TTC First Month

Hi all! I’m new to this app - my husband and I have been married for a year now (I’m 22 and he’s 24) and we’re in the process of buying our first house. We’re so ready to have children - my body is telling me constantly that it wants Kids, I know I sound crazy lol but I want nothing more than to have them. I stopped taking the pill in August and had my first period on the 8th October - this is our first month TTC. Everyone we speak to is telling us that we’re too young and aren’t ready (which really infuriates me!) but it means we can’t speak to anyone about it.... so I thought maybe I’d post on here and see if anyone is in the same boat? I’m currently on the 1ww but I just don’t think it’s going to happen this month... I’ve been taking folic acid everyday but never knew until TTC that it can be a really long process!

Is anyone in the same boat/have any tips? Sorry for the long paragraph!! X

That's pants @kjhh but no reason you can't still get the dream job! I'm sure they're not allowed to give negative references. Keep your head up!

kjhh · 21/11/2017 23:32

@PickettBowtruckles I was sacked for something stupid a couple of months ago and then challenged it as I genuinely didn’t think I should be sacked for it - in the meantime I had the job offer of my dreams come through, but I’m scared that my old employer (who have just got back to me today saying I’m not getting my job back) will tell them and they remove the offer... then I’m screwed!!

PickettBowtruckles · 21/11/2017 14:20

Oh no @kjhh that's not good :( What happened with the job? I've got everything crossed for you that you'll find another soon so you can keep trying!

kjhh · 21/11/2017 13:33

@PickettBowtruckles hopefully the doctors can find out what’s going on!

I’ve lost my job 😩 so currently on the hunt for a new one, worried the house is going to fall through so we have to stop trying for one now which is heartbreaking 😭 x

Nothing my end :( Booked a doctors appointment for next week though so hopefully they'll be able to help! How about you @kjhh ?

kjhh · 21/11/2017 13:10

Hi ladies! Any updates? X

kjhh · 19/11/2017 12:08

@PickettBowtruckles omg! Have you got any symptoms or anything at all? Go to the doctors!!

@NelleB irritating wait but at least the trying is fun ;) x

Tested so many times DH has banned me as it's an expensive habit 😂 Going to book a GP appointment if AF doesn't show up in the next week. Ahh the waiting around is the worse bit!

NelleB · 19/11/2017 08:21

Oh god really?! Have you tested? (That’s probably a silly question to ask) I have 7 days until my ovulation window begins... it’s annoying me the wait in between trying, AF, trying x

PickettBowtruckles · 19/11/2017 08:13

Still waiting for AF over here @NelleB Currently on day 45 so hoping it'll be soon! How about you?

NelleB · 19/11/2017 07:35

Is anyone having any joy?

Merrz · 15/11/2017 14:33

My 4th cycle off the pill was 30 days and they have stayed around that since, so i'd say 4/5 months to get back to normal. Wish i'd come off the pill sooner

kjhh · 15/11/2017 12:51

@PickettBowtruckles this is my second one now after having my implant out - be prepared lol, my first one was ‘normal’ (the worst period I’ve ever had in my life) and now this one is the complete opposite; light, no pain, no symptoms and this is the longest month I’ve ever had too! Wish I never went on BC now 😂😂😂

@PickettBowTruckles
My last cycle was my first off the pill I felt every hormone symptom under the sun! Came off pill 21st Sep, had withdrawal bleed 23rd-26th then my period came on the 23/24th Oct (around 31-33 day month)
On cycle 2 now and in my tww.
Hoping your cycle comes back just as quick :)

PickettBowtruckles · 15/11/2017 09:56

@Merrz It is yeah, I had my withdrawal bleed at the beginning of October after coming off contraception and then nothing at all since. Had a few period pains here and there but nothing's actually happening. How long did it take yours to settle down?

Merrz · 15/11/2017 08:46

@PickettBowtruckles Is this your 1st cycle off contraception? It's soo frustrating isn't it, my 1st cycle after my withdrawl bleed was ages then gradually cycle days have come down with every cycle

PickettBowtruckles · 14/11/2017 21:40

Cycle day 40 and nothing to report! Raging doesn't even begin to cover it. I had 2 McDonald's today. TWO!!! I went for lunch (service station, long drive back from morning meeting and caved) and text DH while I was there, he then wanted one and craved it all day so we couldn't be bothered to make dinner and I went with him saying I wouldn't get anything and then got a Big Mac. Might not have a BFP yet but definitely have a food baby 😂

I need to calm the f down - I think I'd be fine if it was just a BFN and then AF came and we could try again but it's knowing nothing is happening that's making me angry 😡

NelleB · 14/11/2017 09:24

@Merrz snap! I am totally the same as you... I am 30 and my partner is 31. I’m happy to say we’ve done it all, we are ready for our baby and I am happy to spend all my time with my baby. That’s not to say somebody who is 10 years younger than me is any different. Each to their own I say. As long as your happy and feel ready that’s the main thing. Good luck on your baby quest. Xx

Merrz · 14/11/2017 08:47

Hi guys, been reading this thread, it's interesting everyone's opinion on when is the "right time/age" isn't it. I'm 29 DH is 34 and we were the drunk friends lol. Been together 8 years but spent the first 5 or so being very social, out every weekend, lots of group/drunken holidays and weekends away etc. We then got married and have spent the last few years saving hard to get ourselves in a comfortable position financially and although part of me wishes we hadn't put off having kids so long i would say it's only now i feel ready. Some of you have said you're getting comments about being too young i feel i'm getting digs about needing to hurry up Confused I've lost and gained friends over the years, I feel like i drifted away from some friends because we were at different life stages but your true friends you always pick up again. I don't think there's a right or wrong time or age it just depends what's important to you and how you feel, only you know when you're ready.

kjhh · 13/11/2017 19:54

@PickettBowtruckles snap! And now AF is here all my signs have gone?? No cramping or anything, I don’t feel like I’m on at all! This is evil 😂😂

@NelleB same here - I’ve never had cycles this long at all! Hopefully it does, then onto the next month 😊

@Emelene it’s nice to enjoy it for what it is, it takes a little pressure off... I don’t have the patience though, I thought I’d be okay and just chilled out (if it happens it happens) but I’m actually soooo upset! It’s harder than you’d think 😂😂 xx

OP posts:
NelleB · 13/11/2017 17:41

@Emelene ahh good luck. I hope this is your last AF, if she comes ha x

Emelene · 13/11/2017 13:52

Hi ladies, it's my first month too.Smile My husband and I are both 24. I have been struggling with vaginismus for over 12 months but with therapy we are much better and actually able to DTD now. We've decided to TTC but it's important for us not to have too much pressure so we are just seeing how we go, trying to take a "it'd be nice if it happened" approach.

AF due 29/11 (but variable after coming off the progesterone only pill in August) so we will see! Fingers crossed for you all! Xx

NelleB · 13/11/2017 12:07

@kjhh mine is 35 days too! It was longer than before BC. Hopefully AF comes today xx

PickettBowtruckles · 13/11/2017 10:26

@kjhh no idea how many days past ovulation as wasn't tracking as it was the first month since contraception. We used Ovia as rough guide but no guarantee. My body is definitely messing with me. Everytime I think I'm getting AF twinges I'm like yes, perfect it'll be tomorrow and then I wake up to nothing 😩

kjhh · 13/11/2017 01:22

@PickettBowtruckles I’m on day 35 now and finally AF has come!! So there’s hope... how many days past OV are you?

I feel like maybe the fact that I’m trying has made my body play tricks on me 🤔 AF is super light and abnormal with no pains or anything.. onto the next month of trying 😩 I agree with @NelleB that stressing about it definitely has an impact!! I’m just gonna chill out this month and carry on as normal!

@peterpanwendy hi! It’s nice to see so many of us are in the same boat! Yeah people are so quick to judge even when you’re sensible and have everything (financially and emotionally) sorted, people will ALWAYS give their opinion on why it isn’t the right time... unfortunately I think the right time is whenever our bodies say it is! Xx
