Ready - what's your question?

graysongirl · 12/06/2007 15:35

Forgot to say on earlier post I am 30 and DH is 34. bye x

graysongirl · 12/06/2007 15:28

Back again.
Please don't think you are being insensitive any of you, its honestly fine to be happy and excited, thats how it should be and am sure you will all be pg really soon. Thanks nomore, yes I was just trying to say don't get disappointed Fifi and toomuch cos I really was gutted when it didn't happen immediatley which was crap. Although as nomore said your hormone levels go really high when you first come off the pill as so you can be caught straightaway.
My first blood test is on Mon 18th but won't know anything for at least a week probably two. Its a Day 21 blood test although mine is on day 23 as I have a 31 day cycle ( well since Feb anyway!) and will be testing mainly for progesterone to see if I have ovulated (which I don't always) but also testing LH & FSH hormone and lots of other things like kidney function, thyroid etc.....
I honestly think its me as I think I have a very late and short luteual phase (the 2 weeks after you have ovulated and before your period) and think I might have to have treatment but I really wanted DH tested too as if its both of us then we are going to find it alot more difficult than if its just me or him. He's just waiting for the letter for his appointment at clinic.
DH is toally marvellous and cool about being tested although I have said I'll go with him and maybe lend a helping hand !!! Apparently the porn is rubbish in fertility clinics!!!!
You really have to see the funny side or go crackers.....

fifilou · 12/06/2007 13:10

poor treenie! Get well soon!

no more, i think this is the best attitude to have. We were plannig a big trip to india in oct, and have decided we will still go whatever happens. dont want to put my life on hold just because im trying for a baby.

just spoke with DH and hes all for this now. He agrees that we just go for it and let things happen they way they will. if it happens it happens.

xx

ps. im on the strongest of elephant pills at the moment, the doc prescribed them as i have a reacuuribg ear infection and hes hoping that these will shift it. My body is prob in no good shape at the mo Tc so it prob wont happen!

nomoremagnolia · 12/06/2007 13:03

btw the wedding was a couple of weeks ago, it was great and I got totally pissed!!

nomoremagnolia · 12/06/2007 12:56

fi - this was my response to someone aking a couple of months ago about planning when to get pg:
At the beginning of last year when DH and I started down the ttc road my sister had just asked me to be her bridesmaid, so we talked about dates and things (would she mind having a tiny baby at the wedding or a fat bridesmaid) and she said not to wait to get pg as that was more important. (I have a lovely sister!)
Fast forward 16 months and the wedding's 3 weeks away and I'm still not even pg, let along huge or covered in baby sick as we worried I might be.
toomuch - no idea on clinic waiting lists but not expecting to be starting tratment anytime soon (at least I won't be disappointed!)
treenie - hope you feel better soon x

Get well soon Treenie xx

Treenie · 12/06/2007 12:28

Gee whiz you ladies can talk! The reason I have been away is because I've been throwing up all morning! Before we get to excited no possible way (short of a medical miracle!) that I am preggers so must have a tummy bug. Feeling like death and praying real morning sickness isn't like this. Friend's baby who was round on sunday had a bug she said so maybe I caught it. Whatever the cause am really struggling so going back to bed and will read all posts and join in later when I feel better.
Have a mountain of work to do too - being self employed means no time for being ill!
Anyway, just didn't want you to think I was ignore you as I see from a quick scan of the posts there have been some important things said. Will be back later.
x

fifilou · 12/06/2007 12:08

nomore- thats exactly what i thought too!Thankyou.

I'm worried im getting too excited about it all, and will come crashing down when it doesnt happen. i hope not. im pretty realistic tbh, i know it probably will take months or even years.

i think if we start thinking oh, theres this holiday and that holiday,so lets hold off this month then i wont go anywhere!

anyawy you dont need alcohol to have a good time!I will be on a high if it happenend that quickly!!!!

toomuchtimeonline · 12/06/2007 12:07

No more - - are clinic waiting lists really long? Sorry - this is all new to me.. seems harsh that you have to wait for so long when you've been trying for 18 months.

toomuchtimeonline · 12/06/2007 12:05

Fi - go for it anyway - you'll be so pleased if you're pregnant by August that virgin cocktails will be the last thing you are worrying about!! I had the same problem that I was going to keep putting it off as I had things coming up like weddings and nights out - but as you hear from people, this could take years..

nomoremagnolia · 12/06/2007 12:03

toomuch - next blood test on 21/6, then a few days for results, then referral to clinic, then join clinic waiting list...so who knows?

OP posts:
nomoremagnolia · 12/06/2007 12:02

fi - don't put anything on hold thinking you might be pg by then, you'll miss out on loads and even if you are pg by aug, you won't care about not getting pissed every night on your girly holiday as you'll be pg!

OP posts:
fifilou · 12/06/2007 12:00

thanks nomore xx

nomoremagnolia · 12/06/2007 11:58

fi - you're not insensitive and I remember being so enthusiatic! (now I sound like the old lady of the thread, don't I?) I think what grayson is saying is don't be disappointed if it doesn't happen straight away. (having said that some people are more fertile straight after stopping the pill, so it goes both ways!) We started trying just before my 28th b'day, thinking we'd have no1 before I was 30 and no2 when I was 32, but you know what they say about the best laid plans... from the sounds of it though you are realistic and by starting 'early' you're giving yourselves a good headstart if you do need help (this is something I am really glad dh and I did as we're still very young in IVF terms, which gives a real advantage)

OP posts:
fifilou · 12/06/2007 11:58

moan

I just spoke to my dh to tell him about it being my oh so excting bd day, and he said, oh thats v exciting but what about your girly holiday in august? you wont be able to have lots of fun!

I guess hes right, but then thats taking it as getting preg first time trying, soooooooooo unlikely!

boo.

toomuchtimeonline · 12/06/2007 11:57

Nomore - how long do you think till you can speak to a specialist? It's awful for you to have to wait for all this - people talk about the 2ww being too long to cope with - so I really feel for you being in the dark about what your next step is

Grayson - when are your test?

toomuchtimeonline · 12/06/2007 11:55

Ditto for me.

fifilou · 12/06/2007 11:49

graysongirl and nomore, i hope my posts arent coming across as insensitive.

Im just over excited and really happy at the moment. I have a feeling its going to take me a very long time, im just excited that im finally strating to do something about TTC. My friends have all had babies, and ive put it off for so long until my time was right.

I just knew that it was nw or never, i know im only 32 and its not old at all, but i wanted to give me and dh a really good start, so if there were problems I would have loads of time left to try evrtything.

my Bf has been trying for 3yrs now, and has found out her dh has low s count. They are trying lots of different things to get the count up, and i really feel for her so much. In the time she has been trying 5 of our friends and one of her family have c'd.

graysongirl · 12/06/2007 11:49

Hey nomore, was on the phone so missed your posts. Really feeling for you and I know what you mean about wanting a 'reason'. I'm a bit nervous about tests but really wanting to find out if anyting is wrong NOW!!!
BTY I'm loving that you are all so excited, its nice to have a bit of optimisim on the thread even though I was a bit too realistic on my previous post!

toomuchtimeonline · 12/06/2007 11:48

Graysongirl - thanks for the advice - all info always gratefully received! I have a few friends TTC or with babies and know that it can take a long time so I'm prepared for the long haul (I think..) - do you ever really stop thinking that it's definitely going to happen this month though? My mind is saying it will take at least 6 months and probably more likely a year or 18 months - but my heart is saying - you never know this month could be the one.. It's a bit of a rollercoaster isn't it!

toomuchtimeonline · 12/06/2007 11:45

Fi - 32yrs married 18months, came off the pill 1st june, new to all of this but not to children (have been a nursery nurse for 14 years, working as a nursery nurse in a hospital, a nursery supervisor, and as a nanny))

nomore - age 29, married 5 years, ttc 18 months currently undergoing inital fertility tests before being referred (dh has v. low % of properly formed o~ so will need assisted conception of some sort, waiting on my results before we can proceed)

Toomuch - Age 27 - started TTC June 07 - just coming of the pill now so waiting to see what will happen.

Treenie - age 27. Married nearly 2 years. Came off the pill last week so now on cd 7 (if counting from first day of af, which I think is what I'm meant to do) Waiting till after next af to start trying.

Graysongirl, TTC: 1 year this month, waiting for my first blood tests and DH SA tests

fifilou · 12/06/2007 11:44

yes 1 in 20 is better than nothing at all. and like you say theres no harm in Bding!

Chocolate cake is good for the soul.

and belly.

graysongirl · 12/06/2007 11:43

Name: graysongirl, TTC: 1 year this month, waiting for my first blood tests and DH SA tests, Hate to tell all you eager beavers out there (no pun intended!!) but I really struggled after being on pill for 11 years, very long cycles with no idea when I was ovulating culminating in a huge 11 week cycle over Xmas. That seemed to kick start cycles and have been 29-31 days since Feb. Hope you don't mind me giving you a bit of advice, it could take alot longer than you think to get pg. I was really naive and just assumed I would get caught straightaway and was pretty gutted when I didn't. It can take a healthy fertile couple up to 18 months to 2 years to concieve. However I have 2 very good friends who were pg within 2 months of ttc which actaully mde it much nore difficult for me to come to terms with my not very good fertility. You just have no idea till you start ttc.
(graysongirl gets down off her preachy type soapbox)
On that cheery note I'm going!!!! Hope I didn't depress you all x x

nomoremagnolia · 12/06/2007 11:43

thanks fi - it's actually easier now we have a 'reason' than it was when we were just failing every month. see my post 31/5 - the whole ttc thing doesn't make any emotional sense!

OP posts:
toomuchtimeonline · 12/06/2007 11:42

p.s. cup of tea and chocolate cake all round
