Where there’s a Yam, there’s a way

Thread numero four-o.

A safe place for those of you who have been trying to conceive for 6+ months and even yams aren’t helping. Come and have a good ol’ bitch and a moan without judgement.

The Yam Commandments are as follows;

  • Thou shall not arrive one day and post BFP next day
  • Thou shall not give advice to others when TTC for one month only
  • Thou shall not participate in one-up-manship and realise TTC is shit for everyone in different ways
  • Thou shall allow posters to be fucked off with the world and everything in it at regular points in the month
  • Thou shall not be offended by strong language
  • Thou shall not tell everyone to eat yams
  • Thou shall accept being called a muppet for testing at 7dpo at 9pm at night

And most importantly...

  • Thou shall not symptom spot during the two week wait and must be prepared for a telling off if they do so.

Welcome and welcome. We’re all very nice and friendly despite being horrible bitter old cows ☺️

GP appointment this morning. What a waste of time. She had all my data from the previous surgery.... I explained that I was still not ovulating properly (now on cd70 - I think, lost count tbh)... and she told me to come back in September. Bloody brilliant.

Limp / bubble How are you getting on? X
Sooz I'm rooting for you!

SoozC · 07/02/2018 12:43

I'm only a possible 3dpo but already symptom spotting Hmm Feeling nauseous generally, but especially when I took the lid off the coffee granules at worn this morning. So of course that can only mean 1 thing. I ate sweet potatoes this cycle and everything. Sure thing for me, right?!

LimpLettice · 07/02/2018 10:35

Thank you.

Epu said my progesterone was 47, hcg 1200 on Monday which are good levels. Now just waiting for a call to let me know if those hcgs have gone up and enough. Bleughhh.

DoAsDreamersDo · 07/02/2018 09:23

Thinking of you both today Bubble and Limp xx

Bubblegum89 · 07/02/2018 08:58

Thank you, ladies. Feel sick with anxiety this morning tbh but I’m in work so that’ll take my mind if it hopefully. Limp my appointment is at 3 this afternoon, so I’ve got all day to worry about it lol. I hope everything goes well with you today, like Nimble said, it’s not necessarily bad news but I totally understand your hesitance to feel any other way. Keeping everything crossed for you!

Hope all goes well for you today Bubble and Limp.

LexieJean · 07/02/2018 08:11

@milk that is hilarious! I’m tempted to get him that from the nhs as a kind of ‘it’ll be child’s play to quit’!
Thanks for the tips ex-smokers. I think his biggest hurdle is he doesn’t want to stop. Obviously he knows he has to but is v childishly digging his heels in!

Thanks @june I’m trying to stay positive.

@bubble and @limp good luck with your appointments today, sending you positive vibes!

LimpLettice · 07/02/2018 07:09

Really hoping for positive news for you today Bubblegum. What time is your appointment?

I'm popping into epu after the school run. Have a packed day today which is probably good. They should then call me re hcg this afternoon. At least we'll know. Haven't told parents any of this altho I normally would, as dad is in the middle of cancer treatment and mum is away on a conference, so had a horribly cheery conversation last night about symptoms and maternity wedding dresses. Urgh.

Nimble the midwife said the same, but I just feel horribly negative after last time. It all seems too good. We've had a phenomenal year and it just feels like asking for too much.

Pibbee · 07/02/2018 05:24

Hope the appt goes well @Bubble

Hope you manage to get some sleep, Bubble. Everything crossed for you x

Bubblegum89 · 06/02/2018 22:06

Thank you for the thoughts, ladies. I’m cacking myself. I have this horrible sinking feeling they are going to tell me my tubes are blocked. My appointment isn’t until 3 so I’m going to be stressing about it all day

@milk probably in womb double bluff territory but I’m not falling for it this time!!

@lexi the unexplained diagnosis is probably worse that knowing because there is just nothing they can suggest as a treatment plan. On the other hand take heart that there isn’t actually anything discernible stopping you from getting pregnant so hopefully it will happen naturally before you get to IVF. Completely understand how hard it is to deal with though. And how doubly frustrating it must be to have to wait further for DH because of smoking.

It gave me a few side effects (mental dreams, headache, nausea) but nothing unmanageable and worked perfectly - good luck to your DH.

LexieJean · 06/02/2018 20:08

oh thanks for the tip @wonky I shall look into that!

WonkyDonk87 · 06/02/2018 19:36

@LexieJean Has your OH tried Champix? It was the only way I quit smoking and after loads of stressful attempts and £140 on hypnotherapy it was EASY with Champix x

bama4 · 06/02/2018 19:31

@Milknosugar1 thanks - that makes sense, think I'll stick them in my basket and have a good old think first then

@LexieJean sorry to hear no real answers for you and the 6 month wait now!!

@Bubblegum89 and @LimpLettice thinking of you both for tomorrow Thanks

@wonky the delay is only because of OH smoking. They won't move us forward in the process on the NHS until he's quit for 6 months. Otherwise we'd have gotten the referral today.

SoozC · 06/02/2018 18:35

Sorry to hear you got af, Si1ver. Look after yourself.

Lexie, sorry to hear you've unexplained infertility. I guess it's positive it's not some terrible physical problem but that's scant relief when they can't give you any ideas on how to proceed. Take care of yourself and tell OH that now is definitely the time to quit smoking. Big hugs.

Bubble, I totally get you, sorry to hear it's got to this point for you. If anyone deserves a year of looking after themselves it's you. x

WonkyDonk87 · 06/02/2018 18:12

Hi Lexi. How come they make you wait another 6 months before referring for IVF? Seems unnecessary as you've been waiting so long already. Totally get the frustration of 'unexplained' - I was oddly irritated my initial results didn't show PCOS as it meant there was no immediate/clear treatment pathway

LexieJean · 06/02/2018 14:45

Hi everyone. Just heading home after result consultation with the fertility clinic. As I feared/expected we’re in the ‘unexplained infertility’ camp. My AMH levels were a bit low (8.something instead of 12) but she wasn’t worried. As I’m 35 that’s not hugely surprising. I know I should be grateful that we’re both healthy and have no serious problems that need to be addressed- but I feel a bit deflated and frustrated. I want to know why we’re 17cycles in and nothing. No hint of a bfp.

So we head to the IVF queue. We have to wait 6 months before referral as OH smokes (😡 how many times have I asked him to stop!) and in the meantime I’m going to research any other options like IUI. Of course I need to get a lottery ticket for other options 🙄

QuietTime · 06/02/2018 13:07
