Coming off Cerelle

Hello, I am totally new to this so any help is appreciated.

I’ve recently got married and stopped taking Cerelle 16th December. I only took around 8 tables throughout December as I was running low & knew I would stop anyway.

I’ve been on cerelle for around 5 years.

Since coming off the pill I haven’t had any period, or symptoms apart from sore boobs every now & then.

We are TTC but have no idea how long it can take for my periods to start, or if you can get pregnant straight away without even having a period.

It’s really great to come across people in the same situation as me. I only found this thread through some googling.
I came off my cerelle pill on 30 December. However for the majority of December I was not taking them daily probably on average every other day due to being so busy/forgetful.
At Christmas I had a ‘period’ it lasted for 5 days. It wasn’t as heavy as periods that I had 8 years ago. I’ve not had any on the pill. But sure felt like a period.
I don’t know if I count it as a period to work out when I am ovulating as I hadn’t actually stopped the pill then?
Then after stopping the pill a few days into January I had a few days of spotting here and there.
I now take pre pregnancy supplements although I know I will not conceive due to a severe lack of trying, my January workload has taken over my personal life.
We wanted to TTC next year but my GP referred to me as ‘an older person trying for a baby’ because I am 32. This has made me feel more pressure. I am not actively trying but we will Remain unprotected but if it happens it will be a blessing. I also trying to to address my other issues like my weight as I know I am probably unlikely to conceive too because of that.
It is so nice to know that there are others out there to talk too. I struggle to talk to my friends about this sort of thing and one of them in pregnant and keeps asking us all when we will have a baby. I know the reality is that it might not happen easily. Xx

I’ve not felt as anxious about it the last few days. I’ve been using one of those apps and I think I may have ovulated yesterday which is two weeks after I stopped the pill so makes sense.
I’m just trying to focus on the positives which are I’m still generally pretty young (25) and before I went on birth control my periods were really regular.
I do wish I’d stopped sooner though. Hindsight is a beauty! xxx

Thanks for reply. I don’t know whether to go to doctors because all they will say is wait. I might leave it 3 months if no period then I’ll book an appointment. Like you say it’s the not knowing that’s frustrating. I’ve read cerelle is the worst one to get back to normal from with it completely stopping periods for so long. Good luck to you aswell keep us posted if period starts and how long it took. I’m coming up for 8 weeks again since last one so hopefully it’ll start soon xxx

since my last post i still havent had any sort of blead but i was getting symptoms that i was ovulating so i took a ovulation test and i was at peak fatality however my husband has been really unwell so only managed a single attempt to TTC so now on count down for the next 12 days to so a pregnacy test or get my period. hopfully then i will know where i stand x

Are you sure your second withdrawal wasn’t actaully a period? I have only been off cirelle a couple of weeks and haven’t had any form of bleeding. I know a withdrawal bleed is normal but having two so far apart could mean it was an actaul period?
Also you can get pregnant before you have an actaul period. A full period occurs after ovulation so in theory if you haven’t had a period yet you could be ovulating anytime. Having your period first before TTC just gives you a better idea of your dates and what time of the month you should be actively trying.

Hi, sorry for the essay I just wondered if you could advise or relate to this as ‘normal’I stopped taking the mini pill cerelle at the end of September and then on 3rd October I had like a light bleed for one day. then took 8 weeks for my ‘withdrawal bleed’ to come on the 26th November. This lasted 5 days and I’m still waiting for my actual period. I’ve done a few pregnancy tests all negative and just need some advice either wait and see, could I be pregnant with trying regularly since October coming off the pill or can I not become pregnant until my actual period comes. I’m so confused I’ve had sick feeling, boobs are hurting so much still feel bloated but these come and go. I’ve read so many things online I just don’t know what to believe. I have been on Mumsnet for years but never thought I would be posting on this thread. DS is a teenager.

My dp and I are looking at TTC this year. I am looking at coming off of cerelle soon. I have been on the pill since DS was a baby so I am worried that it may take a long time for my periods to come back.

I took my last Cirelle on 30th December under the pretense of getting my cycle back on track so my fiancé and I could TTC this summer after our wedding. Going off other peoples experiences I thought this would be a good plan to stop me stressing but I'm already totally obsessed by what my body could or couldn't be doing!
My mum boldly talks about conceiving me and my sisters in exactly the month she wanted so she could have us at a time 'that suited her' and I grew up thinking everyone did that.
I also find I'm uncomfortable discussing my fertility with friends/family so if anyone wants someone to talk to about all this then feel free to give me a message.
I'd also be really interested if the people who posted in this thread earlier could give us newer ones and others reading this an update s to where they are now.

Evening lovely ladies, I have joined tonight after reading this feed. I have recently come off cerele I'm 3.5weeks off this pill now with no sign of a period and no withdrawal bleed. Over new year I have had symptoms of sore boobs, headaches, back pain and nausea. My husband and I are TTC and began to get excited when I had some of these symptoms , we took a test and sadly it was negative. Before I went on this pill I had the copper coil for 5 years and could always tell when I was ovulating how ever I haven't seen these signs yet. Should I be worried? When should I go speak to my doctor? I have been taking pre pregnancy supplements for over a month now. Is it bad I just want my period so I know were I stand? X thanks ladies in advance x

@elzbelz20 yeah it seems like a good app so far. It gives you a fertility score each day so you know the best days to try. And it has lots of choices for symptom tracking which I've found useful given I'm not used to all the weird and wonderful symptoms I'm having at the moment!

My period came back on saturday. So exactly four weeks, but read it can take longer after coming off cerelle.
Do you reccomend the ovia app Mseddy ?

I came off Cerelle 22nd of July as my partner and I are TTC and still not had my period, how long can it take to have a period? I have been on cerelle over 4 years.
It feels like the weeks are going by so slow at the moment

I came off cerelle on 6th July, had a 2/3 day period on 5th August. I've been using the ovia app to keep a track of my cycles and when the app told me I was ovulation I was symptomatic. I had sore boobs, no appetite, crazy sex drive, and altered discharge (sorry tmi). Just my luck, my husband was working away over this time so won't be expecting a BFP this month, but I'm feeling positive that I've started ovulating straight away after being on the pill with no periods for so many years!

Took my periods 6 weeks to return and now 9 months later I'm still TTC and my cycles are just about regular now xoxo

I stopped taking on 8th June, had a period 5-15 July and then nothing. Took a test and it was positive! Roughly 7 weeks pregnant I think! Good luck xx

I came off cerazette this week after about 4 years on this pill and 7 years on microgynon. Finally ready to TTC after getting married in December last year. Going to Las Vegas next week so that will distract us and hopefully have lots of time to make babies! Good luck to all.

I came off cerazette which is the branded version (was in for 10 yrs) and conceived twins after roughly 4 days !

Hey. I am also new to this but having the same symptoms as all of you ! I came off cerelle on the 26th july. Had been on it for 6 years with no periods. I have not yet had any signs of any period. It has been four weeks today.
It is reassuring to know you can still ovulate normally though.
Has anyone had any luck with periods coming back or concieving ?

Hello new to this so sorry for lack of acronyms!! I recently stopped taking Cerelle 8th June after being on it for 10 years. Had a bleed 5-15th July and nothing since... did a test and got a BFN, now just sitting waiting for AF. Anybody had a similar experience? Thanks!

I tested today- 4 weeks off cerelle and I was negative as expected. Made me truly realise how much I want this!

Will test again in 4 weeks and DTD lots!

I have been on Cerelle for 3 years with no periods and stopped taking it on 20th October. No withdrawl bleed and no period yet, its been 11 weeks so driving me mad!
In the first month I had every pregnancy symptom under the sun and was 101% convinced I was pregnant! Lots of BFNs convinced me I wasn't.
I'm (im)patiently waiting now for my period or a BFP!

I came off cerelle in September and have had similar simptoms on and off each month since. AF has shown up when she likes you just think you have a pattern (24 days) then she changes her mind again this month was two days later just about to take a test and bam here she is. Positive thoughts for the new year it's the start of a new cycle so fx this is the lucky one.
