Just that really.
Me and my partner are trying to conceive our first child together.
I have two children aged 10 and 8 and he has a daughter who is 9. We all live together and are very happy so this would be the perfect thing to complete our family.
We have been trying since May.

Wow congratulations @mouselove, how brilliant x

I'm currently 5 months TTC. From the moment I came off the pill I was all about the ovulation sticks and bbt testing, and it's been quite disheartening. (I know 5 months isn't long at all - but God does it feel it!). Last month I got a faint positive on an internet cheapy pregnancy test and I was so so happy. I practically skipped back to work and told my partner (we work together - lol), we were both so elated. Came home that evening and took another to confirm and hopefully get a darker line...negative. Took another the following morning...negative. Absolutely heartbreaking. My partner and I had practically spent the whole time just talking about this little baby we thought we had finally made. Sadly not however.

I read somewhere else about a few ladies who had religiously done opks and bbt throughout cycles with no luck, then as soon as they took a month off they got pregnant! So I've taken that approach this month. It's been hard not thinking about it but I have felt more relaxed. However I'm now aware it's that awful time between ovulation and period being due and I'm struggling not to test. I just don't want to be disappointed again. I'm so worried it's going to take us a long time.

Sorry for the long post - it's my first time here and I felt like sharing! Xx

Congratulations @MouseLove that's brilliant news!

dancingunicorns123 · 07/05/2018 09:01

@MouseLove congratulations!!!

MouseLove · 06/05/2018 09:39

I commented back on this thread in December. So I thought I'd update. I'm currently 10 weeks pregnant. It took us 19 emotional cycles but it was worth every moment to get to this point. Be patient. Things happen at the most unexpected times. (2 weeks before our first fertility clinic appointment) x

fruityb · 06/05/2018 09:22

Came off the pill in October 2013, has a positive test in December 2015 and ds was born August 2016.

It was a long and emotional two years and I was beginning to think I never would. I was 33 when we conceived.

I've not tried it myself yet, but apparently a small glass of grapefruit juice every day from the start of your cycle to ov day can increase your ewcm?

SpadesOfGlory · 06/05/2018 09:08

11 months so far trying for DC1 but this is only the 6th cycle due to whacky periods post pill. Hormone blood tests all came back normal last week.

Getting a bit disheartened now. Can't for the life of me figure out how accidental pregnancies happen, when we seem to be trying every trick in the book and still aren't pregnant Confused

Mia5 · 06/05/2018 08:54

Hi @MaGratgarlik1983, thank u for replying. my cycle is 28 or 29 days and doesn't change much than that. Hence my worry. This month, I am on day 18 and still getting a flashing smiley for the fourth day. Plus sorry for too much description but I haven't noticed any cervical mucous at all this month. It feels like all the signs that ovulation isn't happening and getting more worried :(

applecatchers36 · 06/05/2018 08:52

DC1 3 cycles
DC2 3 cycles
DC3 1 cycle

RedPandaMama · 06/05/2018 08:50

I WAS on the pill but had run out when had slightly drunken unprotected live-in-the-moment sex on bonfire night. Our daughter was a lovely surprise result. Sometimes it really does just take one time and I'll always be aware and grateful of how lucky I am, despite the initial shock, having since met mums who tried for 5+ years to have a baby with nothing happening until IVF.

MaGratgarlik1983 · 06/05/2018 08:45

Hi @mia5 I ov usually on CD18,19, or 20 and I think it's pretty common. How long are your cycles? I think I read somewhere that the bit between your ov date and the start of your period should be at least ten days. Four months really isn't that long although I know it can feel like forever when ttc!

Mia5 · 06/05/2018 08:25

Dear ladies , me and hubby have been trying for 4 months but no success. I am becoming very anxious and it's affecting everything. I have started using clear blue digital and noticed that peak fertility is coming on day 18 or 19( my cycle is 28 days). Is this normal? This would be our baby #2. The GP doesn't take me seriously or listen to my concerns. Please can some one guide me ? Really anxious, nervous, stressed and sad

HanSpan1 · 25/04/2018 18:08

Tried for 7 months, then decided to give SMEP a go and it worked first time. Currently 21 weeks

Greggers2017 · 25/04/2018 17:54

@Claire90ftm thank you so much for that, I've just read it and told my partner about it. Going to definitely give that a try

This is my first (hopefully) successful pregnancy @18 weeks now. It took us 17/18 months to get pregnant. But the first time we tried the SMEP (Sperm Meets Egg Plan) it worked and I would recommend it.

PasstheStarmix · 25/04/2018 09:36

Happened in the first month of trying: (aged 30 at the time)

Buddyelf · 25/04/2018 09:34

DD1 second cycle (I was 25) and DD2 took 12 months (I was 28)

Greggers2017 · 25/04/2018 09:05

@custardcream5 it's so disheartening isn't it. You want to be happy for people being pregnant but inside it makes you feel so sad that it's not you

Hi @Greggers2017 I just stumbled across your original post on here, me and my partner have been trying since September last year and I just wanted to say I really struggle at times also. I have a 3 year old DD who asks me everyday for a baby sister I fell pregnant after a month with her and naively thought second time round would be the same but no it hasn't been.

I have found TTC quite a stressful journey for both of us and totally unprepared also don't know if you are the same? I know we haven't been trying for as long as you but just wanted to say I feel you.

I had a missed MC in February which was devastating so just trying every month again, so gutting to have to dust off the ovulation sticks again. Also a week after my two friends announced their pregnancies and nothing wrong with them thankfully all seems to be going well, I just feel very empty and selfishly like I can't feel happy for them really I just can't get involved in their pregnancies because I feel devastated if I'm being honest and don't feel I can disclose that too many people.

I too will be at the doctors in September if we have not successfully conceived by then but wishing you all the luck in the world it's a real struggle Biscuit

kikibo · 24/04/2018 19:43

DD 5 cycles (34 but not taken the pill for more than 10 years)

2nd pregnancy (35, now 8 weeks in) 2 cycles. Used ovulation sticks because periods were still a bit irregular after giving birth, but in the end they weren't really necessary.

Greggers2017 · 24/04/2018 19:35

Thank you for your replies everybody. Your replies certainly give us hope. Fingers crossed things come back ok and it's just a case of waiting

@Greggers2017 I hope I can be some reassurance to you. It took us 12 cycles.

We had blood tests, semen analysis and HSG test to check my tubes. All were fine, I ovulated every month and we had regular sex, timed around ovulation...it just took ages!

Help201602 · 24/04/2018 19:02

1st d/c - 1st cycle age 26 - 1st husband.
2nd d/c -1st cycle age 30 - Different partner.
Ttc for 8 cycles now aged 41 with a different partner and no luck. I wonder if some couples are not genetically compatible so fail to conceive?!?

UnaOfStormhold · 24/04/2018 14:34

DS1 - 2 years
DC2 - 2.75 years and sadly still counting.

noynoyavery · 24/04/2018 14:24
