything to not being sure if I am ready. Anybody else feel a bit like this? Do you think it's normal to be scared? I feel like maybe I should wait till the end of summer to work out my cycles and know that I can happily diet and exercise without harming anything. So if I'm definitely not pregnant this cycle then I think I will probably take some time out.

@AnotherOriginalUsername yes I did.. I was so apprehensive tho 😂 but I think I’m getting the hang of it.. it seemed mid high last night and not too firm..
I’m pretty sure I ain’t ovulated yet this month and it’s CD 20 I seriously hate having irregular cycles 😭

Also I think TTC is making me mad 😂😂 I keep having really vivid baby related dreams.. last night I had one I was in labour and the day before I had one that we actually had a baby 🙊 really need to start concentrating on something else

jemimafuddleduck · 29/03/2018 08:25

@Unicorn234 I had a Braun one but it was really inaccurate (would give me totally different readings one after the other) so I'm sending it back.
I think you are supposed to try to take your temp as soon as you wake up, without sitting up or really moving. It should be taken at the same time every day as well!

@Unicorn234 sorry to hear that - but that is absolutely the right attitude to approach things with, so good for you! Plus you can have wine tonight and enjoy the BH weekend Wine

AnotherOriginalUsername · 29/03/2018 07:58

@WaitingForThatBFP did you go on your cervical voyage of discovery?

Unicorn234 · 29/03/2018 07:49

Just ordered a basal thermometer anyone got any experience/advice for me? E.g. when's the best time to use it?

Unicorn234 · 29/03/2018 07:43

Morning everyone AF arrived for me this morning when I was meant to be taking a test.
Mixed emotions about it as the last 2 cycles have been 36 days and I was so worried I was going to be irregular. Is 36 days a normal cycle?
Anyway I will concentrate on this cycle now 😊

NewSparkle · 28/03/2018 18:32

@emdoc I’m the exact same, thought it would be DTD &. Voila baby on the way. So naive!

currently CD4, last cycle 38 days, before that was 30 so not sure what the norm is.

emdoc · 28/03/2018 15:19

Hello everyone, I'm a new member but have been lurking and thought I'd join in!

Congrats to you @AnotherOriginalUsername, so very exciting!!

About myself, I'm 32, husband is 33, we are TTC #1. I had a Mirena for the last 4 years and had it removed 1 week ago. Spotted lightly 3 days after removal and nothing since, so no idea where I am in my cycle yet so I don't know if it really counts as #1. I already feel as though I am losing my mind with this business.. Can't believe how quickly things changed from not wanting to be pregnant to now wanting this to happen immediately!

Looking forward to following this along with all of you :)

Englishpetal89 · 28/03/2018 13:54

@orangekitkat13 I know how that feels! I started running in January and don't feel any fitter than I did then!

I'm supposed to be doing a 10k in June 😥 but worried it will put too much stress on my body.

orangekitkat13 · 28/03/2018 13:18

@Rmad6716 I'm the same! I got into running towards the end of last year but now I'm scared to go incase it reduces my fertility or harms any early pregnancy! I've read the extreme exercising can do that and as I'm still pretty unfit, each run feels like real hard work!

Rmad6716 · 28/03/2018 11:43

I've felt like I've really neglected my diet and stopped myself from exercise in fear or damaging any unborn baby in the case I've conceived since TTC'ing. From AF onwards I'm going to get back on the wagon and start going to the gym, if anything it may take my mind off It all. Starting to feel really bloated and like AF is defo coming! I got married last July and I've now gained at last 1.5 stone. Would love to be one of those slim, glowing pregnant women but I know I'll be a sweaty mess probably haha. I should do some damage control now in preparation for hopefully being pregnant at some point this year 🤰🤞🏼

orangekitkat13 · 28/03/2018 10:44

@AnotherOriginalUsername Congratulations!!!

orangekitkat13 · 28/03/2018 10:44

@AnotherOriginalUsername Congratulations!!!

Rach0110 · 28/03/2018 08:52

Good luck @howiseverynametaken hope this is your month, Fingers crossed for u!

@AnotherOriginalUsername brilliant news, congrats!! Anyone else with a BFP out there?

@jemimafuddleduck and @Rmad6716 don't lose hope yet until AF arrives! I think I'm out as have had 3 days spotting now... just want AF to hurry up and get here properly now so can start again... going to have to start a May bus I think!

howiseverynametaken · 28/03/2018 08:15

@AnotherOriginalUsername congratulations!! That is so exciting!!

@Rmad6716, sorry you got that BFN although along with @jemimafuddleduck, I don't think you are out of the game this month until AF arrives!

AF has just finished so keen to get on the bandwagon again but we have guests staying with us for the next month so it's quite tricky...will have to be inventive with DP!

jemimafuddleduck · 28/03/2018 08:08

@Rmad6716 ahh sorry to hear you're in the same boat 😕 I agree, hurry up AF!

OP posts:
Rmad6716 · 28/03/2018 08:02

@jemimafuddleduck just did it. BFN! Kind of expected it but also thought because I was expecting a BFN then it may just have been a BFP🤪. Used the bloody FRER! I'm pretty sure I'm already out this month. I feel nothing, like no PMS symptoms but not really any preg symptoms. We will get there eventually🤞🏼🐣. Just want AF to hurry up and come early so I can crack on next month!

jemimafuddleduck · 28/03/2018 07:50

@AnotherOriginalUsername yes it's definitely there! Congratulations to you!!

@Rmad6716 yes I tested today (10dpo). It was BFN. I'm not 100% when AF is due but I feel like it's going to be soon. This is my third cycle off the pill, first cycle was 29 days and second was 22. Today is cd22.

I thought I could see a hint of a line a couple of days ago but now I think I was just kidding myself and it was negative 😢

OP posts:
Rmad6716 · 28/03/2018 07:42

Anybody testing today? I'm now 10DPO (so the apps say but didn't have anything conclusive otherwise). Really really want to POA FRER but I've pee'd on so many cheapos I've lost hope and that's my fault 😣. Do I do or not do!?

WaitingForThatBFP · 28/03/2018 06:57

@AnotherOriginalUsername CONGRATULATIONS XXX

NotMaryWhitehouse · 28/03/2018 06:50

@AnotherOriginalUsername yes! Congratulations..... go and wake your husband up! 👏🏻
