Thought someone better start a new thread as we're getting close to the 1000 mark!
Ready - what's your question?

OP posts:
PinkElephant · 26/04/2007 19:22

Gilly - ooh I feel better for that hug...thank you . I just feel a bit like anything and everything may jinx the whole possibility of being pregnant....you'll know if I am, when I dissapear of the face of the earth. I won't want to tell anyone until I'm far on.....hmm do you think I'll get away with it by 8months preggers? Oh I'll miss you all too much and will have to tell all See....I'm dreaming again Now whats this question? Is it too painful for you to ask?
Ready - of course I don't mind if you girls have a good old chat about names, I just find it all too uncomfortable to plan ahead, but thats just me. I know exaclty how you feel, we were trying for 8months before I got pregnant at christmas and it was the month we had given up ie BD'ed when we wanted rather than at specific times and drank far too much alcohol....its always the way isn't it. Don't give up hope sweetie, we really will all get there somehow keep that chin up and Ready

Oh PinkElephant - bless your heart, of course you didn't jinx anything by giggling over names. It's natural to think of names. But I understand why you don't want to ponder. I hope it's not too insensitive if we still do??
Yea, I have been really low about ttc - started getting pre-menstrual cramps and just got upset about it all. 8th cycle and very unlikely that I am pregnant - even though we did our best, really well timed action, ovulation when I expected - and I just don't know how many more months of disappointment I can cope with ... Sorry you have been down too - and I like the idea of having some alcohol regardless - good for you

Don't worry Woodmouse - You don't smell - So...what names do you like at the moment!?

PinkElephant · 26/04/2007 17:58

Gosh its quiet on here at the moment - how is everyone?
Sending you a smile Ready are you down about the whole TTC thing? I've felt a bit fed up with it all the last few days and have now convinced myslef that there is no way I am PG and now I feel a bit happier and I'm going to have some alcohol tonight rather than being good just incase...pants to it
Now I do think about names and then I pull myself back from this because when I was PG at christmas it was the first thing me and DH lay in bed giggling over and I feel like I jinxed myself so I'll pass if you don't mind girls.....

Woodmouse · 26/04/2007 17:51

Hurrah!!! Everyone is returning to the thread. I was beginning to think it was me and was getting worried.

Oooh the name game is the best bit of planning babies (apart from BD-ing )! Biblical names are great Geek and I love all yours. I absolutely agree that girls names are harder

So sorry to hear you have been on a mini-depression Ready.

Ready · 26/04/2007 16:15

Aw Bless you Bella - I was having a mini depression, and really busy too! - I am feeling a little better today!!

BellaBear · 26/04/2007 13:21

Ready, I'm so glad you are back, I was getting worried! Now, where is MrsMcJnr?

Ready · 26/04/2007 11:43

Geek - Yep, DH and I are making the most of each other at the moment . I am trying to look after myself properly, but emotions are so hard to control aren't they!!
I think you are the first person other than me and DH that say girls names are a struggle. We could have 10 boys and happily name them all - but girls names are so hard to agree on!!
I love all your boys names - Benjamin being my fave of the 3 - I am quite partial to Samuel(and therefore Sam) at the moment.

geekInPigtails · 26/04/2007 11:21

Thanks Ready. So sorry you've been feeling down recently, especially since it's so unlike you! Hope you're finding time to look after yourself properly, and to get some quality time with DP too. Just think, if you DO get a BFP soon, you'll have to start counting down the months that you have him all to yourself, so make the most of it now!

Re names, now it comes down to it I'm feeling quite at a loss actually! It seems like such a daunting get-it-wrong-now-you'll-regret-it-forever type of decision! When I've thought about it before I've been quite keen on old Bible names for boys - Benjamin, Matthew, Isaac, that kind of thing. I'm a lot more clueless when it comes to girls. So I'm really interested to see other people's suggestions, hopefully they'll inspire me!

Ready · 26/04/2007 11:05

Just to clarify - it's not really a Game... just banter about names really. I tried to make it sound fancy

Ready · 26/04/2007 11:04

Oh no!!! Geek honey, don't feel that you killed the thread - really bad timing for me to have a low mood and no time to post on all my usual threads! Talk about neglecting my responsibilities
Your scan is wonderful, thank you so much for sharing it with us!! My heart just melted looking at your little bean I SO cannot wait to have a scan of my own to look at!!! You and DH look so lovely on your wedding day too! How are you getting on? Made many new friends on the ante-natal threads yet? Doing my best to join you But it's not going well

Woodmouse - Sorry to hear that your DH is away next week. Hope ovulation holds off until his return!

I think we should do the Name Game again - since there are quite a few new faces and therefore we will get some new names thrown into the fray!! What do you all think?? [hopeful emoticon]

Woodmouse · 25/04/2007 14:44

hello hespera and anyone else who is lurking on the thread ! AF is just finishing so looks like all by BD-ing fun should be about to come, but DH is abroad with work for the next week, so I may be on the TTC threads for a while

'Tis cold today. Went out at lunchtime and got soaked!

Oh and on the "what to call the grandparents question" I'll leave it up to DH's parents, but guess they will plump for Nanny and Grandad, because that's what they use in their family for both sides. Nanny reminds me of nanny goat or Mary Poppins but if it pleases them, it's fine (sorry everyone who has a nanny). My mum will want to be called "Gran" and my dad, if he wants anything to do with me, will probably be called "grandpa"

Woodmouse · 25/04/2007 13:59

No, no, you haven't Geek - unfortunately, it been a bit of a quiet thread recently! All the regulars have been quiet, busy or on other threads. We need to build up the first time TTC community again.

Congratulations and the picture of the little one is lovely!

Hespera · 25/04/2007 13:59

Hello again, another crap input from hespera-
I'm in the waiting game now. My persona is giving me the green light which I guess means that BDing opps are over. CD20.
It's so chilly today in my hse that I've had to put a cardi on.

geekInPigtails · 25/04/2007 13:55

wow, i really seem to have killed the conversation! sorry!

geekInPigtails · 24/04/2007 11:48

I've been dreaming all SORTS of weird things recently, from bleeding and losing the baby, to having a really nice chat with David Tennant (aka Dr Who)!

Not really got any idea what our kids will call our parents. Both my grandparents were Grandma and Grandad, distinguished either by surname or location (as in "Grandma in Sheffield"!), so I guess my parents will probably go for Grandma and Grandad too, but I don't know about DH's parents. I think its up to them, I don't have a particularly strong preference.

Well I said I would, so if anyone's interested you can take a look at the pic from my 12 week scan on my profile now Since we've started telling friends about the baby, I'm not so worried about anonymity (sp?) so I've added a couple of me and DH too. The scan was absolutely fab, all is well, we saw the heart fluttering and arms and legs moving - in fact it looked like the baby had hiccups at one stage! So happy, and I promise you all, the 8 months we were trying, which felt like years at the time, are already fading into the distance.

Ready · 24/04/2007 11:31

I am glad I am not the only one dreaming of babies, in whatever capacity. Makes me feel a little more normal. Thanks girls.

BellaBear · 23/04/2007 20:48

I've had dreams like that too. horrible. and yet so disappointing when you wake up.

Ready - poor you! No, you're definitely not cracking up and yes,I have been having weird baby dreams and I'm sure some of the others have too. A few night ago and woke up very upset. I had a horrible dream that I'd had septuplets (?) - seven babies - only they were tiny all began to turn blue in their cots and wouldn't breathe and i was panicking .

Who knows what the dreams mean - and no, I don't want mine analysed! - but I assume at the most basic level they must reflect an anxiety at having/not having babies, which is absolutely normal for TTC #1. I suppose babies are a preoccupation in our lives (they must be to a greater or lesser degree or we wouldn't be posting here) and this comes out in our subconcious when we are asleep. Dreams are odd - we've all had strange ones - but everyone gets them and it most definitely doesn't mean you are cracking up, m'dear.

AF has turned up so I am CD1. Fingers crossed for this month for everyone!!

Ready · 23/04/2007 11:10

PinkE - I imagine that you are going to feel every little niggle and it will be magnified. I'm not trying to belittle your pains at all. It's natural to be anxious and paranoid after what you have been through, sweets. Take it easy and try not to worry - you said yourself the chances of it happening again are very low. I totally understand the panic though. Thinking of you.

Ladies - Just wondering if anyone else has had this -- The last few nights I have dreamt about babies and pregnancy. Last night's was particularly horrid - I dreamt my MUM had just had a baby, and was not doing the best job of caring for the wee mite. I ended up looking after her, but she got sick and I just panicked. It was a very frantic dream and I woke stressed Am I cracking up????

PinkElephant · 22/04/2007 20:40

Hi Ready - yes having fun with ovulation thank you !! I'm a tad worried as I'm sure ovulation was on friday and I have a few cramps today and can't figure out what they are caused by. I normally get ovulation pains and got them all last week but they've got slightly worse today. I had an awful paranoid and hysterical moment earlier worrying about the pains and potential ectopic again. Maybe I'm just getting myself all worked up over nothing but what could these cramps be caused by? feel all shaking at the thought of another ectopic again now...

Ready · 21/04/2007 11:15

Nomoremagnolia - Have a lovely holiday!!

Woodmouse - So long as you are just getting prepared, then that is ok Just don't be tempted into testing early

Bellabear - Great question!! And one that DH and I have discussed at length.

Gilly - We don't have the normal family stereotype either, so it's not as straight forward as for some.

I personally think it should be up to our parents to decide what they would like to be called.
My maternal grandmother was "Nan". My paternal grandparents were "Granny" & "Grandad" - my Grandmother despised the term "Nanny" - she used to say "I'm not a Goat!"
DH's paternal grandmother is "Nan" - His maternal grandparents were "grandma" and "grandpa".

I know my Mum will want to be called "Nan" and MIL will definitely want to be called "Grandma". Both our Mum's are with new partners (my mum divorced, MIL widowed) but they are relatively recent additions (!) so they are not really considered step-parents as we'd already grown up and left home before they were on the scene. So we thought they would just be called by their names. Eg. Nan & x and Grandma & x. And we will explain about their real grandfathers.

Friends of ours whose parents all wanted to be known as "Grandma" and "Grandpa" all just had their names added by the children "Grandma x" and "Grandma y" Thankfully we won't have that issue.

nomoremagnolia · 20/04/2007 21:38

Our parents have already decided what they want to be called, we had no say in the matter!!
I'm off on holiday for a week, so won't be around but will catch up with all the news on my return. Here's hoping there'll be some BFPs when I return.
