Where there’s a Yam, there’s a way

Thread numero four-o.

A safe place for those of you who have been trying to conceive for 6+ months and even yams aren’t helping. Come and have a good ol’ bitch and a moan without judgement.

The Yam Commandments are as follows;

  • Thou shall not arrive one day and post BFP next day
  • Thou shall not give advice to others when TTC for one month only
  • Thou shall not participate in one-up-manship and realise TTC is shit for everyone in different ways
  • Thou shall allow posters to be fucked off with the world and everything in it at regular points in the month
  • Thou shall not be offended by strong language
  • Thou shall not tell everyone to eat yams
  • Thou shall accept being called a muppet for testing at 7dpo at 9pm at night

And most importantly...

  • Thou shall not symptom spot during the two week wait and must be prepared for a telling off if they do so.

Welcome and welcome. We’re all very nice and friendly despite being horrible bitter old cows ☺️

Fantastic to come back on to see two yammers with Bfps! Congratulations ladies, wishing you a healthy, happy and easy 9 months!

I'm being a dick this month as I can't seem to stop symptom spotting.
Boobs hurt from roughly ov (I think, I didn't really opk this month) until a few days ago (af due in 2 days)

Yesterday has a tiny bit of pink on toilet roll when I wiped. Then later after Pilates, was brown and sort of stringy (TTC is so minging). It had stopped when i checked just before bed.
Dtd this morning and thought this might have brought on af but it hasn't. There's nothing.
I'm not late but have now convinced myself it was implantation bleeding.

I'm going to be gutted again when af arrives. Why am I doing this to myself?! Hmm

Pibbee · 25/01/2018 11:02

Fair enough Grin I’ll let him strut his manly stuff for today then.... I am pleased as it’s one less thing to stress about. Hopefully we have just been mistiming it all. Well tbh some months have been a total failure on the DTD front anyway! I keep saying we need to actually DTD more in fertile week....Hopefully these results will give him a bit of a boost!

LimpLettice · 25/01/2018 10:56

Newsense yay!!! Congratulations. I did a digi last night and got a 1-2 which I'm quietly pleased about at 13dpo with weak rubbish evening pee. Any idea of due date? Funny I did nothing this month either. Now panicking over every twinge but already nauseous all day. It's so tough to be positive.

Pibbee hopefully it's just mistiming. I was told a month or so ago I might have been mistiming from opks, in that at my geriatric age the gap between lh surge and ov is much smaller, so catching it in the morning with clearblue meant I already might be ovulating.

My DP would also be strutting his manly stuff at that news. Smile

RhiBee29 · 25/01/2018 10:49

Omg @Pibbee my DH would be telling everyone if he had super-sperm! Hopefully nothing wrong your end either and you'll get a bfp soon Smile

Pibbee · 25/01/2018 10:16

Congratulations NewSense that’s amazing!!!

DH got his SA results today and apparently they aren’t just normal, they are better than normal. So in other words he seems to have super sperm which makes me even more convinced there is something wrong with me. On which note, AF has now rocked up again. Ffs....

LexieJean · 25/01/2018 09:42

Wow @newsense that’s great news! So pleased for you, 🤞 for a happy and healthy 9 months! I’ve put my request in for sweet potatoes for dinner 😉

RhiBee29 · 25/01/2018 09:28

Huge congratulations @NewSense brilliant news x

MynameisJune · 25/01/2018 09:21

@newsense huge congratulations, wonderful news. Keeping everything crossed for a happy and healthy 9 months.

Nausea doesn’t usually kick in until 5 or 6 weeks and then you’ll wish it never had!

Bubblegum89 · 25/01/2018 09:15

rubberduckies I gave up doing opks etc twice last year and it didn’t work for me 😭 mind you, I didn’t eat any yams

Rubberduckies · 25/01/2018 08:18

Congratulations @NewSense, it's lovely to have good news on the thread! Maybe we need a group 'give up temping' month (and eat a few sweet potatoes) and get us all pregnant lol!

NewSense · 25/01/2018 08:11

Thanks for all the well wishes :) I really hope many more of you are lucky soon.

NewSense · 25/01/2018 08:09

It actually still doesn't feel real this morning. I want to feel nauseous or something...?! Will be working my way through the stash of about 80 internet cheapies that I always have in stock...just to be sure.

Haha, milk ! Maybe we'll have deliveroo to celebrate ;)

  • temping, as well as tempting ;)
NewSense · 24/01/2018 23:43

Holy crap. 11pm at night. Darkest test I've ever seen. Darker than my miscarriage tests ever got.

Holy crap. 4 and a half years of bloody counting and tempting and checking and testing and crying...

I'm shitting myself that it's going to all go wrong, but holy crap I'm pregnant. At least for now.

And this month, for the first time in about a year, I ATE A SWEET POTATO. #testify

Bubblegum89 · 24/01/2018 23:40

I got my appointment for my HyCoSy so that’s good. After having nothing period-y since Sunday, I had this weird light pinky brown cm stuff today, it had a weird consistency. Kind of like wet toilet paper..? No it wasn’t wet toilet paper lol. And I’ve spent like £200 on clothes to cheer myself up and now I have no money left until payday in 3 weeks time. Yay!

limp that is great! Congratulations! Good news on this board is a thousand times better than other baby announcements :) it brings hope :)

I think I should probably just test to prove to myself I'm not pregnant. I'm now 1 day late, officially, though this is my month of not even caring and I said I wasn't going to test, just wait for AF to inevitably arrive. So I don't want to test, because I'm sick of seeing negative tests, but it's messing with my head in an unhelpful way because I just want this month to be one I had written off from the start.

Our bodies really know how to screw with us, hey.

In other news, my scan (for "not ovarian cancer") which was meant to be mid December, turns out the GP didn't even book it, so despite their policy on seeing people within 2 weeks, I'm now going in on Friday, after 8 weeks, so am in a funk over that too. I want to just be getting on with my next cycle, not messing around with this screwy cycle and having a scan to see if I have bloody cancer :(

Long rant over!

QuietTime · 24/01/2018 19:57

@limplettice lovely lovely news!!! Congratulations, that's so great - wishing you a boring happy 9 months xxx

RhiBee29 · 24/01/2018 17:49

@SparkwoodAnd21 I take it from cd1 to positive opk. Not taking it this cycle as DH & I are trying pregnacare conception but when I have taken it there has been an abundance of cm around ovulation.
